Some questions abt the False gods and idols of Israel

A few days ago, I was reading about the false gods of Israel and some of the cults that appear in the Bible, and I found myself wondering if some of them are just other names for certain spirits and entities of the asile universe

One similarity I discovered was between the demonic goddess Lamashtu—who menaced women during childbirth and fed on the flesh and blood of newborns after snatching them while they were being breastfed—and Lilith; both figures reflect the dark aspects of motherhood and femininity

Another thing I wanted to know is how, in your AU, the goddesses Astaroth and Asherah came to be considered false gods—and not just them, but also Nehushtan and the cult of the Queen of Heaven.

hey, you're absolutely right, that's the main point 👀 Lamashtu and Lilith are one and the same person: it's normal for deities/deity-like influential creatures in this AU to have many personifications and names, but since Yahweh/Asherah is quite, ahem, a peculiar being born by chaos and is the parent of all living things, I guess it's not surprising that they require special treatment

as for Astarte/Asherah, she (as a female part of the Creator) has become considered a "false" goddess and faded due to misinterpretation and the increased role of males among mortal humans; at the same time, the cult of the Queen of Heaven still exists today, although in the last few centuries it hasn't been directly associated with Yahweh/Asherah, and has undergone some changes ("modern" Queen of Heaven it Miriam of Nazaretn)

NB! the "false" god/idol doesn't appear on their own, and as a rule it isn't a tulpa, this actually just an influential being like the primordial sheyd or malach, who has influence in the middle world

I mean, it's unlikely that the Creator would repeat the mistake with Deluge if they suddenly decide to destroy everything, so all would be very quickly and maybe very painful

the Whore of Babylon is more of a concept than a real person, but Saint John the Theologian was the first to tell about her: he fell into a prophetic trance (because of his close friendship with Jesus Christ, he knew something about other worlds, demons and angels) and, mentally falling through the worlds and all shrouds, saw the celebration in Sheol, which was led by Lilith as the eldest empress

of course, he was very impressed! ✨ when Lilith heard about this, she wasn't very impressed and said that John had GREATLY embellished her appearance by adding six heads and ten horns

Angel and his siblings' mom's name was Medea

Medea's mother was Greek from Syracuse, she gave birth out of wedlock, being unmarried: parents kicked her out of the house, and they moved from place to place for a long time, but near Palermo, Medea's mother was stricken by illness, and died in one of the villages (nobody knew what exactly this illness was, but sometimes she earned money selling her body, and this didn't work well)

Medea lived as a hanger-on at the local church and felt quite lonely, although the community didn't leave her without help: mother often spoke to her in Greek and leaned towards Orthodox rites, and Medea missed native speech (no one in the village could really speak Greek, although they understood some phrases)

she was an orphan and penniless, so no one would have made a good match for her, but on one of the holidays she took a fancy to Enricu Costa, the youngest son in one of local families: the only thing the Costas could boast of was that they had quite a lot of pigs, but Medea had enough of that

the marriage wasn't made out of unconditional love, but Enricu never lifted a finger against her (although they quarrelled) and idolized her from the moment she undressed before the wedding night, being impressed by her fair matte skin: the other girls in the village were swarthy

Medea taught the eldest of the children, Angelo, speaking Greek, which later allowed him to gain a good reputation in the Palermo mafia: the eldest son was generally her favorite, while the twins loved their father more (Angelo treated hot-tempered father with restraint, although he respected him)

during the WWII, the Costas helped the partisans and mafia members who fought against Benito Mussolini's fascists

when the war ended and the children grew up, and many homes and opportunities were rumored to have appeared in Palermo, Enricu started talking about going there: Medea resisted, they quarreled for a long time, and eventually, after moving, Medea realized that she wouldn't be able to accept either the city or the fact that her husband had dragged both sons into a dubious business

before escaping, she tried to persuade Malena to leave with her (it would have been easier for a fourteen-year-old daughter to leave the place), but Malena refused to leave the brothers

Medea didn't feel much guilty for abandoning her sons, and was sad mostly because of daughter

when Malena returned home many years later pregnant and without her father and brothers, Medea thanked God for a whole week and tried not to think about the fact that she had practically NOT tried to save daughter before

unfortunately, Malena became infected during childbirth and died a few days later

Medea, who recently turned fifty-seven, took this loss as another test, and the child as a chance to try to do something right

the grandson was baptized, and Medea, after burying daughter, returned to Syracuse, where she raised him alone

for a long time, little Iason perceived her as a mother

Medea didn't tell him anything about the fact that his grandfather, uncles and father were involved in drugs and arms trafficking: instead, she said that they were honest peasants who died during the redistribution of land

when a military coup took place in Greece in 1974, ending the period of Regime of the Colonels, a several years after Medea took grandson and went with him to Athens, as far as possible from the place that devoured all her children

she'll never return to Sicily again; he'll do this a couple of times, being adult

Iason studied to be a pharmacist (he's the first in the Costa family to graduate!), speaks excellent Greek and works as a pharmacist in one of the pharmacies in the suburbs of Athens

around the time of the beginning of the main events, he married a local Greek gal, they plan to have two sons and a daughter

if we sum up, it turns out that, on the one hand, Angel's nephew has completely severed his family roots, something that Sicilians value so much (he doesn't speak Sicilian, he knows basically nothing about grandfather and both uncles, he has no idea who exactly his father is, and hardly will visit his mother's grave again more than couple of times), but on the other hand, it means that he can put down new roots, his tree won't be infected with diseases and will grow many new branches 🌻

the spirits of water appeared after, and they didn't possess their own consciousness and will, but shedim as thinking beings were created only from fire and wind, which is why they were considered "unfinished", — Yahweh/Asherah used all the components creating animals, birds and humans, while shedim, who were made of only two components, had to "finish" themselves on their own

A delicate question: has it ever happened, and how did Alastor react when men showed him... a special kind of interest? (Read: sexual or romantic) - I’m thinking about what might have happened in Sheol, but it seems to me that it could very well have happened in his mortal life, considering that some might have realized Alastor was just friends with women, without any sexual or romantic intentions, and... drew the wrong conclusions. Did anything like that happen in his mortal life or in Sheol?

this happened several times, Alastor laughed and just replied "ha, no"

when Angel Dust did it, he replied "ha, yes" and died looking at how Angel was trying to figure out if this was a joke or not (Angel wasn't trying to seriously woo him, embarrassing aggressive flirting for him is a way to dominate the other person)

as for the situation during his mortal life: when a man pointedly communicates with a large number of gals, flirts, goes dancing with them and escorts them home, without paying much attention to the matrimonial status of a lady, he's MORE likely to be mistaken for a not very well-hidden womanizer who simply prefers not to bring matters to open adultery or other consequences

Alastor was fine with that, this jerk likes attention, and he liked when other men discussed him and even envied

one day one of Al's colleagues tried to spread rumors about his homosexuality (he was annoyed that Alastor was close friends with his wife), but for all the reasons described above no one believed these rumors

considering how widely this topic is presented in vivzieverse (almost never, even Millie's case shown with tears), I'm not surprised that it seems strange and too much to you when female characters gets pregnant, and many perceive this as a normal thing, and they even have children 😄

maybe because pregnancy is either not taboo in this AU, or is just a part of customs and traditions, as humans have given birth to children for centuries? maybe because pregnancy is not a fetish, but a temporary condition? maybe because woman may be pregnant, and this doesn't make her useless and excluded from everyday life and events? maybe because modern media should treat moms better? maybe because I'm a fertile woman myself, and even if I'm a childfree, I know that woman can make another choice? maybe MAYBE because not everyone here was in such kind of state?

and maybe because it can be a symbolism, an indicator of love between characters, a tragedy, a plot point, a dumb consequence of unprotected sex, or just a reason to joke!

oh, to be honest, I've roughly described the main storyline in this post, but I'm not always sure about many things yet, canon or not, I come up with details in the process and just want to pay attention to the characters and various events 😄 this is not some kind of epic adventure, it's more like a bunch of stories of people from the past and present, so, I think there will be a lot of new things in the blog, even for me

in general, I spent too little time on the third phase, when winter came to Sheol, and Charlie's asile faced certain difficulties in terms of survival, so... I plan to do more! and to think about the details of the main plot points

when the cold season began in Sheol due to the Cocytus break, the ground froze and snow fell, Angel was confused because it was the first snowy winter in his entire life
