For all those students in Italy taking design classes, industrial design, and design in general a must have visit is at the Car Museums in italy. The Italian design in cars as well as in other fields needs very little introduction: Maserati, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Ghia, DeTomaso, Alfa Romeo, the list goes on as top class manufacturer.
In Italy were in fact designed and made countless models who have written important pages Automotive. Many of these can be seen in museums that still would be worth visiting at least once, such as the five that we propose in the list of today âŚ
The 2 Ferrariâs Museums You Must Visit
Ferrari has 2 museums you can visit set just 20 km apart one from the other one. There are many fans of the âCavallino Rampanteâ or âPrancing Horseâ the symbol and icon of the Ferrari brand that annually visit the museum. Located about 18 km from Modena, a few steps from the company headquarter and the Fiorano track, the latter is divided into several areas. In addition to having an exhibition âfixedâ there are also temporary exhibitions: currently underway California Dreaming, time to celebrate the arrival of California T and the sixtieth anniversary of Ferrari in America.

 The Museo Enzo Ferrari Modena
The space is dedicated to Enzo Ferrari, rather than a museum in the traditional sense of the word, is a fascinating, exciting event that manages to combine truly unique elements: in the futuristic 2,500 m2 pillar-free hall visitors can get close and personal with the many cars exhibited, but also experience a show that â through an immersive biopic screened using 19 projectors â tells Enzo Ferrariâs incredible life story, spanning 90 years, taking them through his various incarnations: from the child who discovered racing at the beginning of 1900 to the pilot, from the manager of Scuderia Ferrari through to the manufacturer with so many triumphs to his credit.
The counter-piece to this injection of pure emotion is the Museo dei Motori Ferrari, housed in the painstakingly renovated workshop where Enzoâs father used to work: a history within the history that enables visitors to understand why Ferraris are such unique cars.

The Museo Ferrari Maranello
âLive the dreamâ is the claim that welcomes visitors, promising an immersive, unique experience. The Museo Ferrari in Maranello focuses on Ferrariâs present and future, whilst remaining deeply rooted in the Prancing Horseâs extraordinary history. A permanent exhibition dedicated to Formula 1 and the World Championship, complete with cars and a âpit stop wallâ where visitors can gain an understanding of telemetry and pilotsâ in-race driving behaviour, is flanked by five rooms that host themed exhibitions with wide-ranging appeal. Many other attractions await visitors: a Screening Room where themed films are screened on a loop, Formula 1 simulators â a semi-professional one for adults and a junior one, based on an actual Formula 1 car; the opportunity of tackling a real tyre change, mega screens to view Grand Prix action, a large Ferrari Store and a welcoming cafeteria.

Museo Nazionale dellâAuto in Torino
The collection of the Museum of Turin has about 200 cars of 85 brands, from eight countries of the world. Cars tell the story of motoring, putting further light on aspects of society and its development. Among the most valuable pieces you can admire the âsteam carâ designed by Virginio Bordino in 1854, the first model Benz of 1893, the first Peugeot model to circulate in Italy and the first car with three wheels built in our country.
The Museum has a new look, thanks to a modern, innovative design: this is not just a simple architectural renovation, but a new amenity redesigned to be placed among the most cutting-edge of European cultural centres.
Itâs a museum that can attract to it not only an audience of specialists but of young people, families and students and is a space for all the local people, who will find in the rebuilt complex a place where they can meet and socialize.
Alongside the museum exhibition thereâs the large square where events can take place, an area where the public can congregate, a conference center, a documentation center and a teaching center, as well as a bookshop and cafeteria.

Collezione Umberto Panini Motor Museum
Another great collection is available at the Umberto Panini Motor Museum where you can admire one of the finest collections of Maserati. Located within the family factory, on the outskirts of Modena, the structure contains 23 cars that recall the most important stages of the history of the Trident. Among these, the Maserati 6 CM type, the A6G / 54 and the 420M / 58 Eldorado.
The Maserati was founded in Bologna in 1914 by Alfieri Maserati automobiles as a repair workshop. Subsequently, in 1926, the Maserati brothers took over the Diatto, small industry of racing cars in Turin. Drawing on their experience with mechanical and material available to them built in the same year the first automobile called âType 26âł. Since then, over the course of its long history, the Maserati has kept the vehicles most significant products in addition to the experimental prototypes, thus creating over the decades a collection of cars, engines and components unique in the world able to illustrate the evolution historical, technical and design company.

Museo dellâAlfa Romeo in Arese
 Update: reopened in 2015! Open to the public from December 18, 1976, the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese houses 110 cars, 15 aircraft engines and 25 engines in the automotive industry, in addition to 50 000 digitized images, 5000 Technical Publications, 3000 drawings, a thousand movies and records of the chassis of the cars since 1938. in the 4800 square meters of exhibition space are, among others, the 6C 1500 S won the Mille Miglia in 2007 and the Giulia GT 1963, the first car assembled in the factory in Arese. The ex- FIAT now FCA AUTO closed the museum âfor maintenanceâ in 2010 but it has now reopened. The Ministry of âBeni Culturaliâ and FCA have come to an agreement and the museum will reopen! Restoration, renewal and expansion will be according to a masterplan that was already presented in 2007, yet simplified. Time is not on the museumâs side, it seems that the work will not be finished by May 2015, when the Expo opens. But as it will open in the summer of 2015, it still can welcome many of the Expoâs visitors.

Centro Storico FIAT, FCA in Torino
Opened in 1963, the Centro Storico Fiat is based in Turin, an Art Nouveau building that was the first extension (1907) of course Dante workshops where the company was born.
From the beginning has been the scene of important moments in the history of Fiat: the first dates back to May 4, 1966 when, in the central hall, Vittorio Valletta, one of the key figures in the century-long history of the company founded by Senator Giovanni Agnelli, signed l â agreement with the Soviet Union that led to the construction of Tolyatti.
Now the Old Town is home to a collection of cars, memorabilia, models and posters of artists covering the entire history of the company. From the first car, the 3½ Hp, the impressive âMephistophelesâ, which in 1924 beat the world record speed. And then there are the first tractor, the Fiat 702 of 1919; 18BL truck, which powered the Italian troops in World War I, the Littorina, protagonist of rail transport since the thirties and the fascinating hunting G91, the aircraft designed by Giuseppe Gabrielli and then adopted by NATO.
The visit, in which you can come across engines for ships, bicycles, refrigerators and washing machines âtargatiâ Fiat, winds through the reconstruction of some establishments symbol of corporate history and changes in the way we work.
In the same building there is also the company archive, available by appointment: more than 5,000 paper documents, 300,000 technical drawings, 5,000 volumes and motoring magazines and industrial history, more than 6 million images (prints, diacolour, plates and negatives), 200 hours of historical footage. Of particular interest is the bottom of the designer Ing.Dante Giacosa, the âfatherâ of the utility â the Topolino, the 600, the 500 â that have driven Italy.

 Museo Pininfarina in Cambiano (Torino)
 Battista âPininâ Farina was born in Turin November 2, 1893. At age eleven, he started working in the small body created by his older brother John, the âEstablishments Flourâ. During the First World War he personally supervised the construction of airplanes Aviatic from school, receiving a commendation from the Office of Military Aviation perfect execution. In 1920 he went to the United States. A Detroit is received by Henry Ford, who invites him to stay in America and work for its industry, but Pininfarina preferred to return to Italy. In 1920 he married Rosa Copasso, from whom he has two children: Gianna, born in 1922 and Sergio, born in 1926.
Pininfarina proves very interested in the technical progress: he is moved towards the car and is fascinated by aeronautics and flight. In 1921 he won the race âAosta-Great Saint Bernardâ, setting the fastest time of all categories: a record destined to remain unbeaten for eleven years. In 1930 he founded Carrozzeria Pinin Farina. His program includes the study and coach-building.

  Museo dellâAuto San Martino in Rio (RE)
The museum was created by the collection of Domenico Gentili in 1956. Today contains about forty cars, a dozen motorcycle and sidecar, a historical library, a photographic and multimedia. E âseat of the Scuderia San Martino, federated clubs ASI. The owners care for the restoration and maintenance of vehicles, which also offer demonstrations pitches: if the museum preserves the cars, the Scuderia the moves. Among the cars on display, the Zedel Laundalet 1910 of Margaret of Savoy, the Fiat Ardita NSU 1935 used by General Kesselring in his stay in Rome, a Ford T 1916, Itala 50 1920, unâAnsaldo 4H 192 .
