Hey, can I have some opinions?

Hey all! I don’t usually post to Tumblr that often but was wanting to ask for people’s opinions.

For a design assessment, I’m wanting to use the non-binary gender symbol (among other gender symbols). I’ve done some quick research and seen that there seems to be more than one iteration. My question to is, is there one over the other that non-binary folks prefer? Or one that you think is more appropriate, or actually the correct one to use?

I’m a cis gal so I’d thought I’d ask the opinions of people who can actually answer my questions. If anyone could help me out that’ll be great!!

Thing-a-Week 23: Trust or Forsake?

This is probably one of my favorite moments in The Suffering Game and maybe in TAZ: Balance as a whole. Relistening to it, it still makes me laugh the way Justin just cuts off his brother explaining game mechanics to shout about self-preservation for a while. Soot tags gather after fires in areas with low circulation. They are not, as commonly believed, ash covered spider webs.

They’re made of sticky particles from a polymer or petroleum based fire, like burning carpet, drapes, upholstery, and clothes. Due to a static charge, they chain together and naturally gather near ceiling corners because the rising hot air pushes them into the cool spots by convection. 

Because they’re formed by static electricity, they can only be removed with professional chemicals and equipment. Attempting to remove them improperly will only break the chain before all the soot can be captured, leaving the remaining soot to spontaneously reform the webs later. Even worse, trying to wipe or wash them away can firmly adhere the soot to your wall or ceiling, which will permanently stain it.

Note that the concept of “virginity” in Ancient times merely meant “unmarried”, and had nothing to do with sexual activity. Some priestesses were “virgins” because they chose (or were committed to) a life of worship, but it was merely a question of social status, not of personal choice or practice. Of course, one can suppose that this lifestyle would be rather attractive for lesbians. So when Artemis is said to be the Goddess of Virgins, it is meant to be understood as “Goddess of Unmarried Women”, or, quite possibly literally, of lesbians.  (It’s only Christianity that reframed the concept of virginity to mean “never had sex”. Many ancient religions has “Virgin goddesses”, which symbolized feminine power, and in this case too it meant “untied to a man”, or “whole for herself”)
