RB IF YOU AGREE
every day i get a little madder about the ‘dream job’ narrative… all i want is to have a job that benefits society somewhat, doesn’t abuse me, and lets me live a happy life outside of my job lol. jobs should not be (and arguably can’t be) cosmic destinies and identities
as a child being told "the moon controls the tides" with no additional explanation was like. oh okay. you want me to believe in magic? you're talking about magic right now? okay. fine
sorry. only semi-related but i simply wasn't ready for "the sun is a distant gorilla". thank you NASA
everyone is meeting me in the grotto
The "B" is *not* for "buses"

scientific fact
I know that Ea-nasir is like a meme these days but it is wild that we have complaint letters from 1750 BC. That's over three thousand years before the release of Belgian techno anthem "Pump Up the Jam".
I have a confession to make... I thought the idea of wireless headphones like air pods were so so stupid when they first came out. But having owned wireless headphone pods with a case I have to admit that I do enjoy them quite a lot. But we should still eat the spleen of every person who lobbied to phase out the headphone jack in electronics
Wireless headphones: great, can move around without having to drag my phone or laptop with me, chord doesn't get caught on doorknobs anymore
No headphone jack in my phone: terrible, awful, everyone involved should get hit with a hammer
this video has been going around for a while but the English subtitles didn't match the energy of the spoken French at all. i had to fix it.

i'll forever miss how the internet felt before you had to second-guess the authenticity of every single piece of media you came across. silly videos used to be just silly. fun was coincidental. wonder was just wonder. digital art had character and soul. AI has taken the taste out of everything and irreversibly poisoned the creative sphere and the people still pushing it forward are the doom of both joy and the quality of being.
Fibonacci: Hmm... I sure wish there was a way to mathematically represent an empty quantity.
The simple yet useful Arabic numeral:
eating an egg without any utensils just straight from the plate to my mouth
hows the egg cooked. definitely a scale of sensibility to insanity depending
fried, but i'm curious to see your scale
thats pretty crazy yeah. anyway - THE SCALE:
boiled - whether hard or soft, this is fairly sensible. you can pick up the exterior without making much mess. softer insides may create more mess but it's likely manageable if you know what you're doing
omlette - little worse because it's probably a little greased up from the pan, also if it's a proper omlette it's runnier on the inside and that could be messy. still pick-upable, though.
poached - kind of wet, and it will be more slippery and messier than a hard boiled egg. as soon as you bite into it (assuming youve poached it properly) the yolk will go fucking everywhere so unless you're doing it all in one mouthful you're fucked.
fried egg - this is pretty bad. probably a little greasy, hard to grip because it's thinner and more fragile, and if it's sunny side-up or over-medium the yolk will probably break and run all over your hands. if you've prepared them over hard or flipped them that will mitigate the problem, however it creates a new issue as a fried egg cooked all the way through fucking sucks.
scrambled - this is a mark of desperation. it's coated in butter (unless you're making absolutely awful scrambled eggs), it's in little pieces you either have to pick up individually or scoop up like some kind of animal. you then have to either eat out of your own hand like a horse. at this point youre beyond saving
help this is killing me. though i've never made scrambled eggs with butter. i also wasn't using my hand, i was eating it like a dog. and i was in fact eating a fully cooked fried egg
no for real like sit over there and drink your little beverage and stay tf out of the way let me cook
Keep me company but stay out of my way. The dream.
odysseus absolutely does present a threat to penelope if he perceives her as at all unfaithful, and i feel the unfairness of this, and i think people tend to undersell how much tension at least potentially exists between odysseus and penelope. but i'm also like. his reaction, all speculation aside, his actual reaction in the odyssey to her flirting with the suitors is delight, because he immediately ascertains that she is running a con. sorry that they're so in-sync in spite of the forces that try to drive a wedge between them, including their own misgiving hearts. sorry that they invented homophrosyne ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
oh, you meant they literally did, ok
would i, tumblr user thee odysseyofhomer, lie to you?
this is the only funny addition to this post
If you love yourself, don’t ever check to see when you last posted to AO3.
Not to sound like a decrepit, rambling corpse about it, but back in my day Word used to be a pre installed program that came with your computer, if you were running Windows.
No subscription. Just program.
On your computer. You got to use it forever and ever and never had to worry about it going away.
Because it was physically on your computer. As a program. That you actually owned. Not because you got it separately, but because it was a standard inclusion with your computer.
I'm sorry but I'll just never get over it. I remember when companies cared about their products being usable out of the box. I remember when our things belonged to us.
