I think I'm really getting used to this quiet.
Reiner chuckled. “What, you worried I’m going to rape you and kill you then stuff in the box spring?”
Alex let out a laugh. "I'm more worried about whether or not you snore and if you're gonna keep me up all night."
Reiner hummed softly, chuckling as he smiled into the darkness. “Only weird if you make it…” The soldier replied playfully.
"You mistook my apartment for your hotel room. It's weird. No matter how much you deny it." Alex mumbled, not even sure if he was loud enough for the man to hear him.
Reiner tucked his arms behind his head with a sigh, closing his eyes. “I have no intentions of getting up.” The soldier replied plainly. Reiner would have gotten up and gone to his own room, but not today. He was too tired.
Alex let out a small laugh, closing his eyes. "Just stay on your side of the bed. This doesn't need to be any weirder than it already is."
Pull the crates out. I’ll start packing them with some non perishables. We might need to sneak out and go to the small shed behind the mess hall. That’s where most of it is.
-He puts the crates on to the counter in front of her- Anything thing to get out of the building is fine by me.
Alex chuckled, dropping back down into his pillows. “It’s fine. You must be really out of it. I thought you stayed at the hotel still.” Alex couldn’t help but find the whole situation hysterical, but he was too damn tired to do more than let out a pathetic chuckle. He made...
Alex shook his head. He would have had a hard time believing the man if he didn't already know what Reiner said to be true. Rolling on to his side he said, "Are you staying or going? I could really care less either way."
Finally that's over... or nearly so...
Nah, I’m fine. I really am. Maybe I should go help rebuilding the wall now that things are calmer. [He sighed, he knew it was vicious and he hated it, but no matter what they did, they just couldn’t stop it] Yeah, so do I, which in the case it’s really the issue. We just have a way of getting under each other’s skin. It’s not healthy at all and under different circumstances I would have walked away ages ago, but it’s hard to walk away when you’re stuck in here together.
Keltie and I can take care of it. It's kind of our job anyway. It would be hard to avoid someone around here, this place ain't that big. But you could do what everyone used to do in high school. Just turn and go the other way when you see them coming. -He laughed-
The familiar voice brought Reiner back from his quickly dozing state. The soldier didn’t need to turn his head to look at the other to know who it was. Reiner groaned and shifted on the bed so he was on his back. “I apologize…” Reiner grumbled, his accent sounding rougher from lack of sleep as he rubbed his face. “I mistook this room for mine.”
Alex chuckled, dropping back down into his pillows. "It's fine. You must be really out of it. I thought you stayed at the hotel still." Alex couldn't help but find the whole situation hysterical, but he was too damn tired to do more than let out a pathetic chuckle. He made a mental to double check the front door lock before going to sleep. It was one thing to have his little sister in bed beside him due to a nightmare, but Reiner was a different story.
It had been a long couple of days for Reiner. He had taken the bull by the horns for when he was on the wall, never taking a true break except to take a quick nap or eat, and when the wall breached he stepped up to be one of the first people to respond to the threat without mercy or remorse. So the fact the soldier wandered into the wrong hotel room to finally crash was understandable.
Reiner walked into the room, his fatigue apparent on how he peeled away his jacket and shirt to leave his chest bare and his weapons on the floor in a trail as he walked to the bed. Reiner landed face first on the bed, sighing happily his body sagged against the mattress. It seemed he had yet to realize there was another person there.
After spending a week sleeping on the floor in the mess hall, even if it was next to Daphne, Alex relished the thought sleeping in his bed. A queen sized bed all too himself. He didn't have to worry about rolling over and hitting someone in the fact. He wouldn't wake up with a sore back from the floor. Nope. Just Alex, the pillows, and the sheets. He didn't have to worry about something happening in the middle of the night.
Alex was almost asleep, buried under the covers when someone dropped down into the bed beside him. He figured it was Arianna, because she had another bad dream or something. It's something that happened a lot since coming to the outpost. It took him a second to realize that the person was too heavy to be his little sister. He had actually moved when they lied down. Propping himself up on his elbow, Alex squinted through the dark, making out the man lying next to him in bed. "What the fuck are you doing in my bed?"
I missed my bed.
Well, I’m glad we moved past that. -smiles- Come on. Let’s go get these crates done.
Yeah, me too. -He smiles, leaning against the counter- It's your kitchen, what do you want me to do, Daphne?
Finally that's over... or nearly so...
No, I’m fine. I’m fine. I can handle it… I need to make sure everything is over before I collapse, because as soon as I let myself rest, I’ll be sleeping for another week. [He furrowed his eyebrows for a moment when Alex said he shouldn’t speak to her, bu as soon as he apologized, Clay simply shrugged] I’ve tried. I’ve tried a lot of times. But then she always comes back around and forces her way back in and as soon as I let her back in, she starts pushing me away again. It’s really a wonderful cycle. In spite of our petty fights, though, she’s the person I care the most around here, that doesn’t really change.
I don't think anything else will happen and it if does, we'll come get you if we need to. You need to sleep. It doesn't sound like a wonderful cycle. Sounds kinda vicious. I wouldn't want to fight with her. I care about her.
Finally that's over... or nearly so...
The walls would always collapse if there was no one to defend them. I mean, they are not exactly castle walls. I am pretty dead, just haven’t crashed yet. The walls breaching and what happened… it kind of gave me another boost of energy. Not that it’s a very good one. [He sighed and then chuckled a bit when Alex said he had never seen Daph getting mad.] That’s because Daph pretty much only yells at me. But then she makes sure to make up for all the other people she doesn’t yell at by always finding a reason to get mad at me when we speak to each other.
Never said they were, just saying it was a theory someone had. You should go get some rest, man. Before you crash in the middle of town or something. Sounds like you shouldn't speak to her then. That was rude. I apologize for that.
Finally that's over... or nearly so...
Yeah, I suppose having no news at all can be tricky. You dd well coming ot and verifying… although I’m pretty sure it would have been obvious if we were all dead because you’d probably have the walkers at your doorstep. [Clay chuckled, running his hand through his hair that just felt disgusting after a week of fighting zombies pretty much nonstop and not having time to shower properly] Well, you seem pretty alive to me, so it seems I didn’t do a bad job after all. It’s just me and her had a pretty big argument just before this whole thing and it’s really fucked when you’re putting knifes through their heads and all you can think is ‘if I die now, that was the last thing I told her’.
Never know. The wall could have held even if y'all died. Doubt that because part of the wall fucking broke anyway. -Alex nodded- We're all still alive, y'all did good keeping us alive. I'm a little surprised you're not dead to the world like the other guards and hunters. You and Daphne had a fight? Over what? I can't see Daphne actually getting mad and yelling at someone.
Finally that's over... or nearly so...
Well, as you can imagine it wasn’t exactly the priority of the people in the wall. [Clay scoffed when Alex said he had kept Daph safe] Oh, really? I thought those fighting the walkers were the ones keeping her and all the others safe.
Yeah, we knew that. It just everyone had their theories about why we weren't getting updates. Some said y'all died. Some said y'all were overwhelmed with geeks. Some said y'all were doing just fine. Doesn't matter now though. We're all good. -Alex smirked at Clay's reaction- You can't really keep us safe if you're busy worrying about a girl who was safe in the mess hall.
Finally that's over... or nearly so...
Oh, I see. I never really wanted to leave the wall, because I thought that any moment I turned away more walkers would appear. Nice, it’s good to hear that, I was worrying about her all the time like an idiot, as if she was the one fighting zombies and not me.
That was my reasons for leaving the mess hall. We never got enough updates on what was happening. I kept her safe, you ain't gotta worry about her.
Finally that's over... or nearly so...
Why did you stay in anyway? Was Daph alright? I mean, through all of it… she goes a bit out of it sometimes…
I didn't, not all the time a lot. Wandered around a bit. She actually did great. She was probably one best in the mess hall. She showed that she was scared once.
