When you’re snorting cocaine off the bathroom counter of an underground disco club in 1976
Cy Twombly, Il Parnasso, 1964
…and I’m disgusted with dreams now — I want real things — live people to take hold of — to see — and to talk to — Music that makes holes in the sky —
Georgia O’Keeffe, in a letter to Anita Pollitzer, from Georgia O’Keeffe: Art and Letters (via dieworten)
City Lights Bookshop, 1956
It’s two o'clock on the edge of the morning She’s running magical circles around my head I head to ride on a dream she’s driving She turns to kiss me, I crash back into bed.
Listen to me, your body is not a temple. Temples can be destroyed and desecrated. Your body is a forest—thick canopies of maple trees and sweet scented wildflowers sprouting in the under wood. You will grow back, over and over, no matter how badly you are devastated.
Beau Taplin (via quotethat)
It’s strange how your childhood sort of feels like forever. Then suddenly you’re sixteen and the world becomes an hourglass and you’re watching the sand pile up at the wrong end. And you’re thinking of how when you were just a kid, your heartbeat was like a kick drum at a rock show, and now it’s just a time bomb ticking out. And it’s sad. And you want to forget about dying. But mostly you just want to forget about saying goodbye.
Beau Taplin (via quotethat)
Mauerbauertraurigkeit
n. the inexplicable urge to push people away, even close friends who you really like—as if all your social tastebuds suddenly went numb, leaving you unable to distinguish cheap politeness from the taste of genuine affection, unable to recognize its rich and ambiguous flavors, its long and delicate maturation, or the simple fact that each tasting is double-blind.
Zacheta, Polish National Gallery Of Art, is a place which combines modernity with history. Usually, it holds exhibitions, but painter Leon Tarasewicz used it as a canvas and transformed Zacheta itself into an actual piece of art. He covered the gallery’s staircases with paint. However, the chaotic look can be misleading, because in reality Leon had a clear vision of what he wanted to portray and carefully planned everything to look that way. At first, he painted the steps with base colors (blue, red, and yellow) at the top. Those three paths merge in one intersection which then combines their colors and everything splatters down the main entrance. (Source)
