Would You Like Some Hummus for Dessert?
Thatâs a strange question to ask someone, as most people are used to eating sweet things, not appetizers at the end of their meals. Delighted by Hummus has just invented what it calls âDessert Hummus.â I know it sounds weird, but stay with me on this one. Itâs hummus that is sweet.  What that means for you, dear eater, is that you get all the health benefits of hummus (just 60 calories per 2 tablespoon serving Gluten-Free, Vegan, All Natural), but in a form that makes sense for dessert.  Iâll admit, I was skeptical at first, but I love trying new things, so I gave it a shot.  I bought some plain Stacyâs pita chips and a tub of the Snickerdoodle flavored hummus. I couldnât put it down. If you close your eyes, it really does seem like you are biting into one of those cinnamon and sugar cookies.  You could even enhance that flavor with cinnamon flavored pita chips. Once you get past the idea that you are eating garbanzo beans for dessert (or breakfast or an afternoon snack) and just enjoy the flavor, I think youâll be hooked too. If Snickerdoodle isnât your thing (whatâs wrong with you?) there are other flavors: Brownie Batter, Orange Dreamsicle and Vanilla Bean.  When I first read about this product, I was so psyched to try it, but then (sad trombone sound) I found out the company only sold the product on the east coast.  Since Iâm in California, thatâs a bit of a problem.  But oh, the power of Twitter.  I sent the company a tweet (as did others) and within a couple of months, voila â they started selling at my local Grocery Outlet store.  If you live in California or Nevada, Grocery Outlet is the only place you can buy it right now (I really hope it expands to more grocery stores soon). Those in other parts of the country will find it in Price Chopper, Market 32, Hy-Vee and select Wegmanâs stores.  You can sign up to find out when itâs coming to a store near you by going to their website.  Delighted by Hummus did not pay me anything to write this, (but if they did, I wouldnât mind ;)) Iâm just a freelance writer who occasionally likes to share things Iâm passionate about.
