How strange it was, to enter a bookstore and not tell herself that she could simply read whatever she wanted on the network. Most books these days were digitized for easier reading and better convince but the traditional way was still popular among many. Though, given her capabilities, she wondered why her instruction was to choose from the literary section for ages much younger than she. She could easily read college and university level books, this seemed like a step backwards. Perhaps, Mr. Tuesti had something in mind and this was simply a place to start.
She decided to find the books not based on content or summary, but simply the cover. If something stood out to her like shapes or patterns. Most childrenâs books were illustrated in the same fashion. She found one featuring many tales using animals as the characters and another about a caterpillar.
Returning to Mr. Tuesti, she held them both up for consideration. âAre these two satisfactory?â
Watching Leanna browse through the books was certainly interesting, and not only because it was a task Reeve doubted she had ever encountered before. She was already a person, in Reeveâs eyes, yet she had lacked many of the experiences that most people encountered before adulthood. It was perhaps a senseless wish to want to give someone like Leanna something not unlike the experiences many children had, yet he was willing to try.Â
As she brought the books, Reeve observed them and then nodded.Â
âCertainly.â He said. âWe will be taking those.âÂ
For a moment Reeve considered filing them under business expenses, wondering the face the poor accountant in charge would make, but in the end he decided to spare them the confusion.Â
âWhen you have some free time or your duties allow you to,â he told Leanna as they left, âread them, and tell me what you think of them.â
