quick facts.
blood malediction curse. she will die at a young age. it’s a miracle she’s made it this long. it could be any time, any day. (curse is common knowledge)
she chooses potions as her area of study in part to try to find a cure for herself — but no one knows this. even she’s in denial about it.
she is resentful of her older sister, tea, for not being sick and being the golden child.
her mother is close to her but only in private so any love shared is kept close to the vest and not shared with anyone. she’s a disappointment to her father and has been since the day she was born.
aligned with death eaters because she doesn’t like the other options and, a bit, because she was searching for acceptance from her parents.

bio.
it was supposed to be a blessing when the second child, dahlia maj, was born but right away it was disappointment. the greengrass curse had stricken the baby. a blood malediction with no cure. she was bound to die at a young age. hubert and valda looked into the child’s eyes that already looked sickly. when hubert was not in the room valda cried. her husband had already written the little girl off even though it was his family that brought the curse upon them. valda held her tight but let go when he was in the room. that’s how dahlia’s life would be. loving in secret, resentment, tears, thick skin and sickness.
the greengrass household was a torn one. tea, her older sister, could do no wrong. she was perfection in human form. her father doted on her and showered her with gifts. dahlia received the things tea didn’t want or grew out of. the only time dahlia received anything new was when valda sneaked them in for her. her mother tried to show the child love but behind hubert’s back. if she had been found out he would shout and degrade her for spending money or time on someone who was bound to die any day now.
any day now hadn’t come before her hogwart’s letter did. and so she went and was sorted into slytherin, the only thing her father could be proud of. while there she had to find out who she was as she never had the chance before. all she knew was an icy exterior, to rely on no one to constantly be there and to always be second best. but soon she wised up. she wasn’t second best. she was smart as a whip and twice as sharp. all she needed was her right environment and the slytherin common room and its inhabitants gave it all to her.
while she loved many of the classes hogwarts had to offer, potions is where her heart landed. there was something about the creating of potions that appealed most to her; playing with different herbs, piecing them together to see what they would do. though she would never admit it, dahlia secretly hoped that one day — before she died — that she could find a cure. and that one day she could laugh in her father’s face. the only problem is that she had become so comfortable with the fact she was going to die that she hadn’t given much thought about what a real life would be like. but what if she could find out? so she dedicated her study to potions.
as any good greengrass would, dahlia watched the war approaching and has decided to align with the death eaters. not necessarily because of her parents — well, partly, looking for approval — but because the other options weren’t appealing. she didn’t have anything to live for so she may as well find something to die for.
