After accidentally getting on his boss's boss's boss's bad side, Kyoto policeman Yamazaki Makoto finds himself reassigned to the tiny island of Hyakki, where crime is basically nonexistent, everyone knows everyone, and the police station is only held together by dirt.
With his career in shambles, and no purpose for himself, Makoto meets his new neighbor, Takahashi Akira, the stunning and slightly peculiar island doctor, and his two adoptive daughters, Kuniko and Kyoko.
As he gets to know the family more and more, he soon ends up falling for the doctor, and he slowly finds his new place in life.
But the island might have some surprises in store for him.
No because Ibara won't just have to bury her husband. She will have to bury two of her children as well. And some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and she will still be a young woman.
And Saki and Mirai will have to bury their brothers and nephews and nieces and all their kamaitachi relatives for generations to come.
I hope the Hatanaka family gets to enjoy what time they have left together, but their tragedy is inevitable.
You see I draw and post all this soulful ass ship art of unpopular pairings and will continue to do so because. One day there will be someone who will watch/play [thing] for the very first time. They will have no prior exposure to the fandom. They will think, on their own, that [unpopular ship] is nice. They will look [unpopular ship] up and find my one of a kind, absolutely wicked freaking goldmine. I will feed them for decades. It is entirely possible. I might be suffering right now, but THEY won’t be. I’m doing this for you too, hypothetical future person…
You know, I kinda want to know more about the kids living in the Takahashi house.
I mean, we see the unnamed zashiki warashi (name-the-unnamed-zashiki-warashi-2026) and Kuniko, but there are other kids. (According to the 'Yamazaki-san's private life' extra in yoseito vol 2.)
Who are they? How did they end up with Akira? What is their life like?
Anyway, I would really like to know more about them.

Marilyn and Daisy give off serious fujoshi vibes for absolutely no reason? Like, I would be surprised if they weren't, but I can't remember any part that would support this?

If you go to Takahashi with any sort of symptoms, he's going to run every test under the sun to find out what's the matter, not because he wants to heal you, but because he's curious.
(And then he does heal you, because he wants you to be in the best physical condition possible, so you can do/discover/create interesting things.)
Haruaki is the clichè genderbent guy. Long hair, chest breasting boobily, you get the picture. He runs off to try on his entire sailor uniform collection, and thus doesn't appear much.
Rintarou looks exactly like Ibara. This causes Hatanaka immense stress. Rintarou himself is living his best life, borrowing his sisters' clothes and trying new make-up stuff with his slightly more feminine face. All the new ways for him to be pretty and dazzling.
We already know what Hatanaka would look like from that one art. Once he's turned back, he goes on a long quest to find the absolute most comfortable bra for his wife, because he suddenly realised that most bras are shit.
Douman tells everyone to be calm, and take this as an opportunity to get a experience the everyday struggles of people of the opposite sex. When he is finally alone, he immediately starts bitching about not being able to lie on his stomach.
Ranmaru tries to make money off it. He goes back to working in the bar, and makes some pretty good cash. Then he goes to visit Douman, and they bitch about their situation together. (They also laugh at each other first.)
Akira is elated. He can finally experience what it's like to be a woman! He actually hopes it's possible to get a period while genderbent. He, like Haruaki, doesn't appear much, because he fucks off to do experiments on himself. Take this as you will.
Kurai thinks it's unfair to be included, since he isn't usually part of the main cast. The creepy maid (I don't remember her name) laughs her ass off. Nyuudou Hajime takes one look at him, and thinkd 'yep, I'm bi.'
Ebisu is lucky. As always. He feels perfectly comfortable, absolutely no drawbacks. Everyone else hates him for it. He and Miki get into a competition on who can look better. Not that he needs to be beautiful, he just wants to defeat Miki.
Makoto and the long haired science teacher (whose name escapes me ):) are just sitting there, completely unchanged, and having to explain to people that you can't get genderbent if you don't have a gender to begin with.
(Alternatively, pretty much any of them could be interpreted as trans, in ehich case a) the potion or whatever speedruns any sort of gender affirming surgery for them, and they are very happy with the results, or b) (where the potion is transphobic) any change they've made is undone, and they scream at Yanagida to hurry up with that antitode before they start killing people.)
As always feel free to add more. Might do the students next, but typing up a post on mobile is hell.
