the SAT comes to Broomstown, part one
my SAT is literally tomorrow and so as i lay awake at 2204 i decided to make this my favourite character's problem through self-projection because she literally feels like me but older and blonde and smart 👍🏻
also these are uneven parts please bear with me
headcannons to know beforehand:
when Jin seems stressed, tired, or overwhelmed, the Rescue Team calls her 'Jinny'
Jin was born and raised in South Korea (aka where the show originated) but moved to America just before college application season (think like a year or two before)
Jin being super smart tested out of a LOT of grade levels growing up to the point where she entered college at 14
so basically she started working towards the SAT when she was 13
but she had been preparing her whole life for the CSAT, the Korean version of the SAT
so she wasn't too far behind
oh also she absolutely got a 1570 first try. perfect math. im jealous. Jin please manifest yourself into me tomorrow 🙏🏻
ok so we're gonna time this during present time where everyone else is out on patrol. i think im gonna write this like little paragraphs and then headcannons and then fall asleep but somehow hit the publish button before i caw shew
Jin had absolutely no clue what she'd gotten herself into.
"It's just a book, what's the worst that could happen?" she'd thought to herself hours before. With the high schoolers spamming the bookstores with SAT Prep books, Town Hall being vibrant with cheers from score reveals, Jin just...didn't want to miss out. It'd been a fun challenge for her back then, and with literally nothing to do at the station while everyone was out, it at least gave her something to do.
And gave her reassurance that her failed super suit, amongst other inventions, was definitely flukes that didn't say anything about her intelligence.
Her pencil danced across papers as she mindlessly solved question after question, reciting formulas and concepts with minimal effort. Only once did she stop to make sure she had truly solved for r after she forgot to write her steps out.
Her calculator remained untouched. She never really needed it past fourth grade. She'd touched her hand into mental math and became obsessed with being a human calculator.
"This is equal to that...raise that to two-thirds...set n for six...hm..."
Her non-covered ear was pressed so closely to the book that she didn't even hear the garage doors opening a few feet behind her, didn't hear the chorus of "Hi, Jin!" as the Team rolled in.
A beat of silence. "Jin?" Helly repeated. He pouted when he still didn't get a response.
im sorry i know its such a weird cut but im so tired 😭 please check back on this post for updates which will likely come in less than 24 hours :)
