i feel like we as a fandom don't talk about aemond jr enough. bro is literally the son of alys rivers and aemond targ don't f with him he has the power of god and anime on his side.

Aemond. Okay. Again is there a point to this? Bc if we’re going to explore some part of his psyche okay we can go in this direction but so far we have not at all and Aemond as a character just kind of turned into a one dimensional villain in s2. The show-runners have also gone out of their way to say they will not be addressing the incest bc it’s “normal” for them (as though that removes the psychological damage it would cause in a family) but you can’t say you’re not going to address the incest and then do this. That doesn’t mean turn the camera and go THIS IS WHY I’M LIKE THIS but the characters have to actually react to things that happen to them at times besides the exact second it’s happening.

So far this is just Alicent getting assaulted again. She’s now been sexually assaulted or had some kind of uncomfortable sexual encounter with Viserys, Aegon, Larys, technically even Helaena, and now Aemond and it literally never gets delved into, no one speaks about it. She has zero agency atp this is ridiculous. Aemond himself was also assaulted by an adult woman who looks like Alicent as a little boy on Aegon’s command (though Silvy didn’t have a choice either) and that isn’t addressed bc he basically never expresses any thoughts about anything besides the war or being jealous of Aegon. You CAN see the through-line but this is handled very sloppily and it seems to be a problem of the writing and not in-character reactions. So my thing is are we actually going to see it through and spend time on it after the initial shock this time even if its uncomfortable? An can Alicent not have anything else to do besides be quietly molested by every single man in that goddamn castle like hello

I don’t like this trend in media where struggling characters “have” to die. why aren’t addicts and outcasts allowed to have happy or hopeful endings anymore. I know things are bleak and people die but holy shit. the one grace of media is that you can CHOOSE to live in the best reality possible where EVERYONE can move on with their life and things can get better, not this defeatist nonsense.

So the season that had a radio station filled with vague clues, had a puzzle game and released coded broadcasts to unlock secret content, that looked dead face at the camera and said ‘I don’t believe in coincidences’ and has always encouraged reading between the lines.. had a completely formulaic finale with literally nothing original at all?? No big plot twist no big surprise? No reward for any of the puzzles or codes? Yeahhh. Like not even talking about queerbaiting they just baited us in general into thinking it would be actually good

i think endeavor is interesting, but he wasn’t interesting enough for all of that. i will see people be like ‘how could you like the villains but dislike endeavor, his character arc is so compelling, you get to see him go from a shitty awful person to someone that acknowledged what he did wrong and promises to do better’ like cousin did we not get that with bakugo already?? am i going crazy???

you know what would have made him more interesting than this forced damage control and pr in and out of universe? utilizing dabi and hawks to externalize endeavor's internal conflict between his sins as a father and good deeds as a hero, thes literally personify his sides and it could have made for such a great fight in act III

and that aside, endeavor facing not only dabi but also hawks, acknowledging what connects them, acknowledging hawks' role in his life, what dabi did to him and how these two parallel each other and what that says about endeavor, that there is no need for hawks anymore to feel indebted to him. endeavor doing his part so hawks can move on would have done so much to show that he has started to change, and that it's never too late to try and do better

but instead of any meaningful action, we got tacky shit like endeavor having fire wings, his ass got fatter, natsuo ignores his dying brother just to talk to his daddy etc etc

The two best reasons to ship anything are:

1.Incredible deep and detailed narrative themes. The parallels that seem to hit just right, the narrative foils that they can be to each other, the intricate dynamic that's both extremely complex and easily understood. The juxtaposition between something that's harsh and undoubtedly toxic, with the softer undertones, the parts where you read in-between the lines and find a mutual feeling of loneliness from both parts, their intrinsic understanding of each other comes from the mere fact that they're each others mirrored reflections and shadows. In the end both sides will be together forever, and you as an audience can clearly see their tragedy laid out before in a path that blurs pure anguish and tender romance
