Rescue November Day 3:  Boulder  (Still a bit sick)
(((Boulder would totally approve of this image.)))
Why is everyone talking about pumpkins???
Because itâs Halloweâen! Â Or, almost Halloweâen. Â Thatâs the day Humans carve scary faces into pumpkins, put candles inside them, then spend the entire evening adjusting them so they donât catch on fire.
Although I'm not the target audience, "Rescue Bots" has helped me a lot
The show is adorable and really well written. I love the cameos and the characters. I donât think Iâve ever gone away from an episode without a grin on my face.
look if we rp, you are more than welcome to send me headcanons at ungodly hours, TALK IN ALL CAPS ABOUT OUR BABIES, and send me like ten memes a day. I honestly wonât be annoyed and I wonât mind. In fact, I want you to.

Sparklings and Miners
Tiny servos rubbed at his optics again before the little one puffed air through his vents. Once he was satisfied everything was working correctly he tried to open his optics again. That was a mistake. The light was painful and the soot managed to get on the delicate equipment.
He whined softly and rubbed at his optics more, tensing up when he heard someone speak. The little one pouted when he was plucked up.
When the cloth cleaned away the pain in his optics and what was left over him he gave a relieved little smile. Sensitive optics attempted to open again, managing to squint and see the big mech.
Little servos moved up to gently ouch the odd symbol on Boulderâs Chassis. The dirt marked it up a bit but he was just curious. What did this mean? He knew what the inside symbol was but what was the outside ring for?
Boulder wiggled one digit in front of the tiny, curious hands. Â What was it about this little thing that made him feel so... protective? Â It was hard to describe.Â
 Maybe he wouldn't---
"What've you got ther--GAH!"Â
A loud voice broke through his concentration on the sparkling. Â Looking up he saw the fembot he'd been working with earlier, peering down at the little one on his lap.
"Where did you find THAT?", she poked at the blanket as if it would bite.
"I found him at the entryway to the mine we were working at, " Boulder said, "At least I think it's a Him. Â I don't know his name yet but--"
"But you NEED to get him back to whoever he belongs to," snapped the fem, "Someone's gonna be pretty angry if they think you're trying to steal him away."
Boulder looked down at the sparkling once more, "He said he didn't want to go back to the person he belongs to. Â I was thinking--"
"No, you weren't thinking. Â You were feeling.", she interupted again, "You need to stop that right now and get him back to his own people."
Boulder didn't know who this fem was but he was starting to dislike her tone. "I can't just leave him here! Â Especially if someone could hurt him, not to mention how dangerous the mine is."
The fembot sighed and sat down on a case near Boulder.
"I know what you're thinking. Â You're thinking of keeping him, aren't you?"
The green mech looked sheepishly at the ground. "Maybe. Â Maybe a little."
"You can't do that. Â You can't keep him." She put one hand on his and tried to get him to look her in the optics. "What're you going to do? Â Keep him in your footlocker in the barracks? Â We don't have any facilities at HQ for sparklings. Â They'll toss you out for even asking to keep him."
"Well... maybe I could.. you know..."
"No you couldn't.", she said, "So you quit the Rescue Bots and .. then what? Â You've no credit, no home, no energon. Â So you sell what you can take with you from HQ. Â That won't get you a room in the cheapest places. Â And that little one will need fuel and warmth and shelter, not to mention upgrades and an education. Â Maybe you'll get lucky and some contractor will hire you under the table. Â You still can't register him as yours - he's stolen property. Â No registration, no training, no citizenship numbers. Â What sort of life is that? Â He'll might make it to his first century. Â I doubt you will."
"Just... just trust me on this. Â Don't even think about it. Â Find his carrier and give him back."
She got up and left without another word. Â
Boulder sat, stunned. Â He'd seen and heard more horrible things today than he ever had before. The worst part of it all was what she just said.
The fact that she was right.
He sighed. Â Gathering up the tiny bundle in his arms he stood up and trudged into the waiting group of miners.
Did anybody ever tell the Rescue Bots that theyâre standing on Unicron???
I think there is a lot that they have failed to inform the Rescue Bots onâŠ
Maybe Prime is having a hard time bringing himself to explain everything? Maybe next cameo appearing mech/femme will slip up and drop some vital continuity.
I would laugh so hard if he did it out of sheer forgetfulness. Heatwave is like âso⊠done anything, recently?â And OP just calmly responds âwell yes actually, I visited the all spark for a time, met my past Primes, was given the gift of life once more⊠whatâs new with you and your crew?â
Sparklings and Miners
The sparkling was oblivious to everything happening outside of the bag, only coming to when he heard his name. With a small yawn he began looking around the bag. He peeked out before hiding back inside at seeing more bright red lights. They were too much for his adjusted optics.
He stayed curled up in the safety of the bag, giving the big servo that came in a small hug before releasing it and smiling up at the green mech some.
His smile went away and he gave a confused look at what he heard. Who he belonged to? Why him?
ââŠ. I donâ wanâ see âim⊠Is mean⊠Hurt my frienâsâŠâ He tried to hide in the blankets in the bag, clearly terrified of being brought to whoever owned him. Who wouldnât be? Born into slavery in the mines, a caste system all broken, the little guy was alive to serve and that was it.
Didnât want to see him? Â Boulder was confused. Â In his mind who you belonged to mean the sparklingâs carrier. Â He didnât want to go back to his carrier? Â âIs meanâ came through clear enough though. Â Maybe his carrier wasnât a nice person.
To Boulderâs understanding, sparklings were very rare.  Almost all âbots crawled out of the Well fully grown.  It was possible for two people to create a third, but it was so unlikely heâd never seen one until today.  It was a mercy he didnât mistake it for a minicon.  Only the creatureâs strange aura of helplessness and innocence marked it for what it was.
He felt a server on his shoulder. Â Boulder looked up to see the Boss smiling down at him.
âNice work, â the Boss said, âTake 5 then come back to the marker.â
âYes Sir!â
Boulder picked up the backpack, eased himself down to sit on one of the equipment crates and pulled the little mechling out of it. Â He used a corner of the blanket to wipe the worst of the grit from around his optics and intake.
He was an adorable little thing. Â
Without realizing it, Boulder hugged the tiny robot closer to him protectively.
Sparklings and Miners
@iwannatryeverything
The sparklingâs vents started gathering debris again and he tried to cuddle closer to the massive mech. When the light was put down he shut his optics tightly and yelled out in binary.
âGot âelp!â
The response on the other side was somewhat of a chorus of binary from quite a few mechs. Some were clearly in pain while other sounded alright other than debris in their vents.
The sparkling curled up against Boulder as they ran off, not sure what he was doing. Why did he put a light there? Why was he running away?
He squeaked when he was wrapped up in some blankets and put into a bag, unzipping it a bit. He slipped down beneath the surface and tried to curl up inside. The air here was filtered better and his vents werenât hurting as much. He would stay here.
The bouncing was more gentle than Boulder most likely realized and the little one was being lulled into recharge. His blanket was tightly wrapped around himself and was assisting in filtering the bad air from the good.
On the other side of the collapse and beneath it was a large number of miners. As the rescuers would go through they would find a makeshift berth here and there, severed limbs, and some smashed mechs that were long gone. Most were on the other side of the collapse, trying to dig through to get to their companions.
Nearly twenty mechs were trying to dig, only stopping when the wall came down and they could see the rescue bots. Immediately they shielded their optics from the bright red light of that flare and began to walk out of the debris cloud. All of their vents needed cleaning and a few needed repairs. Most needed many repairs, their injuries looking like they had existed for quite some time before this.
âWhere is Megatronus?â One of them demanded, vents huffing out some debris.
Boulder had been shown some pretty nasty holos during his training. Â He wasn't expected to perform medical duties, or even triage work, but it was assumed that he would still see some awful things out in the field. Â Even the engineering group could expect to find themselves facing mechs with terrible injuries. Â And once he'd been shown a medical cadaver. Â He thought he knew was a dead mech looked like.
Nothing could have prepared him for what he saw in the mines.
Ignoring the horrors at his pedes as best he could, he threw himself into bracing damaged walls, locating dangerous flooring that may collapse at any time, guiding those who could still walk to the relative safety of the outside.
He let the medic do his work on the injured.Â
One of the passing minors bellowed, "Where is Megatronus?"
Megatronus? Â That's a strange name for a person, Boulder thought. Â Maybe it was a nickname - like calling someone who couldn't manage to connect two magnetic bolts together "Solus".
"We'll look for your friend, I promise!", he yelled at the crowd, "Please head back to our base camp. Â If you can't walk that far, just sit tight. Â We'll help you. Â Follow the 'bot with the flare. Â She'll take you there."
One of the Rescue Bots had lit another marker flare and was waving it about like a lantern. Â A slow, meandering line of miners followed him in the direction of the bickering boss-mechs.
He stopped outside and swung the pack around to look inside. Â Unzipping the ties he reached in and patted the sparkling inside it.
âSorry itâs been such a rough ride,â he said softly, âItâll just be for a little while longer.  Then weâll find out who you belong to.|
