I really liked this quote for many reasons. First, I want to touch on the way the author writes this section of the chapter. This quote specifically shows how a lot of people talk. Conversation and responses are short and choppy as the thoughts just come into your mind and then flow from your mouth. The short sentences made me really stop and think in the same way I would while speaking. They also show me how Lipsha thinks. He doesn't go through a full long thorough thought process. It comes in little bursts just like these sentences. I loved that! I could really get a sense of who he is and how his mind works. Finally, I would like to make a personal connection to this quote. Although, Lipsha is talking about a “love medicine” in a literal sense, I saw it figuratively in my own life. The love medicine Lipsha is explaining is a real physical thing. You can taste it and touch it. He mentions how you can't just go out and get any love medicine. You actually have to search for it and think long to make sure it is the right one for you. I connected this to how in our society we are supposed to find our life long partner. We don't just jump right into a relationship with someone as soon as we meet them. We go on dates, ask questions, get to know the person. Then, we sit and contemplate and look into the future to see if we see that person there. It is at that point when we make a final decision. Just like Lipsha says, if you choose the wrong one you can really mess up your life. If you chose the wrong partner or someone who isn't good to or for you it can have a seriously negative impact on your life. This impact could be as extreme as abuse or could be as small as emotional pain. Either way you should always stop and be sure you are doing the right thing because if you're not it could really end up hurting your entire life.
