“A completely open, unpredictable future makes me horribly anxious. (…) It’s as if I’m supposed to walk through a forest without being allowed to inform myself whether or not it’s full of wolves.”

Bilinguals overwhelmingly report that they feel like different people in different languages. It is often assumed that the mother tongue is the language of the true self. (…) But, it first languages are reservoirs of emotion, second languages can be rivers undammed, freeing their speakers to ride different currents.

New studyblr - gradblr
Hello everyone!
I am İrem. I am 22 years old. I have a BA degree in English Language and Literature and I’m currently doing my masters degree in Educational Sciences - English Language Teaching at Bilkent University, Turkey. I have been a member of the studyblr community since 2015 summer, but I was following the studyblrs from my side blog (this blog actually:)), itwasapostcard.tumblr.com But since I started to my masters degree I decided to have a study blog, which surely will be a great motivation for me! I know that there is also that #gradblr community for graduate students, but my blog is going to be a mix of #studyblr and #gradblr. So the link of my new blog is iremismastering.tumblr.com Oh and I am going to track #iremismastering
Some of the studyblrs I like to follow are @studyign @briellestudies @courtneystudies @elkstudies@post–grad @caffeineandcollege @capricornstudies @english-literature-student @fatima-is-studying @littlestudychic @obsesifcaliskan @secretdiaryofamedstudent
I wish you all the best! Let’s keep up the good work and get those degrees!
Change is inevitable. No matter if it’s good or bad, change is one of the few things in life you can always rely on. Don’t fear it, but feel reassured - you won’t live the same life all along.

new metric for your personality as an adult = what you named your most iconic stuffed animal as a kid
i had and still have a long eared animal creature made out of socks named wronky
I had a clown named Clown and a perfectly normal routine earth horse named Pegasus.
I question my judgment.
i had a calico tyco kitty kitty kittens purring cat toy that i named Metallica
A cat named Chairwoman Mao, as I couldn’t pronounce “meow” and instead said “mao” and almost always named animals after the sounds they made
I had a gold fish last year and before I could get a tank it had to live in a bowl, then it's bowl was broken on its own (I'm serious it cracked all of a sudden) after I got the fish tank I put it into the tank with some ornaments. Then I realized the glass tank got a hole and the water was leaking. After I fixed the tank I named the fish Oddysseus. Because it was a hero who fought for and earned his name!
Unfortunately two months later Oddysseus caught up a fish illness and fought for a week, died as a hero, worthy of his name..

Someone hold my hand and do that little thumb rubby thingy.
Do you ever meet someone and you just think to yourself, wow, I hope this person never feels sad. They don’t deserve that.
