Found a song yesterday that I made, maybe about 5 years ago for a song writing module at uni and thought I’d share it. The idea was to write in a style or use instrumentation that you wouldn’t usually use, so I decided to build a track using only my voice (except for one synth effect). What I produced wasn’t really like a-cappella though, it was inspired more by a song by Emmy Rossum called Slow Me Down. Even though it was a long time ago i’m still actually kinda stoked how this came out to be honest. I sung each note separately and added effects and then pieced the notes together to make scales and chords and panned them all into their own spaces. My main criticism is that I sung a sound like “dooooo” so the initial letter sound gets a bit annoying after a while; it might have sounded smoother if I’d maybe hummed the notes or something, I don’t know. The singing is a little off key in parts but to say I recorded the song in my bedroom with just one mic and a laptop I’m quite pleased with it. The lyrical theme was based on the film “Hook” and Peter Pan in general and was about people I knew changing as they grew up and me thinking it was kinda lame. Anyway nobody cares about “personal” things on Tumblr anymore right, so I don’t need to be embarrassed about leaving this here just for my own memory archiving-ness. :)
Ben from Hemingway filmed an acoustic rendition of our song “A Mile High” while we were in Portland last week. Check it out.
you know a video is done extremely well when you start listening to the song and turn it off to go watch the video. every time. audiotree breathed so much life into this already superb performance. on a related note, the movement and liveliness of the camera, for some reason, create a substantial amount of overall sexiness. or is it just him? it might just be him. brb going to watch it again 6 or 7 or 35 times.

Rest In Power, Mr. Warrior.
Eternal favorite.
In the back I see many potential legends, some of them with Warrior spirits, and you will do the same for them. You will decide if they live for the passion and intensity, so much so that you will tell your stories and you will make them legends as well. I am Ultimate Warrior; you are the Ultimate Warrior fans and the spirit of Ultimate Warrior will run forever!
Fuck the king
Going to miss seeing True Detective’s beautiful opening credits every night.
