From Hibiki Mun
Commencing Execution... || Chapter 4 END
A Viking FuneralĀ āŖāŖāŖ
Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what Iāve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough ofĀ hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.
Ever since the others had begun accusing Eirik of his crime, he had been rather accepting of it, and even looked rather ashamed of himself.Ā Once the votes had been cast, he took a deep breath and cast a solemn glance toward his classmates.Ā He only had one thing to say and he did not waste his time in saying it.
Iām sorry.Ā I failed you all.
The blond then proceeded to walk through the doors to his doom, going willingly.Ā There was no need for him to be dragged, no forcing him toward the end.Ā He seemed to have accepted his fate and given up the fight.
It took only moments for the scene of Eirikās execution to appear on the screen, the setting appearing to be a beach at night with a mountain top visible in the background.Ā For a time, the dead silence was only broken by the sound of the waves crashing on the coast.Ā If the students had not known better, they would have likely guessed that these were the cold, harsh waters of the northern Atlantic.Ā It seemed to be so far north, in fact, that there were icebergs visible in the distance.Ā After nearly half a minute of crashing waves and nothing else, shapes had begun to stir in the dark.
At first, these forms seemed to be nothing more than a team of helmeted figures carrying something large and long.Ā Thanks to the torches that were being lit nearby, the item being carried was soon identified as a long, wooden boat, and the burly, bearded men that were carrying it had a notably eerie look to them.Ā
The men then set the boat down on the sand, all standing to one side in order to grant visibility to the students that watched.Ā Inside the boat, lying passively with a nervous, wide-eyed look on his face, was Eirik.Ā His hands were bound and sitting on his lap, his feet tied together in a similar fashion, and there was a white strip of fabric fitted in front of his mouth.Ā He wasnāt struggling a bit, having long resigned the struggle and accepted his fate.Ā Despite his claim in the trial room that he didnāt fear death, however, there was sweat rolling down his face and fear in his eyes.Ā It was the look of a condemned man.
Almost as soon as the students had gotten a look at their doomed classmate, he was gone again, being pushed out into the water by the strange men dressed in Viking attire.Ā Though he remained physically passive, determined to brave his demise as he had intended, it was clear in his eyes that he was in an internal panic.Ā He wanted out more than anything, and that was all he could think about as the boat he was in drifted further and further from the shore.Ā Meanwhile, on a cliff overlooking the beach, one of the men had a flaming arrow on the string.Ā The first shot missed, as did the second, but the third stuck neatly into the end of the boat.
Ā The flames spread quickly, engulfing that end of the boat within a minute.Ā However, they werenāt able to reach any further due to a large wave turning the boat over completely and dumping Eirik into the freezing water below.Ā With his hands and feet bound, he had no way to save himself.Ā
His body washed up on shore roughly half an hour later, his form bloated and his lips blue.Ā He remained still and frozen on the shore, abandoned by the Vikings that had brought him there.
How Long Was I Out? | Eirik | Open
Kitsune ran right into the tall blonde ā nice.
Neh? Oh, you werenāt at the trial, were youā¦
Eh, well, it was Hibiki-san. H fessed up pretty quickly. Kind of a brutal execution, but⦠I donāt think anyone cared this time.
"I kind of figured he did it," Eirik mumbled, still squinting his blue eyes a little. Ā While his headache was mostly gone, he still had a mild sensitivity to light. Ā "I found a bunch of blond hair around the study, and I wast the only other blond still around..." Ā
So he had been right. Ā He would have been lying if he said he hadn't suspected Hibiki for every single crime that had happened. Ā Well, he was right on the money this time. Ā "I was laid up in my room, trying to rest with a pounding headache." Ā Surprisingly, he hadn't been hung over. Ā He wasn't quite sure what had happened, but he figured it had something to do with the lights coming back on after so long.
Body Discovery | Eirik | Open
As the first to discover the body, Eirik was in a silent panic as he identified the bodies of the dead. The one was...Akito? He didn't really know him. Just knew he was the composer. But Kawauso... It wasn't quite enough to say that he was upset. While he didn't quite trust her, he was sad to see her go. After all, she had been experienced enough in his native language to have a full conversation. He probably had his first decent conversation in this house with her. Taking a deep breath, he took a step out into the hall. "Uh...guys!"
This Can't Be Bad | Eirik | Motive Reaction [Open]
"S-s-storstrand-san?" Mikami practically flails when the lights switch off, inevitably hitting someone (muscular and tall by the feel of it). "Is that you? A-are you okay?" She practically clings to his arm.

"Do you know where the d-door is? I bet we could feel our way there using the wall butā¦" she continues speaking, quickly, almost incoherently. "AndthereāsnowaywaitIāvegotaflashlightdonātI!" She takes a few deep breaths to calm herself.
"S-s-s-s-sorry." For a moment sheās glad that the lights are off, so no one could see how red her face had turned.
"It's fine," Eirik remarked, sounding remarkably calm. Ā "The dark is no big deal." Ā And that was true, at least to him. Ā "My eyes will adjust in a minute, no problem..."
He blinked a few more times before his eyes got used to it and he could vaguely make out the room. Ā At least enough to navigate. Ā "I can kinda see anyway. Ā If I help you find your way to your room, can I have your matches? Ā I have a candle stick and candle, but nothing to light them with..."
Reaching out slightly, he felt for the girl's shoulder. Ā First his hand ended up on the top of her head, and then he found the top of her sleeve. Ā "Anyway, it's fine..."
Black on Charcoal | Rika | Reaction/Open
As soon as the lights went out, Rika flinched and grabbed the edge of the table, just to make sure the rest of the world hadnāt disappeared with the light. She couldnāt see anything. She closed her eyes and opened them again. No difference at all.Ā
Everyone else was still at the table, that much she knew. Sheād wait a few minutes, see if she could actually see well enough to walk without hitting a wall, then maybe think about going to her room. She had some matches there. Maybe she could set some paper on fire in a bowl or something to use as a light source.
But for now, she was going to sit right here and do nothing until she could see something. There was no way she was going to get up right now. Not a chancāsomeone just touched her shoulder augh!-
She flinched and flailed awkwardly in the dark, jumping up from the seat. She was pretty sure she just knocked a chair over. She was also pretty sure sheād just accidentally whapped someone in the face. Of course, she couldnāt actually tell because she couldnāt see a damn thing. Whose bright idea was it to go around surprising people like that?!
āWhoās there?ā
She was holding her arms up defensively, not that anyone but her could tell.Ā
"It's me." Ā Despite the fact that he did not actually announce himself, the hockey player's distinct, Scandinavian accent set his voice sharply apart from that of their other classmates. Ā "Rika?" Ā Almost reflexively, he reached a hand out to feel for her shoulder, landing on her arm before reaching its target.
Eirik's eyes were having a fairly difficult time adjusting, despite the fact that he had spent a year or two living in a town above the Arctic circle and had spent roughly a straight month in total darkness. Ā However, even that experience could not prepare him for what had just happened. Ā Still, he couldn't let it get him.
"Hey, I have a candle and candle stick in my room. Ā We could maybe stay together as a group in one room and pull together our resources." Ā It was easy to tell that Eirik was trying, really trying to be Ā hopeful. Ā "We probably have a few candles between us all."
Someone rings for the maid. Gee, I wonder who it is.
She sits up before standing. She runs down the hall, through the kitchen, and up the stairs to the hallway containing the rooms.
U-Um, yes, who ringed for me? I-Iām here!
She took the glass from him and sipped it gently.
She looked around nervously and leaned it carefully.
Iām not supposed to tell a-anyone but⦠I was⦠b-blackmailed to be here.. well.. my family was threatened.
She said it in a very, very light whisper to his ear before leaning back out. She continued talking, as if she hadnāt said that.
I⦠Thank you, um⦠I just⦠w-wanted to help⦠Of courseā¦
Well, that certainly caught Eirik's interest. Ā He wanted to ask her questions about who had blackmailed her, and immediately felt an enormous pang of guilt. Ā After all, she had it bad enough. Ā And what if her answering these questions somehow got back to Aiko? Ā After all, the assistant was more than willing to torture poor Ayami just to manipulate he and his classmates into murder. Ā What would happen to her in this case?
"Anyway...I really can't thank you enough for that." Ā He took another sip of his wine. Ā "Do you... do you maybe need any of your bandages changed? Ā I have a first aid kit in here..."
Someone rings for the maid. Gee, I wonder who it is.
She sits up before standing. She runs down the hall, through the kitchen, and up the stairs to the hallway containing the rooms.
U-Um, yes, who ringed for me? I-Iām here!
She looked at the floor and shivered a bit.
I⦠I donāt know. I still have n-nightmars about it⦠Itās t-terribly too, because⦠Iām happy I g-got out of it, b-but⦠Two people died because of meā¦
Re-corking the bottle once he was finished pouring it, he set it aside in order to bring over both the wineglasses he had just poured. Ā
"It's not your fault," Eirik stated plainly, carefully handing over the less full of the two wine glasses before raising his own to his lips. Ā He downed nearly half of the liquid with the first drink. Ā "After all, I doubt you volunteered to be tortured. Ā And, it really isn't fair to anyone. Ā The people who cracked...they would have likely done it for some other reason, if you hadn't been involved."
Carefully, Eirik then reached an arm around Ayami, letting his hand rest on her far shoulder in an attempt to comfort her. Ā "I don't think I ever got to thank you properly for that interview. Ā You were a pretty big part of solving the first case, after all..."
Someone rings for the maid. Gee, I wonder who it is.
She sits up before standing. She runs down the hall, through the kitchen, and up the stairs to the hallway containing the rooms.
U-Um, yes, who ringed for me? I-Iām here!
She stuttered on her words.
M-Me? U-U-Um, oh gosh, I donāt know, u-um⦠Ah, I-Iām sorry, I donāt usually. d-drink the wine, only deliver it, umā¦
H..H-Half a glass, pleaseā¦
She tried her best to seem confident. After all, this boy was cute and stuff! Boys like confident girls, right? Fuck.
U-Um⦠s-so, um, E-Eirik-sama⦠how..a-are you
Oh my god you idiot. Heās trapped in a house with potential murderers, you think heās doing good?
Eirik paused to clear his throat a bit when she asked how he was doing, pausing to consider his words. Ā "...kinda regretting accepting the invitation to that dinner, honestly," he replied, beginning to tilt the wine bottle downward over the second empty glass. Ā The first was already poured, roughly three quarters full. Ā "How about you? Ā Are you... are you okay after what happened?"
Someone rings for the maid. Gee, I wonder who it is.
She sits up before standing. She runs down the hall, through the kitchen, and up the stairs to the hallway containing the rooms.
U-Um, yes, who ringed for me? I-Iām here!
She blushed hard.
Y-You want me to⦠s-sit with you?? A-Ah, um, o-okayā¦
She sat down awkwardly, placing the tray on the bed. She sat hunched over, trying not to look at Eirik in fear of embarrassing herself.
U-Um, if I may ask, w-who is other glass for Are you having somebody over? S-Should I get anything else..?
She was fidgeting. Cute.
"No, you're fine," Eirik muttered, standing up in order to retrieve the wine bottle from his bedside table. Ā Taking care, he placed the tray on a more secure surface and went to work uncorking the bottle, using a tool he had retrieved from the ballroom when he stole the wine. Ā
"How much you want?" Ā By the time he had asked the question, he had already begun pouring a glass for himself.
Someone rings for the maid. Gee, I wonder who it is.
She sits up before standing. She runs down the hall, through the kitchen, and up the stairs to the hallway containing the rooms.
U-Um, yes, who ringed for me? I-Iām here!
Without even opening his door, she heard him.
Ah, Eirik-sama! Yes, of course, r-right away!
She sped back to the kitchen and grabbed two wine glasses, along with a tray, just in case he needed one for any reason.
I wonder who.. t-the other is forā¦
She was muttering to herself, a bit of her wishing it was for her.
She returned upstairs and gingerly knocked on his door.
Eirik-samaā¦? Iām c-coming in nowā¦!
She gingerly opened the door⦠and wouldāve broken the glasses if she didnāt have sharp reflexes, because when she saw that hockey player with his hot, hot bodyā I mean. Ahem. When she saw him shirtless, she dropped the wine glasses, before catching them midair.
SORRY! IāM SO SORRY I S-SHOULDāVE KNOCKED!
Eirik had been lounging around on his bed until then, t-shirt on the floor and wearing nothing but a pair of baggy black gym shorts. Ā It was no surprise how pale he was, but the wine bottle sitting in the room that was empty of everyone but him (and now Ayami) was. Ā "No, no. Ā It's fine. Ā You gave me a heads up. Ā It's no big deal." Ā He was now sitting on the edge of the bed, leaning forward slightly, with his blonde hair slightly in his face and his elbows resting on his knees. Ā He patted a space on the bed next to him.
Someone rings for the maid. Gee, I wonder who it is.
She sits up before standing. She runs down the hall, through the kitchen, and up the stairs to the hallway containing the rooms.
U-Um, yes, who ringed for me? I-Iām here!
"Ah...I was wondering if you could bring up a couple of wine glasses or something? Ā I couldn't find any in the ballroom."
I feel like a monster - Execution -Reaction
Looking up she smiled at the blond. ā Enjoy talking with you as well. My step back was emotional distancing, It wasnāt meant to be read as physical.ā She says bowing in apology. A rather archaic gesture but just adding a bit more to the lighthearted chaos of her personality. āI will never let my heart blind me, however. I am becoming more aware that I possibly cannot take the effects that following the truth may have on my heart if I grow too attached. Likeā¦..ā She blushes āHow I felt about Madoka, and how I felt the same about Kitsune. I guess itās kind of stupid to even hold on to these condoms anymore.ā She says with a pained smirk.
"I'll take them off your hands," the hockey player muttered at the mention of the condoms, tucking a strand of his platinum hair behind his ears as he spoke. Ā He cleared his throat. Ā "I kind of already spent all of my coins though, but we could negotiate if you want something in return." Ā Before continuing, however, he paused and added, "And the book is off limits."
Don't You Dare Inhale the Empathy of Others || Kitsune || Closed for Eirik
She looked at him and waved.
Youāre⦠Eirik, right?
Her voice was dry and quiet.
The.. hockey player⦠Yeahā¦
She took another sip of her hot chocolate.
Um⦠I wanted to⦠say sorry about⦠what I did to⦠L-Lynn.
She wasnāt quite sure why she was apologising to him ā itās not like they were close, but she knew if she hadnāt done that, Lynn would still be alive, and so would Kanon. He seemed pretty affected about it.
If I hadnāt d-done that, Iām sure both Kanon and Lynn would be aliveā¦
"Yeah, that would be me," the blond muttered, setting his water bottle down on the table and leaning on the wall behind him. Ā While he was perfectly polite, he seemed to be avoiding Kitsune's gaze. Ā His discomfort was probably related back to the events of the trial. Ā He picked up his bottle, opened it, and took another swig of his drink.
"I wasn't really close with either of them, honestly," Eirik stated, setting his bottle down again before beginning to speak. Ā "I just... this whole place bothers me. Ā The entire concept of this game." Ā He picked up his bottle again to take another drink. Ā "It's just... it isn't right. Ā I wanna know who the hell thought this was a clever idea..."
Don't You Dare Inhale the Empathy of Others || Kitsune || Closed for Eirik
Kitsune was sitting quietly at the large Dining Room table, a cup of hot chocolate grasped tightly between her hands. Her jacket was back on, and the sleeves once again rolled down. She was hunched over, her only movement being her breaths and the occasional sip from the cup.
She watched the Hockey Player walk in. She didnāt trust many people, and she didnāt sayĀ trustĀ him ā but she didnāt think he would hurt anyone. Not after that last trial ā he seemed to value human lives pretty well.
She nodded at him in acknowledgement, but said nothing.
Since the conclusion of the trial, Eirik had changed back into his normal day clothes. Ā The cutoff shirt was replaced with a plain white t-shirt, likely the same one he had worn on the day when they had first discovered the hostess dead, and he wore a warm up jacket over that, as well as a pair of work boots. Ā His hair was hanging loose again.
"Hey..." Ā The hockey player was carrying a reusable metal water bottle in one hand, one where the lid had to be removed in order to drink out of it. Ā He unscrewed it and took a swig, replacing the lid almost immediately afterward. Ā However, he did not take a seat.
I feel like a monster - Execution -Reaction
"Yeah, Actually, a lot better than alright. Relieved. Happy? God thatās fucked up,I shouldnāt be happy about someone dying." She says shaking her head disgusted with herself before taking a step back. She looks up at Eirik sadly. "Sorry I want to trust you, I like you and all butā¦." You arenāt Madoka. "I donāt have the best track record on who to trust."
"You don't have to trust someone in order to speak to them," Eirik muttered, still holding his notes from the case in one hand. Ā "As shitty as this might sound, nobody gets a free pass. Ā Justice is important, after all, and I'd rather not risk someone innocent taking the punishment just because I trusted someone a little too much." Ā His voice was rather low and careful, suggesting that he had been fairly affected by the trial. Ā "I won't lie. Ā I enjoy talking to you. Ā But that doesn't mean I trust you either."
