a study in: best friendship, sacrifice, longing, blooming love, unending rage, and much, much more...
this blog will be in character as if sora was posting, but i'm also open to plotted roleplays!
since this is a sideblog, likes and follows will come from @/sevensecondstilltheend.
formerly known as lightheartedislandboy !
below the cut are my rules and headcanons for sora!
Rules:
I'm a real person behind this account, with feelings just like you, so please be polite when interacting (or specify if it's the character being rude if that's what's going on lol). I also struggle to understand tone over text so I may ask for clarification. Apologies in advance.
Please no inappropriate/NSFT (or anything related) asks. Muse (the character) is a minor (so it would be weird anyway) and mun (the person behind the account) is an adult, however such asks usually make mun uncomfortable. Unless previously discussed, please don't send asks in that manner- I probably won't respond to them. Light jokes are fine, however keep what I just said in mind.
I will not be on my accounts/this account all the time, it's just a fun side thing. I also run around 8 or 9 blogs (I believe) and just have other things going on in my life. I'll try to respond as quickly as possible.
Basic roleplay etiquette is expected.
Don't spam me, especially about shipping. I probably won't answer questions about shipping. And don't involve me in drama.
Speaking of shipping, if you want to pair our characters together romantically, then discuss it with me first. I won't auto-ship anyone, and I will assume the type of relationship the characters have in canon (friendly, enemies, etc) unless otherwise discussed.
I will be as close to the canon character as possible, however of course I will add my own headcanons.
Other:
Original characters are always welcome!
Feel free to send in asks, starters, etc. Consider my posts in-character as rp starters, so feel free to respond to them (unless otherwise stated)!
Here are my headcanons. These will be updated as needed:
I tag things that make me think of Sora as "heart of light". I'll come up with a tag for those posts in character/role-playing some day, for now they're just left untagged
I usually don't cut posts because I'm on mobile. Rarely I'm on my computer since I share it with other people but if I do get the chance I will!! I'm so sorry I know it's annoying 😭
Sora is 15-16 here. I'm not exactly sure how old he is in Kingdom Hearts 3, but I'm pretty sure it's around that range.
Sora is bisexual.
Sora is transgender FTM.
Sora is part Japanese (on his mom's side) and part Puerto Rican (on his dad's side). He knows some Spanish (mostly curse words and basic phrases) and knows more Japanese (still mostly basic phrases) and English (main language).
Sora's dad's job requires him to leave for a few weeks at a time.
Sora is bad with technology.
Sora REALLY likes hot chocolate. He also enjoys apple juice.
His go-to comfort meal is animal crackers. It's a quick snack and easy to prepare. Easy to eat too.
He's a fluffy blanket enjoyer.
He oftens has nightmares about losing his friends- mainly Riku and Kairi.
Sora suffers from some depression and suicidal ideation. Often times he'll put on a smile to hide how he's truly feeling, and it takes a lot of effort to get him to come clean about how he really feels. (This will be tagged accordingly if it comes up in an rp)
Sora really likes Paramore and Avril Lavigne.
Sora might have autism and/or adhd but hasn't gotten diagnosed yet.
Sora REALLY likes spicy food. He also likes peanut butter. A lot.
He gets scared easily from movies like Scream.
He's the type of guy to act like he's dying when he just has a cold.
"I'll look like one of those Organization XIII guys," Sora laughed. "It might be worth a try, though."
After considering it for...maybe a little too long, Sora shifted closer. Just a tiny bit, simply chasing Riku's warmth. Maybe it was because he had stayed under the blanket all night. But Riku was warm. Everything was warm, but Riku especially.
He would remain inconspicuous. Yeah, that. Slowly inching closer until he was right up against him and Riku wouldn't even notice. Yeah. Exactly.
Sora was a master at inconspicuous. (No, he wasn't, but he told himself that).
As he spoke, he inched closer again. "Let's stay like this for a bit. Really, the sun isn't bothering me that much. It's just...like this."
He ran his cold fingers over Riku's skin, lightly poking his nails into his arm. His hand crawled up and down. A little spider.
Sora chuckled. "You smell like...huh. Last night it was pineapples, but now you smell more like..." He tilted his head. "Something I wanna bite! Rawr!"
He lurched closer, like he would bite, but he didn't. In all fairness, he did want to bite, but he thought it would be way funnier just to give Riku a little scared.
"You and Kairi were the only ones who didn't get to wear any, right?" Riku grinned, trying not to think too much about it, because... well, could it have been one of them who did this to Sora? But the Organization had all been defeated, hadn't they?
--No, he definitely did not need to think about that. Then again, the alternative was getting a little dangerous, Sora getting closer in a slow way that ought to have been unnerving. It put him a little on edge, maybe, but the sensation of cold fingers ever so lightly drawn over sensitive skin was anything but unnerving. It was a good distraction for a moment, something that drew his focus enough not to really be aware of what Sora was doing, until...
That was not fear. Definitely not a fear response. It wasn't a scare that got his body to go rigid, heat immediately breaking out across his body. He felt like everything had come to a complete stop except his own pulse, scarcely able to draw a breath and definitely not to move, but he knew his heart was hammering away in his chest.
He couldn't hide it, that close. What his body was doing. How far from fear he'd actually been before fear came around and grabbed him by the shoulders from behind. He was hard, maybe hard in a way he could be able to explain, maybe it was alright, it could be okay, if he could just catch his breath and laugh it off. Or ignore it completely. Ignore the very possibility of what Sora might actually smell on him, or sense. Maybe they could both ignore it and he could keep the secret.
That all would have been well and good if he didn't sound just a little wrecked when he offered, "You can. If you want to."
--Wait, no. That didn't help, hadn't been what he'd meant to say. Every instinct screamed run and hide, but that wasn't an option. It just wasn't. Steeped in his own embarrassment or not, he wasn't going to run from Sora. "S-sorry, just, um. Morning." Standard physical reaction. Waking up, it was common. Morning wood. That was all. And it was fine.
It was now apparant why Riku smelled so different.
Sora was unaware of- well, a lot of things- but being able to smell different...feelings like this was all new to him. Sure, it would be useful later. Right now it was just...awkward.
"Oh."
That was his immediate reaction, just a default. Then he actually comprehended what just happened. Riku was hard. Because of him? What? No, of course not. Just...
Morning.
"Oh. Oh!"
Sora chuckled a little, partly because of how silly he sounded. "You're fine, I...uh. Do you...need alone time or something?"
He was almost tempted to ask- and then for some reason he did.
Sora's smile widened. Riku had gotten a good rest. That's what mattered.
Not the prickly, tingling pain that he was reminded of when Riku asked about it. He would've endured it for much longer, if it meant Riku got to rest more. But, now that he was awake...
"I'm fine. The sunlight is bothering me a little, but it's not that serious. Don't feel like you have to rush."
Riku was so caring. If only Sora were still alive. His heart probably would've been racing at the way Riku spoke to him. Maybe he would even be blushing, or was that more of Riku's thing?
He leaned into his hand, not wanting to be seperated just yet. Again, if he had to endure the pain, he would, no questions asked.
The second he was made aware that Sora wasn't comfortable, he wanted to rush. He wanted to move, to do something, but he was stopped as much by the request as he was by the added pressure against his hand.
"Y-yeah." Riku stopped to clear his throat, sounding-- Well, like a teenager. A very affected teenager, which he supposed he was, but nevermind. "Yeah, of course." But if Sora was uncomfortable, shouldn't he do everything he could to fix it? The urge was strong to insist, but fingers sliding through Sora's hair again...
Okay, yeah. The closeness was good. The wanting to be close was good. Well-rested or not, he kind of wanted to fall asleep again, knowing Sora was right there...
And that was quite enough of that thought, and the rush of heat all across his face. Clearing his throat again, hopefully a bit more subtly, he fell back on teasing. "We're going to have to get you a long coat, you know. With a hood or a hat so you can go out during the day. May as well embrace the stereotype." It was a tease, more or less. Also a little bit of an offer, but the idea of Sora wandering out on his own when something as simple as sunlight could hurt him made something uncomfortable churn in his stomach.
"Unless you want me to... help you out more." He would. He was, but he would do more. Always.
Yeah. Exactly.

He lurched closer, like he would bite, but he didn't. In all fairness, he did want to bite, but he thought it would be way funnier just to give Riku a little scared.
Once again, he felt like a puppy. Hiding under a blanket and excited, now that his owner was awake. Not that Riku owned him but so far, Riku kept him tame-
"I'm right here!" He said, and he carefully reached out to touch Riku's arm. He drew back his hand instantly.
Sunlight poured through the window- he had forgotten to cover it- and it was hard to escape. But the blanket worked well enough. There was only...a faint tingling, from the light getting through the fibers of the blanket, but it wasn't terrible.
"Good morning, sleepyhead," he teased, his smile out of view. "Did you sleep okay? How are you feeling?" Was he being overbearing? It didn't matter. It would be fine, right? Yeah.
For a second there, it seemed like Sora's gaze stunned him much more than the touch could have. It didn't freeze him completely, or shock him with fear or discomfort, just... Sora's eyes on him made him go still for a short period of time before he could draw a breath again. Maybe that was just the near-panic of the situation..?
Whatever, Riku was glad to breathe again as his eyes fluttered shut, relief flooding him before he looked down at Sora and-- Ah, right. Hiding under the covers. "I should've made sure to block the windows..." He groaned, annoyed with himself, but Sora seemed pretty comfy, right?
And close. Very close. And best not focused on too hard.
"I--" He stopped himself, blinking and looking around again. He hadn't really slept that long, had he? "I did, actually. Slept better than I have in a long time..." He kind of hoped his friend wasn't going to take his slight confusion as an insult. It wasn't that he expected nightmares, but after the night before...
No, nope. He was going to keep things light, including his own thoughts. "Guess we haven't had a sleep-over in a while, huh?" It took no effort at all to slide his hand under the blankets and blindly find Sora's mess of hair, making it yet more messy with his fingers. Because. "I should, uh... see about covering up the windows so you can come out. Okay?" After a pause, he felt inspired to make sure, "Are you feeling alright?"
Sora's smile widened. Riku had gotten a good rest. That's what mattered.
Not the prickly, tingling pain that he was reminded of when Riku asked about it. He would've endured it for much longer, if it meant Riku got to rest more. But, now that he was awake...

He leaned into his hand, not wanting to be seperated just yet. Again, if he had to endure the pain, he would, no questions asked.
That was...surprisingly sweet, coming from Riku, who usually didn't say things like that- but Sora wasn't complaining.
He smiled brightly and nodded. Enjoying the feeling of Riku's hand in his hair, he placed his own hand on top of Riku's. Just to keep him there for a little while longer.
"Thank you," he whispered. "I'll keep you safe."
Neither of them knew who exactly turned Sora into...this, but if they were still out there, then Sora would deal with them. Especially if they tried to go for Riku (or any of their friends for that matter) next. Sora wouldn't be caught off guard again.
He didn't even consciously hear Sora's words before he was asleep, already feeling safe before the promise. It was Sora, after all, an in any form...
After everything they'd already been through, Riku didn't think that having "too much trust" in Sora was possible.
The only real surprise was how Riku slept. Hours at a stretch, uninterrupted; what had been a simple thing taken for granted before they'd left the Islands became almost a pure impossibility. There was always some reason to be on guard, something to be ready for, so to subconsciously feel Sora's gaze on him was--
Comforting. Not that he was capable of actual lucid though the moment he was aware that he was shifting slightly, turning, throwing an arm over his eyes even without knowing if there was sun shining in his face or not, mumbling, "Morning. Afternoon?"
Wait. Sunshine. All of a sudden he was very much awake, if clumsy, sitting up and looking around for Sora.
Once again, he felt like a puppy. Hiding under a blanket and excited, now that his owner was awake. Not that Riku owned him but so far, Riku kept him tame-
"I'm right here!" He said, and he carefully reached out to touch Riku's arm. He drew back his hand instantly.

"Good morning, sleepyhead," he teased, his smile out of view. "Did you sleep okay? How are you feeling?" Was he being overbearing? It didn't matter. It would be fine, right? Yeah.
His eyes followed Riku as he got in bed and he didn't realize that until the stares had lasted far too long. He was just...making sure Riku was okay. Yeah, duh. Since he was staying up, he'd be on watch and all. Which meant he got to stare at his...at his friend. Yes.
Anyways.
When Riku got himself tucked in, Sora leaned on the edge of the bed, still sitting on the floor. He felt like a puppy wanting to hop on the bed. Or...maybe a bat? Vampires and all.
"Sweet dreams," he said, keeping his eyes downcast. They glowed in the dark, didn't they? It probably wouldn't be helpful to have two bright little things directed right at Riku's face.
There was probably more to say, right? Probably, but Riku supposed the depth of how tired he was became obvious when there was no more hesitation, no insisting, no arguing, just-- Yeah, laying down sounded better by the second, actually.
Riku was almost asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow, but there was something tugging at him. Sora's voice almost didn't register until he forced his eyes open, turning his head in what felt like a colossal effort just to look at his friend. It was at least a little weird to be situated like they were, wasn't it? But maybe Sora was more comfortable on the floor, maybe that was all just better for the both of them.
But...
Riku reached out, slowly and sleepily, to gently place his hand on top of Sora's head. On top of his hair, and it felt a little different maybe, or he just hadn't been familiar with the texture of it in so long, but it was still... Reassuring.
He felt sleep pulling at him again, wanting to remind Sora that there was room in the bed, to wake him up if anything was needed, or even wanted, but all that came from his mouth seconds before he was truly and completely out was an embarrassingly heartfelt, "I'll dream for both of us."
Sora softened at that. Riku's concern, his genuine concern...surprised him.
Riku cared, he always did. But even now, when Sora questioned his own existence- what he was now, and what he wasn't- Riku was still there. A constant presence in his life that would hopefully never leave.
And he caught that. Riku would rather be awake if Sora bit him. Would it ever come to that?
Would Riku really ever...
"Thank you," he said, maybe a little too quickly. How was he supposed to repay Riku for his kindness? He'd find a way, of course- he'd do anything, because Riku was willing to do anything for him.
"I'll probably be fine. If we just close the windows and everything...I could probably just find a dark corner or something, if anything." Maybe he'd hide under the covers. Riku was warm. Cuddly.
Sora would just have to resist the urge to bite, which...might be a little harder under the covers, but he had been able to hold back so far, so...
He didn't want to move, but he knew Riku would probably rather want to sleep on the bed. So he pulled away, and started trying to gather the blanket.
Certain mainly undefinable things about Sora's appearance may have changed, but the look Riku got out of him in that moment was so purely, unquestionably Sora that there could never be any doubt. As if the idea hadn't already been cemented before, whatever had happened to his best friend was just that: a thing that happened to him. Sora was still there, right there, heart unchanged.
Riku tried his absolute best not to think too hard about it suddenly or he was pretty sure he was going to blush to the point of looking unhealthy. He just nodded at Sora's insistence instead, sure he could manage to take care of himself for a few hours at least. There'd never been a doubt before.
The loss of Sora's contact against him (because it wasn't body heat, and that was still going to take a little getting used to) made him very inclined not to move himself, but he had to. They had to. There were things that needed doing, information they needed to get, and there was a threat neither of them even understood that they might have to be ready for. Somehow. On alert, at the very least.
"Yeah, yeah." He teased right back as he stood, but even Riku couldn't miss the exhaustion in his own voice. Alright, fine, he needed sleep. "Just-- Wake me up if you need anything. I do mean anything." It took effort not to sound like he was pleading for that. Just serious, commanding; whatever it took.
Or, well. And. "Been a while since we had a sleepover, too. If you need to hide from the sunlight, I mean..." It had sounded like a good idea in his head, unknowingly on the same pathway of thoughts as Sora had been about hiding under the covers in case the sun started shining in in ways that couldn't be ignored.
Okay. He needed to not look remotely affected. Not embarrassed, not panicking. "You know what? Nevermind. I bet you kick and steal blankets while you're awake, too."
His eyes followed Riku as he got in bed and he didn't realize that until the stares had lasted far too long. He was just...making sure Riku was okay. Yeah, duh. Since he was staying up, he'd be on watch and all. Which meant he got to stare at his...at his friend. Yes.

Sora had to hold back a laugh. "A lot of things. You were talking about some of our friends...about me...telling your mom you wanted to sleep in for five more minutes..."
He tried to skip over the "about me" part. Sure, it was sweet that Riku dreamed about him. He used to dream about him, too, and it was always comforting. He'd miss it. A dull ache settled in his chest as the thought came to mind.
He dismissed it.
In any case, he wasn't trying to embarrass Riku too much.
What did Riku need? Sleep? Food, probably? All mundane human things that he hadn't needed to worry about for at least a few weeks now. It was sort of hard to remember them all.
"I can make you food when you wake up." He'd try, more like. "I promise not to bite."
He added the last part with a little grin, and he knew Riku had no need for worry. Right? Right. Riku trusted him.
Flushing a little more, that was embarrassing, but not too bad. Not when he was worried about saying so much more. "W-well, you know. I never did get to sleep in like you did." Riku had to physically resist the urge to wince at himself, but that was as good a response as he had.
Sora was still looking at him, though. He could sense it, feel it. It left him just enough time to wonder if there was something else, something dire that he'd whispered in his sleep which couldn't be explained away or taken back. Some dreams--
He was glad when Sora interrupted his thoughts. Confused at first, maybe, then the reality of the whole situation crashed into him again. "You can go through the delivery menus and see what's open for breakfast." He teased, but didn't outright refuse. It was silly at the very least (and wrong at the very worst) to take the offer to cook as anything more than what friends did for each other, but he let himself feel something a little warmer anyway. Just for a moment.
Maybe that's what had him slip up, just slightly. Slide for just an instant, really. "Yeah. I'd really rather be awake, if--" No, nope. He stopped himself and cleared his throat before swallowing. "Don't worry, I trust you. But you're sure you'll be okay?" With... everything. Possible leaks of sunlight through curtains, possible boredom. Someone who's just made it clear how willing he was within arm's reach and closer.
"I know that some things... aren't okay. But I want to help where I can." It was the kind of raw sincerity that was liable to get him into trouble if he gave in and looked at Sora.
"You're really warm," Sora replied, as if that justified it. As if he needed a reason to justify it. He was sure he'd already said that, but it was worth mentioning again.
He loved the sun, he loved the heat. But he couldn't really...experience that, not anymore. This was a really good replacement. Maybe even better. Not that he wouldn't miss the sun, but...
Speaking of the sun, shouldn't it be rising soon? As the thought crossed his mind, he realized how early he must've woken Riku up, and he suddenly felt bad.
"Are you tired?" He asked. "I know I woke you up super early, so...if you want to get some sleep, you should. I can keep watch or something."
For a moment, he paused, then smiled. "You know," he said, amusement in his voice, "you talk in your sleep. You say some really funny things."
Riku snorted sleepily at Sora's response. And, well... Sora might not be warm himself, but being close was comfortable. An anchor of familiarity in everything that had happened, everything that was happening. "Just don't start clawing at me, okay?" His friend was already kind of like a big cat, so the purring wasn't really... odd. Just different.
Like a lot about Sora was a little different. It was still Sora, something he'd keep insisting to anyone and everyone. Especially the friend in question.
There was a noncommittal noise of agreement in the back of his throat, eyes blinking open after he'd realized they were sliding closed. "We gotta make sure you're going to be okay, first." The thought was definitely enough to wake him up more. "Make sure-- I don't know, all the curtains are closed. Put blankets over windows if we need to." He wasn't about to risk Sora getting hurt. Not any amount of hurt, ever again.
All of that underlying snarling protectiveness balked and collapsed under the teasing. Riku had no idea he talked in his sleep. And considering some of the dreams he was every aware that he had, some made all the more embarrassing knowing that sometimes Sora had been in the room with him at the time... "I do?" Right, cool. Nonchalant, no big deal.
There was absolutely no way he could fake being perfectly unaffected, but he hoped it was going to come off as curiosity. That was fine, right? To be curious? And avoid eye contact at all costs? "What do I say?"
Sora stared at him for a few seconds. He nodded, slowly, more of a response rather than actually acknowledging what he said. Then he remembered the movie, and Riku's words finally reached his mind, so he nodded again. Quicker this time.
He didn't mind Riku's hand on his. In fact, it was warm, just like the rest of him. And Sora found himself wanting more. He let his head fall back on Riku's shoulder- still measured, cautious. He wanted to be good. And the thought was amusing. A good vampire. As if something like that existed.
If he couldn't be good, well...at least he didn't have to be bad. Riku smelled nice. He was warm. His skin was soft, smooth, easy to tear into-
He felt himself jump at the thought. He caught a glimpse of the TV and decided he didn't want to pay attention. Riku's heartbeat thumped in his ears, under his hand. He got closer, his nose brushing against the skin of Riku's neck. Soft. Warm.
A low noise came from his throat. At first he thought he might've been growling again, or hissing, but it wasn't as intense. It was more...soothing. More like a purr. He didn't know vampires could do that, but hey, the whole point of being here was to learn more. You learn something new every day...
He felt like a cat nuzzling up to its owner. Not a bad feeling in the slightest.
It might have been the admittedly very weird situation that got Sora to look spacey for a few seconds, but Riku couldn't help but wonder what else might be going on. Forgotten a little bit with the closeness again, cool contact seeping into his skin a little, but it warmed.
The little jump got his attention right away, not quite understanding the reason. It would be just like Sora to fall asleep while doing "important research", but that couldn't have been it. Doing his level best to pretend like he was focused on the screen, he felt every motion his friend made with hyper-focused precision, biting the inside of his cheek to try and keep himself from shivering. What..?
"S-Sora..?" His voice was so quiet that he hardly recognized it as his own. He wasn't afraid, could never be afraid of Sora, but he was... nervous. A little bit. Uncertain about what to expect, and that was making his heart beat fast--
That wasn't all. That wasn't everything. But it was most of it, as far as he was willing to admit. He didn't know what to do, if he should do anything. Should he push Sora away? Was his best friend going to do something he regretted? He should, then, probably. He should say something, stop whatever this was, but...
It was nice. Riku felt a little like a selfish asshole, sure, but if anyone were to ask then he'd say he was pretty used to that. No one was going to ask. There wasn't a single thing to be afraid of, he was sure of it. And he wasn't going to do anything to make Sora afraid, either. It was okay. It was going to be okay, and they were going to figure it out together.
Bravely leaning his own head to rest against Sora's own, he tried to banish the tension in his body with a deep breath. "You're purring." He teased, wondering if he came off sounding a little too pleased about that. "Am I that comfy?" Again there was some instinctual kick in the back of his mind, something that insisted on danger, on running, primal flight response, but he just... didn't. Didn't want to. He'd offered, he'd meant it.
