I do feel as if people are leaning way too hard into the 'Susie is just sleeping in a closet with a pile of toys! It's so sad' thing. Deltarune deals with escapism, but it's just a metaphor, to pretend the Dark Worlds textually aren't real is to do a disservice to the darkner characters we meet who are presented as real people who we should have sympathy for, especially ralsei, and the real world concequences of this world are incredibly apparent. It also really underscores her whole arc. It's the 'it was a dream' trope applied to Fandom theoryslop.

I roll my eyes when i see posts talking about how actually tragic and sad the final scene in ch 5 is because darkners aren't real

yeah like. this isn't sad because darkners aren't real. this is sad because she's in a place in her life where the only solace she can fully find is in a world that noone would believe existed- disconnected from the world she knows. she's happy, but it's melancholic to think that this is the place she considers home and to think on why her life has led to this place. if that makes sense

i thought the main tension at the end of chapter 5 is that we know what susie wants wont last. the problem is that the dark worlds aren't safe, and we know that everything we do, every dark fountain that gets opened, is one step closer to the literal roaring armageddon. but even more than that, like half of chapter 5s runtime is dedicated to the flowers and pushing the point that they cant be brought to castle town, but susie actively denies that she cant get the happiest ending for all of them. its dramatic irony, damn it!
