Out-of-context classic comic panels are the best. [x]

I don't own a hairbrush right now so I'm doing it Ariel style and using a dinglehopper
Tu me manques
‘Je mange le poisson’ = I am eating the fish
‘Je me lave’ = I wash myself
The verb ‘manquer’ means ‘to miss’, or ‘to lack’, so you’d think that ‘ Je te manque’ means ‘I miss you’, right?
Nope.
The verb ‘manquer’ behaves differently in French because it has a subtly different meaning. Instead of saying ‘I miss you’, in French you have to say…
‘Tu me manques’ - You are missing from me.
In English, ‘to miss’ someone is essentially a selfish feeling - ‘I miss you’ means that I have a feeling about you, but you’re not involved. In French, the person who is being missed is the person who has an active role in the action:
Je te manque = You miss me (I am missing from you)
The verb can only exist by connecting two parts that are no longer a whole, by expressing the part that is gone. I think it expresses the whole feeling of ‘missing’ someone in such a beautiful and accurate way.
And you, you spectacular unicorn, that’s how I feel about you. I don’t want to tell you ‘I miss you’, as if it’s the same as ‘I watch you’, ‘I like you’, ‘I eat you’, as if you are a passive thing that has no part in it. Like wanting you to come back to England because ‘I miss you’ is entirely selfish - ‘I miss you’ doesn’t take into account any of your feelings or goals or aims, only mine.
I don’t mean this to be depressing or guilt-laden, quite the opposite; I just want to make the point that when I say ‘I miss you’, it’s not because I am having a feeling that is about you. It’s because I am having a feeling that can only exist because I am a part of you, and you are a part of me. And we will always be part of each other.

There’s a website from 1999 called zombo.com that’s still running. It shows nothing but spinning dots, and says ‘This is Zombo Com. Welcome to Zombo Com. You can do anything at Zombo Com,’ over and over.
It was created when Flash animation was a new technology, and was meant to make fun of Flash introductory web pages that play while the rest of the site’s content is loading.

You are funny. Also, school's going well, I'm learning how to spend 20 minutes dressing a salad, using only a fork and a spoon, infront of customers in the restaurant. AND I'm learning how to flambe a banana. Look it up, it's ridiculous.
I’m writing an essay on phonetics and I accidentally typed ‘bowel’ instead of ‘vowel’. Twice.
even when a bowel has been weakened it is still at the top of the hierarchy
bowel moves from low to high

Also ‘diphthong’ is just funny on its own.
Ahahahahahahhaahahahhahaha you're funny
“You think everything’s fine until a dog shows up. Then you have to know what to do. You have to know how to assess the situation, and how to react.”
“What would you do if a dog showed up right now?”
“Why? Is one coming? Tell me. You have to tell me if you know. This isn’t a joke to me.”
- Charlie, Park Slope
“I’m having a bit of a crisis. Like an existential crisis, or whatever.”
“How come?”
“Well, I had this box I was really into for probably months. Then one morning it was gone, and it just kind of threw my whole world out of sync.”
“I’m sure another one will come soon.”
“You don’t get it.”
- Sasha, Midtown
“I have a degree in World History.”
“How did you get a degree in World History?”
“I found it.”
- Banjo, Bed-Stuy (Check out Banjo’s Instagram!)
Also how is school?? Tell me about school!
