guinevere shrugged. he did have a point. it was common knowledge that a lot of unwanted things went to the isle. ❝ manky place, ain’t it? the isle? unfair that ye were forced to there, ❞ she thought aloud, leaning back && looking to the sky. guin realized a long time ago to be thankful that she was born as a princess && as free as can be. ❝ ay, me family donnae wear leather. i prefer the softer fabrics && a hood to keep me dry or warm, ❞ she admitted, making a reference to herself && pointing at the green flannel she wore often, ❝ they’re easier to shoot or ride in after all, ❞
“‘Course it was.” Jay says with a snort, “But you shouldn’t be the one who says that. Only Isle Kids get to trash on the Isle scot free.”
Jay leans back on his arms, getting more comfortable with the girl beside him, “Shooting and riding, huh? Quite a set of skills there. I’ve always wanted to try catching an arrow with my bare hands, have you ever done it?”

“I suppose that tis true, but we had us plenty of other thing t’use. Like ancient scaffolding or ships masts, y’ken?” the pirate mate responded. He himself could scale things faster than a squirrel on caffeine. Though he did grow up on a ship, so there was that. “Y’ were known round the Isle to be one of the best at that stuff, though.”
“I’d like to think so. Though I’d bet a couple of your people could fight me for it.” Jay says with a laugh. He himself had grown up scaling crumbling walls and slippery metal pipes. Jay looks up at the tree again, appreciating the greenery. “It is a nice change of scenery from the rust and mold of collapsing highrises, though, ain’t it?”

Carlos couldn’t help the slight blush on his face from the wink he received by his friend. God, you’re best friends. Stop it. He thought and looked back down at all the work.
”You want me to help?” he offered as he didn’t mind school work at all. He actually loved learning new things and staying focused.
“obviously.” Jay says with a pout, “I would literally beg if that’s what it took to get you to help me, my dude.”
He looks up at Carlos pleadingly. Jay could not deal with all this even if it’s been two years since they’ve started this weird always-at-school lifestyle.

“great.” the male smiled as he began to prepare the paperwork for the lessons. “just one question, do you know how to swim at all?” the male inquired after hearing the others statement. it wasn’t that he had a problem teaching the vks, but he at least needed them to know how to swim. he wasn’t one for teaching someone the sport of surfing if they couldn’t swim first.
“i won’t die,” Jay says with a shrug, “I’m not exactly the best but I can survive I’d like to think... probably.”
Jay had tried to make use of the pool at Auradon prep. They weren’t the most successful nor the most effective lessons, but Jay could keep his head above the water. Hopefully.

“thanks.” she smiled at the male. the dark haired female had never really expected to get into any sort of sport in auradon. after all she’d been raised as a princess and never played rough on the isle. but something felt different about the sport of cheer. it had turned out to be something that the dark haired female had actually really liked.
“I wouldn’t’ve thought Princess Candy would be up for tumbling around with a bunch of Hero Kids.” Jay smiled wide. “You should teach me that last move, it looked awesome.”
Jay was always up for learning any and all acrobatics. He’s learned from a lifetime of experience how far they could take you.

“oh that makes me feel old.” she joked with the male for a moment. truth was she was quite a bit older than most of the parents around auradon. but she’d never gotten the chance to have her own.
Jay laughs, “Well, ma’am, you’ve got quite the timeless face. It demands a bit o’ respect.”
Jay wondered who she was, she didn’t match much of the descriptions his dad or any of the Isle villains raved on about. Then again, he never did listen to them all that often.

the red head knew about the male. she was more than aware of the four that got to go to the mainland before she had. but she’d never had much of an experience with the male. “no problem.” she smiled for a moment. “mhmm, but this one is so much better than the one i had on the isle.”
“Glad you managed to get one. Land of milk and honey over here, amiright?” Jay smirked before grinning, “You should totally show me your best move! I bet it’s badass.”

“hello.” the male smiled as he looked up from the desk of the surf shop. “were you looking to buy a board or sign up for some lessons when the weather decides to warm up?”
“Hey, actually I’d love to sign up for lessons.” Jay smiles then laughs, “Though, I’m not exactly the most water-capable VK.”
After all, the water held monsters, the villains had said. Though, Jay thought, they were the real monsters.

the female had just finished cheer practice. which had just been held in the same space as the tourney’s practice. as she made her way to the locker room, she spotted the male she’d once been very jealous of. “hey jay. nice practice today!”
“Thanks!” Jay says with a grin and a wave to the dark haired cheerleader, “Y’all did great too! You really nailed that backflip!”
With all of his interest in parkour and freerunning, Jay wondered whether he should try out cheerleading. Chad would probably say it’d be weird for a dude to be on that team but hey, Jay appreciated any and every sport.

“anytime.” the blonde told the male. she was aware of the vks in auradon, but she’d never really gone out of her way to actually meet them. mainly spending her time in the pet shop, and with her husband. so it was refreshing to meet them as she randomly saw them around. “nice to meet you jay, i’m raye.”
“nice to meet you too, ma’am.” jay says. She looked his dad’s age, jay figures, he never really interacted with the pre-Isle adults other than King Beast that One Time.

Carlos grabbed two drinks and then returned to his seat next to Jay, ”One soda for the man with the best friend in the world.” he handed Jay the beverage and grinned.
Even though they were just studying it was time with Jay and Carlos always enjoyed that.
”So do you have a lot to finish?” Carlos looked over at Jay, surprised at how close he had sat down to Jay. He laughed slightly in a nervous tone and looked down at the books instead.
“Here’s to me then,” Jay says with a laugh and a wink in Carlos’ direction. Jay looks back down at his books and sighs, “Yeah, I’ve kinda been procrastinating a week’s worth of work.”
He liked learning, more or less, but this kind of thing with books and pens and sitting for hours on end. It just wasn’t his style.

“i am.” mal said laughing taking his arm. mal loved everything about her friends, they were always there for her. she couldn’t ever thank them enough for always being by her side.
mal knew that she wouldn’t be in the place she was in without them. they were the reason she went good, she wanted to be happy with all of them. happy in auradon, not back on the isle. they all were giving a better life off that isle. she just hoped that once the school year was over they could spend more time together.
“Ever think about what’s gonna happen after university?” Jay says thoughtfully as he starts to walk to the exit, “It’s weird but the question’s been bothering me for a while.”
Being an Isle kid meant the extent of their thoughts for the future was whether they were gonna survive another shipment from auradon. Whether food was gonna be enough or if they had to tear it from someone else’s hands. The days Jay had to think about that were the days he hated Auradon the most.

“i feel like chad would have his ways if he really wanted to impress someone.” she laughed softly. “probably by having someone lift him up into the tree, and then he tries to be cool and fail.” she added. josephine was never a big fan of guys who tried so hard to be better than others.
“Oh yeah, that totally sounds like chad.” Jay laughed, “He’s a good guy, beneath all the... prissiness... like... way, way beneath.”
Jay shrugs, “Anyway, what are you doing around here?”

the young red head had always known about the male she was currently watching, no admiring. her tomboy ways made her want to attempt what he was doing, but another part of her not wanting to get hurt chose to stick to her board. practicing her kick flip as she heard the male exclaim. laughter leaving her lips as she stepped off her board. “nice!”
Jay grins, turning to see a young girl with fiery red hair. Jay thinks she’s seen her before on the Isle. She kind of reminded him of himself when he was younger in a weird way.
“Thanks!” Jay says with a laugh, raising a hand for a high five. “Cool board, you skate?”

raye was always someone who loved kids, but she never had a chance to actually have her own. sometimes spending her time in the park just watching the younger people go by. this time watching the vk jumping and swinging from the branches just a mere feet ahead of her. a slight laugh coming from her lips as the male celebrated his skills.
“very impressive.” she added as she stood from the bench.
Jay smiles, giving a dramatic bow, “ thank you, thank you. “
He walks up to the lady who was standing up from her seat. He didn’t know a lot of older Auradonians, though he did know a lot of adult VKs. He figures he just never got the chance to know them. Either way he smiles politely, “ I’m jay. “
