Some things never change. Like Gossip Girls pathological need to ruin everyones lives with drama.
It took her a moment to shake off her dissociation, but when she noticed Jason across from her, she smiled brightly at him. "Honestly, at this point I'd just settle for the answers to my anatomy test on Thursday." Scarlett released a small laugh, doing her best not to lose herself in the stress of the impending test. Jason was speaking to her, and she wanted to focus on that. "Are you having a nice time?" She asked, fighting a yawn.
I'd do anthing to make her smile. Jason thought to himself even as he picked up on the slightly nervous tone in her voice as she talked about her upcoming test. "Nervous? You shouldn't be. You're the smartest person I know, Scarlett." He meant it, she was so smart, it was a little intimidating. "I am, it's one of the better events Logan's hosted. So far anyway, that might change with the matches though." Jason had chossen not to put a card in the mailbox, and he was praying that Scarlett hadn't either. "Are you having a nice time?"
"In my experience, only two things equal a 'Happy Valentine's Day' and that's kissing or tequila. Which one do you want?"
@tfrstarters
Jason laughed. "To avoid any awkwardness, I'll take the tequila." Kissing the sister of the girl he was infatuated with? Not a good idea.
After having been whisked away for three months out of obligation to the grandparents he barely knew, Dean found himself back on the Upper East Side, crashing yet another Logan Hunter party. As soon as he got back, he had immediately went looking for Rose and, of course, his search had brought him here. Typical.
"Yes, Ms Fitzherbert, I've seen the shrimp puffs." He snapped at the older woman, having no patience for her at all. "Have. You. Seen. Rose?"
@tfrstarters
"Ms. Fitzherbert, how nice to see you. I believe that waiter over there has some fresh shrimp puffs." Jason said, pointing to a waiter on the far side of the room and watching as she predicatably scurried off to investigate. "Looking for Rose?" He asked. "I saw her by the bar a few minutes ago." the less than up to date information probably wouldn't help much, but he wanted to see his brothers friend get the girl. A miracle like that might just make him believe in love again.
The party was bustling all around her as Scarlett sat in a booth alone, staring down at her third glass of champagne that she definitely shouldn't have been drinking with all the Adderall she had secretly been taking. All she could think about was the deadlines she had coming up, and how she definitely shouldn't be wasting time at a party, but as her mother reminded her, it was rude not to make an appearance.
So she sat there, staring at her drink, completely unaware of the person approaching her.
@tfrstarters
Jason had been watching Scarlett for a few minutes, as she stared morosely into her champagne. It was a little concerning, she was usually the quieter sister, but not this withdrawn. He realised he probably looked creepy, standing there brooding, but he needed a moment to gather his courage to approach her. So there he stood, sipping his whiskey and wondering if he should have gone with tequilla instead.
Taking a deep breath and telling himself it was now or never, he made his way over to her, placing his rocks glass across from hers on the table top. "Has that champagne given up the secrets of the universe yet?" he asked.
"Okay, let me get this straight... we put a thing we love on this card and the magical Powers That Be pair us up with one person? One?" Ruby was waving her blank card around at the injustice of it all. "A room bursting at the seams with the most beautiful people in New York, and I only get to maybe make-out with one?"
@tfrstarters
Jason couldn't help the amused look that had taken up residence on his face as he listened to Ruby ranting. "You don't have to go with the cards." He said as he sipped his whiskey and giving a casual shrug. "I'm not planning to. You can do whatever you want. Sure, Logan might crash out, but don't let that stop you."
A Fairchild Ball... Do we think Jason Walker will throw hands at this one?
Well, it has been a while since we've seen Jason Walker on full display. I can tell you one thing for certain, Benji Howell certainly won't be agreeing to being Scarlett Vandervort's date again. Unless everyone's feeling tragically nostalgic.
Almost breaking my hand again is not on my to-do list.

Another Logan Hunter party. Another chance for Scarlett to get out of the house instead of obsessing over medical textbooks and practice tests. Another chance to interact with one Jason Walker; not that he ever made that an easy task with all of his brooding. Still though, it did provide Scarlett with some time to simply admire him from afar without being caught. “You know, I’ve heard that if you stare into her eyes long enough, the universe will grant you three wishes.”
~*~*~
Jason felt a smile tug at his lips at the sound of he voice. He’d be lying if he said he hadn’t noticed Scarlett the second he’d walked into the room. He was a moth and she was a flame, he couldn’t ignore her if he tried. And he had tried, he’d been dating, it was nothing serious but it allowed him to convince himself and everyone else that he could and would move on. Just not tonight.
“Does is still work if you ask for infinite wishes? Everyone knows that’s at least one of the things to wish for.”
Jason sometimes genuinely wondered why he kept coming to these Upper East Side parties. Sure, it was a chance to see people like Nick and Carter, and perhaps a certain Vandervort sister, but he found himself enjoying them less and less these days. At least the Hunters kept good scotch, he mused, swirling the amber liquid and ice in his glass as he looked at one of the large photos of Ceren displayed around the space. @tfrstarters

Jesse. It gave both everything and nothing away at the same time. To his credit, Jase hadn’t immediately started swinging punches and accusations. His brother had cleaned up his life a lot in the past couple of years, you know? Cool job, cool place. He seemed happy. But Jesse knew that he’d been avoiding him. If it weren’t for their mom and the power of the emoji, Jason would still be dodging him fifty years down the line.
Which was fair enough.
Had Jesse meant to keep this bombshell to himself? No. Well, not at first. He let himself get in his head about it, let the ‘hero complex’ take over and made the mistake of thinking he knew better. That he would be protecting his mom and Jason. What they didn’t know couldn’t hurt them, right? It made Sophia’s secrets hit that much harder too…
He had set down the sandwich he’d taken a bite out off. Man, this was gonna suck. Jesse looked at him briefly but then he looked away. Coward.
“Are you going to ask?”
~*~*~*~
Jason loved his little brother, he did. But Jesse had this annoying habit of assuming he knew what was best for other people, and not letting them decide for themselves. It something Jase knew he did with the best of intentions, but it had a noticeable pattern of backfiring.
Like when his brother had inadvertently broken up Dean and Rose. Jason had accidentally let that information slip to his brother, but he hadn’t expected Jesse to just keep it to himself and not confront them, although in hindsight he should have known that was exactly what his conflict avoidant brother would do.
And now here they were again, with Jesse keeping information to himself to avoid conflict, only for that information to come out and cause conflict anyway. Jason could already feel the telltale throb of a headache building up behind his eyes as he fought to keep his tone and expression neutral.
“Would you tell me the truth if I did?”
[ walker-on-sunshine ]
Had Jesse been avoiding his big brother since the bonfire bash (now there’s alotta b’s!)? Yes, yes he had. Of course he’d been preoccupied with Sophia- with his marriage- but that wasn’t the only reason. The thing was, it was true. Jesse had a run in with their infamous, elusive, father and he’d told him to scram. And then he’d kept it a secret. It had been foolish, of course it had, thinking it would never come to light.
It shouldn’t have happened like this though. Not because of frickin’ Gossip Girl.
The door opened to his mom’s house while he was just about to bite into a sandwich. There was nowhere to run. Jesse swallowed his pride along with the sandwich knowing this was gonna hurt when it came out again. Straight from the horse’s mouth.
“Hey, Jase.” @itsyaboy-jase

The respite from Gossip Girl’s relentless pursuit of what she would probably call the truth had been good for Jason. He’d found a job through a friend of a friend’s brother managing a trendy boutique art gallery in SoHo the owner of which was currently planning to expand to other locations as business boomed thanks to the artists Jason had convinced to show their works with them, he had moved out of home again into what some would probably call a glorified shoe box in Mid Town. He’d even started dating again in an attempt to move on from Scarlett. Things had been going pretty well.
Until Logan’s annual Bonfire Bash ushered in the return of Gossip Girl and the news that his father had seen and spoken to his brother and Jesse hadn’t said a word. Jason knew his brother was staying with his mom, so he’d made every effort to avoid coming over, unsure how to feel about his brother lying to him.
But he was weak, at least when it came to his mom, as half a dozen pleading text messages with various sad faced emoji’s had finally broken him. So here he was, standing in the doorway of the family home, face to face with Jesse who if he wasn’t mistaken had just swallowed a bite of sandwich whole. He’d promised his mom he would be civil.
“Jesse.”

Hey, as long as you’re not offering “sex on the beach” to my wife, we’re all good. For the record though, mom would call you majorly cringe. You’d get unfollowed on Insta so fast. It’d be devastating.
Come on, I would never do that to you or Soph. Her sisters are still fair game though, right? [ His unrequited feelings for the eldest Vandervort sister aside, he could still flirt with them both. It didn’t have to mean anything, even if he wished it did. ] Ouch. Words hurt, bro. And mom would never.
Dad came back? And Jesse didn’t tell me?
[ walker-on-sunshine ]
Does your mother know that you talk to other people like that, Jase?
No. And you’re not going to tell her, you little tattle tail.
juliettevanderbilt:
I would rather just take the rum straight but I will take anything at this point.
Straight rum? Sure. The sex on the beach thing was just a drink suggestion slash joke and not me hitting on you by the way.
s-carlettvandervort
“Oh, um… I’ve never had either so I have no idea what kind of girl I am. Pretty sure I only know those are drinks because of Sapphire.” She paused briefly, “Hi Jason.”
“A first timer! Honestly, unless you’re allergic to pineapple or coconut, a piña coalda really goes with the vibe.” He grinned at her, his own slight beer buzz allowing him to relax slightly instead of being rendered speechless by her. “Hey, Scar. It’s good to see you.”
Can I interest you in a Piña Colada? Or are you more of a Sex on the Beach kind of person?
