Hullo! This is a Sarah & Duck fan-page, posting tidbits, drawings, and various other thoughts on things. There's no set schedule for these, and activity is slower compared to before. I hope you still enjoy posts whenever they happen!
Thank you for visiting this Sarah & Duck fanblog. I'm a dedicated fan who's majorly attached to the world of this show. You'll find a variety of content that I find interesting and worth talking about regarding the series here. It could be little-known facts, fanart from myself, things I wonder about, or any other little tidbits I feel like posting about! I'll tag them using specific tags using the 'ducky' prefix. For example, art will be tagged 'ducky-art', facts are 'ducky-facts', headcanons are 'ducky-hc', etc.
In addition to the previous post, the name of the cat toy is inconsistent. The episode it is introduced in is Auto Cat, two words, while the short refers to it as Autocat, one word.
Unlike the other animal/animal adjacent characters, who are typically voiced by stock animal sound effects, Auto Cat is voiced by a real cat named Smokey. Presumably, this is a pet of someone that worked on Sarah & Duck.

Also, I'll whittle away at the 2025 calendar project more and more, and likely moving it to my main as well. Considering I've picked up the 2026 calendar, things might get messy. But again, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone here!
"Scooter Boy is a bit shy and cautious, he likes to be very safety conscious with his helmet and reflector badges, he even has glow in the dark pyjamas! He is never far from his beloved scooter, but rarely actually scoots until Sarah & Duck help him find his confidence! His favourite film is ‘The Red Scooter’ which he goes to the cinema to watch quite often. He enjoys an ice cream and can get quite nervous around squirrels!"

Scooter Boy is a secondary character, not appearing too often, but far from a one-off character. He's probably the least mysterious of the secondary kid characters. This post will highlight parts of his character and personality and my thoughts/observations on them.
Sense of Safety
Scooter Boy is NEVER seen without protective gear. Wherever he goes, he's at minimum wearing his helmet, even during sleep. On some occasions, he even wears brighter and high-visibility clothing/accessories.

The sense of safety extends to others, not just himself. Scooter Boy has expressed interest in other's safety a few times, such as giving Sarah a warning light for her birthday (The Mouse's Birthday) and recommending the bike shop's selection of safety accessories and saying it's better having people see you (Puncture Pump). He's also convinced to play Twang Ball on account that rule number one was safety (Twang Ball). He also takes part in a race during Rainbow Race in a traffic cone shaped cart while driving as slow/safe as possible and even using a parachute upon trudging over the finish line.
Confidential Confidence
Scooter Boy is shy, nervous, and seems to have issues regarding his self-confidence, which is amusing considering he wears safety gear in order to be seen, yet also isn't very outgoing. The cautious and fearful mannerisms could be explained by him being younger than the other kids by a year (Sarah, John, Plate Girl and the Ribbon Sisters are all 7 while Scooter Boy is 6). Younger children are often more afraid of being hurt or frightened.
His lack of confidence is explored in depth in Scooter Stand Still, being the focus of the episode. After being injured, Scooter Boy is hesitant to ride his scooter again for fear of getting hurt again. Sarah and Duck support and help him regain his confidence.
Interestingly, Scooter Stand Still is the only episode where Scooter Boy is seen riding his scooter instead of walking beside it.
Unique behavior is shown during Cinema Scoot. When within proximity of Music Lady, Scooter Boy blushes a few times. The first time is when he's greeted by her, the second is when he's praised on his idea of providing scooter sounds for the movie, and last is when he's applauded for at the end of the episode.
As Scooter Boy and Music Lady are not shown nor implied to have interacted prior to this episode, this blush is likely out of embarrassment/nervousness at interacting with an unfamiliar person. This could also instead be Scooter Boy not being used to the attention given to him. During Cinema Scoot, he is in proximity of and performing for a theater of people, which is very noticeable in the third gif. You can see him step backwards and try to lower his face/look away. However, during Scooter Stand Still, he is primarily only in the presence of Sarah and Duck, and he might be more comfortable being with fewer people or people he trusts.
The only other times Scooter Boy is seen blushing is in his character spotlight intro and Twang Ball. The latter example supports the attention aspect as he's dancing in front of several people as opposed to just one.
A Boy and His Scooter
Scooter Boy wouldn't be Scooter Boy without his scooter. He'd just be "Boy" then.
The only times his scooter is not right next to him are when he can leave it in a place where he knows it's safe already. Such times are when he leaves it outside of Sarah's house during Octagon Club, inside her house in The Big Sleepover and The Mouse's Birthday, and when he keeps it locked at the base of the Cloud Tower in Cloud Tower.
With the in-universe film of 'The Red Scooter' being his favorite, I'm wondering if the film kickstarted his love for scooters, or simply bolsters his pre-existing love.
Something I just noticed is the difference in Scooter Boy's scooter to a conventional scooter.
Scooter Boy's scooter has two front wheels as opposed to one, which is why it can stand up on its on when he's not holding it. This would also make it harder to fall off or lose balance (though seeing what happens in Scooter Stand Still, it's not foolproof). Fitting of the safety themed character to have a safer scooter design.
Everything Else
Scooter Boy's house is only ever seen in Bread Bike. The show's website describes the hedges as "padded", the front gate is shaped like his own helmet, and there's a track around the house. It even looks like there's a pretend road leading to/leaving the front door. Nothing else besides a sliver of the entryway is seen for the rest of the series.
In The Big Sleepover, Scooter Boy brings over and sleeps in a tent instead of a sleeping bag or bedroll. This might mean that Scooter Boy likes camping, or possibly that he feels safer being surrounded by a tent with its own nightlight. This is very speculative because we do not see anything else suggesting this.
Scooter Boy also appears to have (or had) selective rhotacism/difficulty pronouncing R sounds. I previously discussed this topic in this post.
Sarah and Scooter Boy seem to be acquainted with each other before the series proper instead of meeting him for the first time like John or the Ribbon Sisters, as he greets her by name in both Big Shop and Sarah Gets a Cold.
There's a neat pattern among the recurring human cast... All of them wear something on their heads!
Sarah has her iconic beanie, John has his own hat, Scooter Boy has a helmet, Plate Girl has a headband, the Ribbon Sisters have their sunglasses, Bread Man has his toque, Librarian has a book, Cloud Captain has his captain hat, and Music Lady has a beret in addition to a tuning fork hairpin(?). Scarf Lady could be argued as having some sort of band to do her hair up, as that's the most sound interpretation of it in my eyes. I refuse to believe her hair is naturally like that.
Amusingly, two generic characters that carry very minor roles, seen in Music Fixer and The Art of Pink, also wear a head accessory, being a fez and a beanie respectively.
I'm sorry for the prolonged hiatus in content for this blog. I haven't been ignoring it, but personal laziness and being busy with friends and family have sort of put content creation on the wayside. I have scheduled a smaller scale post that will be up in a few hours from now.
A few weeks ago, I got a comment from someone asking me to come back, which really tugged a heartstring when I read it. To keep this from being a large emotional dump, it comforts me to know that people have been looking forward to my posts and have missed them in my absence. As Scooter Boy's age was revealed, it actually gave credence to my (hitherto unspoken about) personal headcanon that Scooter Boy was younger than the other kids. This was mostly because I had noticed that Scooter Boy would pronounce Sarah as "Sawah"—pronouncing the R as a W—especially early in the series.
Difficulty with Rs/Rhotacism is common in children, so it makes sense that Scooter Boy might possibly have a speech disorder. However, later in the series, he seems to pronounce Sarah's name without difficulty. This is likely due to his voice actor, Dylan Issberner, aging as the show progressed, as Scooter Boy's voice is much higher pitched in early episodes as opposed to later ones.
Here is a video highlighting every time Scooter Boy says "Hello Sarah" to highlight the changes in speech.
As stated in the video, I personally recalled his first appearances in Big Shop/Sarah Gets a Cold as having pronounced hello as "hewwo", but upon collecting the clips for the video, I no longer hear this as clearly as I once did.
It should also be noted that, within my searching, Scooter Boy does not pronounce Rs as Ws elsewhere in his dialogue, or if he does, it is more difficult to tell. One such example is in The Big Sleepover, where he very clearly pronounces "sorry" regularly, without W sounds.

At 6 years old, Scooter Boy is the youngest of the kids and the human cast as a whole. Scarf Lady is the oldest of the human cast at 80. Duck is the youngest of the animals at 2, and Tortoise beats the rest by a long shot at 100.
Despite having character pages, Bag and Rainbow are the only characters that do not have a listed age. For Rainbow, this is justified on the basis that he's an optical phenomenon, but is odd for Bag, who's another living object akin to Umbrella.
