Vices and virtues! Alec looks sad here, though he is very happy in Born to Endless Night (if sleep-deprived). Humility here is not the idea of being humble or lowering yourself, but as in Jewish thought: “In Judaism humility is an appreciation of oneself, one’s talents, skills, and virtues. It is not meekness or self-deprecating thought; is not to think lowly of oneself, but to appreciate the self one has received.” (Good old Wiki.) I’d like to think Alec has come to a place of peace and loves himself as everyone around him loves him.

A general Alec/Malec question:

Cassie! Born to Endless Night… Is by far my favourite Shadowhunter story that you have written! I wasn’t expecting to be back in Magnus’s head again, but it was fantastic as always! The Lightwoods fighting to hold the little blueberry the longest? I can honestly say that I never expected that from them…. Given his background. The part about George and the boy band, and the “pocket-size vixen” made me laugh so hard. Will we be getting any more Malec and little blueberry stories in the future? — Emily

Thank you! They were so much fun to write about. I love the Magnus/Max/Alec family — and I will share with you a secret: it’s going to get bigger. So yes, you’ll see them again in books, and maybe there’ll be more short stories someday —I don’t think we’ve quite decided yet — but if there are, I am sure Magnus and Alec will play a part.
