“Clean Eating” is bullshit.
I just want to touch on right quick about how I think eating clean is such bullshit. Not only is it not realistic, but it can give people who aren’t educated about nutrition to get into bad habits and that’s the least thing I want to happen. People preach day in and day out on here about how you need to “eat clean” or else you’re never going to get to your goals….regardless of if its for losing weight or gaining weight or anything else in between. I understand the thought behind it, by eating clean you mean to not eat any processed foods. Except that shouldn’t be the case. To tell someone they HAVE to eat clean implies that they should never eat some cookies or enjoy themselves eating-wise when going out with friends. I see all the time on here how someone freaks the fuck out because they ate some popcorn and they’re highly upset cause they didn’t live up to their “clean eating” diet. That’s what it basically is, a diet. It shouldn’t be a diet. For someone who wants healthy goals, they should have good eating for the rest of their lives. A diet implies it’s a just for now type of thing.
Everyone preaches about eating clean but I tell you this, no one follows it. Yes, people eat healthy but is it really clean eating? No. Clean eating is a myth. Eating healthy doesn’t mean to never eat your favorite foods ever again. Healthy eating is something that’s mentally healthy as well. There’s something wrong someone feels like they always always have to eat healthy, even if it’s making “health brownies” it’s OKAY to eat some damn brownies. You don’t need to make every little thing you eat into a “Healthy ____ recipe” this can lead to real disordered eating habits. Orthorexia It’s a condition that means an obsession with eating healthy foods. Which is something I am seeing A LOT on here but it’s never talked about because it looks like it’s the only thing to do on this site. When I say eating clean is a myth it’s because it really is. “Clean eating” implies there’s food that poisonous to you. Yes, some food are made up to be better for you than others. Eating nothing but junk food isn’t healthy for the body but you have to understand balance. People shouldn’t make up foods to be good or bad.
There’s no such thing as a bad food or good food. I want people to enjoy food, without being so upset the they compromised their “eating clean” “diet”. You can enjoy some junk food and NOT comprise your health. Girls are literally crying their eyes out for eating some “junk food” because they thing its bad for them to do so…that the ruined all their progress by eating some ice cream. That eating not so well for a couple days ruined everything they had going for them. I can not fathom how dependent people have gotten on here about OMG MUST EAT CLEAN. MUSSTTT EAT CLEANNN. It’s like a damn cult!! Also these whole “cheat meals” and “cheat days” are giving the WRONG MESSAGE to people. They should be thrown out. Thinking that you are cheating by eating. YOU ARE NOT CHEATING BY EATING. By no means are you doing something “bad” by eating some french fries or french toast. Setting certain times to only eat these kinds of foods are not good for you. Then say if you ate it during a time that’s not within your “cheating eating time” then you feel like shit??? YOU SHOULD NEVER FEEL LIKE SHIT ABOUT EATING. EVER. EATING IS NOT CHEATING.
Anyways, here are some key points about why eating clean is a myth…
