June 27, 2021, Sunday, Bedok Reservoir Hike

I always wanted to go to Bedok Reservoir for a hike as I always see the big lake on my way to Changi Village beach. On June 27, I had nothing to do on a Sunday morning and decided to go for a walk around the 4km reservoir. I am pleasantly surprised by the reservoir, and it is beautiful, and on a Sunday, there were a lot of joggers. Not a bad place to live in Bedok, and I wouldn't mind moving there and rent a home right in front of the lake. I walked around the lake, but many discrete sections hide-away that you could venture if you spend more time there, and you would discover many hiking surprises.

June 25th 2021, Bukit Timah Reserve Hike

It was a productive day at work, and we make an online sale which I am happy about. I also logged in to Helium 10 and did my keyword research for my new product launch. Though not 100% completed, I am glad about the progress. I needed a break for fresh air, and so I journeyed to BTR for a hike.

BTR is full of lush green forest and very suitable for nature lovers. The slope up to the summit was pretty steep, and it was great for exercise and got your heart pumped for the elevations. I climbed up to the top of Bukit Timah hill, and it started to rain. I stopped by the hut at the top of the summit to hunker down for the rain and take a break to drink the icey cold water I prepared for the hike.

I stayed in the hut and sheltered for 15 mins, and my patience wore out, and I started my hike down in the rain. It was pretty nice to be hiking in the shower, and I took a path down to the dairy farm nature walk and took a bus back home from there.

I decided to do a non-outdoor hike as the weather was too hot, so I journeyed to Changi Airport for a walk to take a break from working from home. Since I moved back from San Francisco to Singapore, I had been to Jewel once, and I was very impressed with the big in-door cooling water fountain and the architecture of the building and wanted to go back and spend more time exploring the place.

Due to COVID-19, terminals 1, 2, and 3 were closed; only the Jewel terminal was opened for visitors that day. It was tranquil and empty, and I could see the retail businesses are suffering, and they looked very pitiful and desperate for customers. I didn't spend very long there, but maybe after COVID-19 lockdown, I will go back and spend the entire day there.

Rail Corridor Hikes from Bukit Timah Reserve to Bukit Merah, 22nd June 2021

On this day, I did a surprisingly long and tiring hike from Bukit Timah Reserve Park to Bukit Merah Terminal along the Rail Corridor Trail. Unfortunately, the trail is too long, and I couldn't hike to the end and had to take a bus home halfway at Bukit Merah Terminal. Luckily there was a bus 57 that goes directly back to my house. But I think I will try again to finish the entire hike someday to the end of the trail, which I believe ends at Marina Garden By The Bay. My favorite part of the hike is the old houses along the commonwealth area that don't look like HDB flats or private housing, but they are ancient raggedy looking and quiet, and they bring back memories of the old days of my late grandparents' house. I wonder they are for sale. I would purchase one for and redecorate it for my second home. I like that area for being so close to nature and the serenity it provides.
