THE VOLTRON PALADIN'S BEDROOMS

So many Voltron fanart and fanfiction out there depict how intricately decorated and well furnished each of the paladin's bedrooms are. They serve as further extensions of their personalities. Out of curiousity, I felt like taking a look at what the show actually gave us for comparison.

Here's what we see throughout the series of Team Voltron's bedrooms aboard the Castle of Lions:

ALLURA

Not sure what that shimmery water-like semicircle thing by her room's entryway is supposed to be. Doubt it's a curtain given the ones by Allura's bed look like...well...normal curtains. Allura's bed also kinda looks like a dentist's chair...

A little odd to have that much space but only two furniture items and no decor. It's so empty-looking compared to what I'd imagine the princess of an entire planet's room to look like. Maybe it's an Altean aesthetic thing...like some kind of Space Japandi.

SHIRO

Pretty spartan, but the Shiro's is only paladin bedroom to feature mood lighting!

Just kidding, that's what the rooms look like with the lights off. Boo.

HUNK

This is the only glimpse we ever get of Hunk's room. Pretty standard room setup. I'll give him a pass for having no decor because he's only been with Voltron for one day at this point.

PIDGE

Pidge's bedroom is the only paladin bedroom with any actual decor and personality. She really was the favorite!

KEITH

We spend the most time in Keith's bedroom throughout the series than any other Paladin's.

SEASON 1

Keeeeeith!! Ew, no! What are you doing wearing your shoes in bed?! No! Bad Keith!

By the small shadow being cast, there appears to be a small alcove just to the left of the entry door.

...How exactly is Keith hanging his jacket up on the wall?

SEASON 2

Hmmm, I'm kinda confused by this scene. Keith has two doors leading into his bedroom? Or is the door to Keith's left the first evidence we've seen of an en suite bathroom? The things an obsessed VLD fan is left to wonder about...

As a quick aside...Keith, where the hell are your bedsheets?!

SEASON 3

In what is colloquially known as 'The Bedroom Scene' (heh), the second 'mystery' door in Keith's room is no longer there.

Did Keith perhaps switch rooms during season 2? Could he not handle being so close to Lance?!

By season 3, seems like Keith's moved back to his original room (soooo...he's finally ready and willing to be close to Lance! Aww!).

Most likely the second door in the S2 bedroom was just an animation inconsistency, but I prefer to speculate wildly.

Speaking of Lance, there's also this glowy alcove with what looks like storage space behind him here. Perhaps intended as a place to display prized space tchotchkes? Keith, you need to step up your hoarding game!!!

LANCE

Don't know why, but I'm bewildered by how little of Lance's bedroom we see during the series. Lance always seemed like he was built up to be the main character/audience surrogate, so it's kind of surprising we don't see much of his personal space.

Peeking behind Lance here, we see his room is the only one that has those black stripey things on his wall right next to the entry door. Keith has them as well, but they're smack dab in the middle of his room.

Really had to squint here to make out that this is actually Lance's bedroom. On previous viewings, I thought Lance was just playing in some communal space. It's much more depressing that Lance brought in the whole gaming apparatus to his own room. Further evidence of Lance isolating himself from his teammates throughout s4.

Anyway, clearly the fanon depictions of the Paladin's bedrooms are so much more creative and fun. Pinned photos on their walls of Earth, scenery from the planets they visit, the aliens they meet, and of each other, of course! Collections of trinkets on display from various places they go, strings of fairy lights along the walls, actual storage space, closets, and furniture! Oh, and en suite BATHROOMS! With SHOWERS! Someplace fitting for Lance's beauty regimen supplies.

I'm so grateful to all the amazing VLD fan artists and authors for filling in the gaps where canon fell short.♥️
