Voicemails 📞 Kian
[Voicemail - 3:23am]
“H-..Hey angel.” Brandon sniffled quietly in the backseat of his cab, closing his eyes and pressing his head against the cool glass of the window as if it would offset any of the dread he was feeling. “I.. I know it’s late. I’m sorry for c-calling so late. I don’t.. I don’t want to do this over the phone but.. But I couldn’t wait to.. I couldn’t wait until morning to see you. I’m.. I’m going home, Kiki.. I have to g-go.. My p-parents.. They.. I have to..” His voice had been shaky as he spoke, eventually cracking as a sob escaped him and cut off the rest of his sentence before the line went dead.
[Voicemail - 3:36am]
“S-sorry. I’m s-sorry, I’m okay. I am.. I’m..” The whine in his voice and shaky inhale of breaths suggested otherwise but he’d calmed down enough to try and get out what he’d wanted to say. “No one.. No one will tell me what’s g-going on. They just.. They just said to come home and I.. I just left and I’m in.. those.. those ladybug pjs I got.. b-because you call me bug and I thought.. I thought it’d be c-cute.. Oh god, I haven’t c-called Joonie.. He’s.. he’s gonna be so pissed.”
[Voicemail - 3:48am]
“M-me again.” A slow, shaky sigh escapes him as he sinks into his seat, another sniffle leaving him. “I’m sorry for calling again.. P-part of me wants you to answer but I don’t.. I don’t want you to be upset with me. I’m.. I’m trying not to spiral so I’m thinking about this.. about you because... I’m scared and.. I don’t want to think about that..” His voice softened. “..I don’t think I can take you on those adventures, angel. N-not yet. Not soon. I don’t.. I don’t know when I’ll be back. If I can come back. I won’t know until.. Until I know what’s going on.“

“I’m almost at the airport. I’ll.. I’ll text when my flight lands. N-North Carolina.. Did I ever tell you that? I.. I grew up with an.. an accent and everything.” The laugh he let out was weak, his sadness shining through. “D-do you want me to text? Or.. or call? I feel all over the place and I might forget.. I’m sorry.. I’m sorry and I’m just rambling and my head hurts... I wish you could hold me. Oh, we’ve stopped. I’ll.. I’ll call back. I’ll try calling home and.. and then I’ll call back.”
[Voicemail - 4:19am]
"I’m checked in now.. There was no answer so I’m.. Just.. Pacing. Waiting. I hope you get to go to Paris.. I hope you get to go on all our adventures. I wanted to show you the world and give you the stars. I’m sorry it took me so long to tell you how I.. I just feel like I wasted so much time but I also.. I cherished every moment.” He exhaled slowly, trying to ignore the headache the lights in the building were only seeming to make worse. His voice had gotten quiet, like he was admitting a secret but surely he knew, surely he’d been obvious even if he’d been nervous during all the time they spent together. "I suck, I know. For saying it now, for saying it like this but I don’t know if I’ll ever get another chance. All the things we had planned and.. and the great things that we talked about doing together. I just want you to know that... that even if we had gotten to do them all, Ki Hyun, I want you to know that falling for you will always be my favorite of all our adventures. I’m sorry, angel.”

Always taking pride in his card skills, Kian’s grin spread across his face from ear to ear as Brandon looked over his card. “Bee, if I told you, then it wouldn’t be so magical anymore!” Kian wriggles his eyebrows to continue playing on the suspense of how he executed his trick. He was just happy that it went as well as he had been practicing. Idly he started shuffling the cards when he heard the name drop of his favorite movie. “Okay, i’ll tell you there was a point of misdirection, but i’m not gonna tell you what it was. How else am I supposed to practice my tricks with you if you know what to look for?”
“Oh, but sweet Kiki, everything with you is magical.” After he spoke, Brandon let out a quiet giggle and shook his head slowly, his nose scrunched up. “I really should quit my day job and start writing disgustingly cheesy movies for Hallmark.” He offered him a fond smile, his gaze falling down to his hands when he realised that Kian wasn’t even looking as he shuffled the deck. “You’re right, I’ll stop looking and just enjoy the magic. Okay, that one wasn’t even on purpose, I’m just very happy that you wanted to share this with me. Can I pick another one?”
