Last spring! lol. like…spring 2010. so much fucking work. but worth it! i hated Drama, though. poetry was the best

totally didn't think I'd like poetry but I learned a lot. and fiction is giving me a harder time than I had anticipated, which is essentially what I'm taking the course for.

Creative nonfiction is surprisingly easy. It’s pretty much telling your own story, but grounding it in reality. My travel essay was all about how the Pietá moved me, and my personal essay was about how my family’s expectations for me pissed me off.

13 Ways Of Looking At A Mustache. A poem

Teacher didn't like it a whole lot. But we based them off of a poem called 13 Ways Of Looking At A Black Bird.

I

Among thirty sailors,

the only moving thing

was the upper lip of one.

II

I was of three decisions

Like a woman

In which, there are three mustached men To choose from.

III

The wax tips were swirled upward, Curled

It was how they wore it on weekends.

IV

A man and a woman

Are one

A man and a woman and his mustache

Are one.

V

I don’t know what I liked best

The well groomed handle bar

Or the hint of stubble

Razor to skin

Or just aftershave?

VI

Steam plumed the bathroom

Speckling the mirror

The mustache unclear

Wriggling as the man sighed.

Nervousness

Seen under the thick comb of hair

Unsure of what’s to come.

VII

O’ suave men of weekends

Why do you shave such a creature?

Do you not see how the mustache

Attracts the opposite sex

And lures women in.

I know of men abroad

Different, and designed by women

But I know, also,

That the barber is

Shaping their mustaches too.

When the mustache was removed with

A razor

The skin was nicked

Ours is all creative nonfiction, so stuff like personal essays, literacy narratives, travel essays, etc. But it’s stuff that can come in handy for fictional writing. And of course, revisions like crazy!

yeahhh, that was the realy hard about the poetry unit, because I like crafting clever sentences and I get really attatched to some of them. But my teacher wanted me to be more literal, even though my general audience got what I was saying. That stuff can come in handy most def. Creative non-fiction seems sorta' hard. I love fantasy too much. trhen again, there is this sort of magic to everyday things, just gotta' find it. And my gawd that sounds corny, I know but it's sorta' true. >///<

It is! Lots and lots of writing, and I feel like she’s really helped me improve. So that’s awesome. How’s your creative writing class?

I feel the same about my creative writing class. It's been really eye opening! We started off with poetry. I'll have to post some of it. I've never made so many revisions in my life, Lol. But I love the short exercises we do at the begining of class. And now we've moved on to fiction, then we're going to do a screenplay. Pretty nifty. What have you been writing about? C:

I suppose if you enjoy your job, there’s no real point in quitting it. I stopped enjoying mine, so I left. Fuck that place. I’m sorry to hear you were a mess, but I’m glad you’re better now!

I’m good. Halloween was meh. School is great, actually! I quit my job and found a new one and I’m a thousand times happier than I was before. :) How are you?

I;m better than I was a couple of weeks ago. I was a mess, but I'm figuring stuff out slowly but surely. I gotta' do what I love again. Yay! Wish I could quit mine, but I enjoy the labor part of it. I worked Halloween. Looked like a rad 80's zombie though. School rocks as well. I'm in a creative writing class. It's helping lots. What are you taking this semester? C:
