Should have faked sick and slept in to write songs in your makeshift studio den but you ate cereal instead and I'm out here on my balcony smoking a cigarette drinking milk again watching planes fly overhead engaged in spherical dialogue between the dark and light of me pondering vice and purity and where between I want to be 'cause I'm not a smoker no I'm not a smoker most of the time still it helps me find the words to accumulate verse for whatever that's worth I said I wanted it to hurt maybe I should get me one of those colouring books they sell to folks who buy magazines at the supermarket counter The Zen of Busy Hands and an untethered mind but right now I'm smoking cigarettes
