idk why there aren't more fanfics about people turning into actual fictional characters considering there's so much media abt turning into characters from made-up media. well I'm here to suggest making those.
IS/FF supporters, pr/ship pr/kink etc., and people with typical right-wing/reactionary/trans-exclusionary views are not welcome here.
NSFT and/or kink blogs, please do not reblog my content.

im here to spread word of the highly underrated genre known as self-insert transmigration. for the uninitiated, it's about becoming a fictional character and finding yourself in their world (commonly, though not strictly, through reincarnation). it's like if yumeshipping/self-shipping and typical transmigration media had a baby lol. (and they can also overlap!)
it's such an interesting concept to me, there's a lot to think about here! like will you follow the story or bend the rules? how will you handle being perceived differently due to being The Character? will you try to convince the other characters that you're not actually them, or will you try to pretend like nothing's wrong? and that's not even getting into the Gender narrative potential.

i do not plan to post anything NSFT or kink related, besides the occasional dirty joke.
more info under the cut:
stuff I like, and the characters from them i most often think about being (under construction)
ai the somnium files: kaname date, mizuki, hina
zero escape: junpei, sigma

svsss
my next life as a villainess
got dropped in a ghost story still have to go to work (doesn't involve turning into a fictional character, but still)
this blog encourages being mindful of how the marginalized identities of the characters you write about transmigrating into differ from your own, especially when it comes to disability or race, and recognizing when it may be in poor taste to insert yourself into a narrative about becoming them.
*Isekai protag voice* Oh, woe is me, I guess I have to buy a slave, even though I strongly oppose slavery, but it's just the culture of this world, so I can't go against it!
Of finding out what all of this is for (what all of this was for)
It's you and me
And everywhere we go, we're leading to an open door
What all of this was for
We've made our mistakes, the good and bad days
But nothing really breaks if I got you
Look at the sky when you go outside
And know there is nothing
To keep me back from you (ah)
I've got dreams
Of finding out what all of this is for
It's you and me (and know there is nothing)
And everywhere we go, we're leading to an open door
To keep me back (keep me back, keep me back)
From you (keep me back, keep me back, keep me back)
To keep me back (keep)
From you (oh, oh)
To keep me back (keep me back, keep me back)
From you (oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)

“Where am I? Am I…”
???: Welcome, [Y/N].
“Wait, Alpha Trion? How? I thought you were a fictional character where I’m from.”
Alpha Trion: I understand you’re perplexed of the situation. My brothers and sisters are appointing you to break the cycles of errors made by Optimus Prime.
“What? I’m confused. Why are you appointing me? I’m human, literally not qualified for the role. Maybe I’m dreaming all of this…I need to wake up.”
Alpha Trion: That is not possible, [Y/N]. You were in an accident back in your world.
“Accident? I…don’t remember how I died.”
Alpha Trion: You will remember someday, my child. As of now: Primus, the Primes and I chose you to fill in Optimus’ role. To break cycles caused by overlooked issues.
“…Forgive me, but are you hearing yourself? I’m…well, not really human anymore…I don’t think I’m “Prime” material for this kind of responsibility.”
???: Of course you’re “Prime material”. We’ve watched you since the day you were emerged.
“Alchemist? Who else is with us?”
Alchemist: Prima, Solus, even Megatronus. He’s right behind you.
Megatronus: Greetings.
Alchemist: Rarely comes out to greet anyone.
“Huh. So, do I have to replace Optimus or Orion when being reincarnated?”
Alpha Trion: You will be taking over his frame. Their spirits will guide you of the worlds they experience in.
Solus: You’ll get the hang of things, [Y/N]. Plus, it would be fun to see a former human as a Cybertronian.
Alpha Trion: Are you willing to take this opportunity to break the cycles?
“…If it helps me guide my way through this kind of purgatory, I accept.”
Alpha Trion: Okay…Your journey starts now.
[(A/N): Hello! I started a series of the [Reader] being Isekai’d to the TF continuities and becomes Prime himself.]

Stuff/HCs abt my TF/Isekai!Caine because im too tired to draw but i like him :)
He was an artist back before he wound up as caine, but he can't quite draw like he used to. he often times gets frustrated not being able to produce the results he felt like he could beforehand.
Memories are very foggy for him. when he woke up in the circus the program "restored" a lot of cached information into his mind to catch him up as to what happened and who everyone was.
Definitely way more nervous/imperfect compared to the originally scripted adventure intros. He stutters and uses filler words often. If you catch him off guard somewhere like his office, he won't be putting on the performer act in general.
His teeth chatter quietly when feeling comfortable or half asleep, kinda like his own version of a cat's purr. He also flaps his hands and rocks side to side or back and forth to stim/self soothe.
His Kinger is the only one who knows the truth, and they made an agreement to not tell anyone so long as Caine can keep doing his job right.
On the surface, Pleasantville is an early, Western isekai. There's a fictional property, and a fan of that property gets sucked in. By virtue of having Real World Knowledge of the property, the person is then able to induce extreme, unexpected changes on the world and the people in it.
However, there are a few really obvious things that differentiate Pleasantville and the average isekai:
The main characters of the movie can enter and leave the show at will.
They don't have special powers, and their knowledge about the show isn't nearly as helpful as their knowledge about what real life is like
Many isekai are, at their base, either a power fantasy or a deconstruction of one. Pleasantville, meanwhile, is a social critique of several things, but most notably of nostalgia and censorship.
I'm sure there's more to say, but it's been a very long time since I saw the movie, and I don't engage with isekai as often as some of my friends.
Still, I think it would be a very cool compare-and-contrast for people who are into both properties!
I know you're joking but a lot of the "transmigration" stories (where you become a specific extant person instead of just a Brand New Guy) do make a point of the protagonist suddenly recovering from a potentially-fatal injury or illness. Beaten half to death, alcohol poisoning, bad blow to the head, etc. That guy whose body they're in now totally did die, though where they went afterwards is rarely addressed.
When I read found family isekai manhwas I feel either of the two
one annoyed because of the unnecessary harem, or two sob of daddy issues as I see this mc child find happiness
I haven't seen many isekai anime, so I could very well be saying something stupid that was never a problem, but I think there's a lack of RPG-style isekai with female protagonists. I mean, there are female protagonists in isekai, but most are usually set in visual novel or dating sim worlds, and honestly, they're good, but it's still strange that narrative-focused ones are mostly female and adventure/RPG-focused ones are mostly male.
That, and more variety in settings would be great. Like, I don't know, instead of medieval European fantasy, it could be Egyptian, Slavic, or pre-Columbian.
I was woken up (in the dream) by my girlfriend to the news that our roommate, (who had irl just gone to a mental health ward) had died and was being unethically reincarnated. the text she showed me in the dream was from her friend going "my best friend just DIED. and theyre turning her into a JUJUTSU KAISEN CHARACTER"
it was a deeply serious and horrifying thing, because she was simply getting isekaied into jjk, and presumably wouldnt have any powers or anything.
