i’m sorry for making you guys wait for these last chapters but summer has basically started now for me (yeah ik a bit late) you can expect the next and last chapter to come out this week!!!

KICK IT ! chapter seventeen

It was weird at first, having Jungwon home not has Jake’s guest but has yours, introducing him to your mom as your boyfriend was like a humiliation ritual, but that’s done so at least you can stop thinking about it now. And especially stop him from sneaking inside through the window.

You’re sitting on your bed, book on your lap while he’s laying next to you, doomscrolling on tiktok with no sound, holding your hand while you both do your thing. You thought having him as your boyfriend would mean being in constant chaos, instead you found yourself in much more calm than before.

Sure, you’ve gotten a couple of nasty dms, but those are easy to block. And people don’t really approach you when you’re surrounded by the soccer team. Your friends are honestly having a blast, and you’re happy. Extremely happy.

Jungwon bites your finger to catch your attention but by now you’re used to his shenanigans, so you let him be. Then he bites your palm and your wrist, you sigh while turning the page. “Are you ignoring me?”

Sometimes it feels like you could play those sensory videos for babies and he’d calm down for the entirety of them, only to come back as energetic as before. “What is it?” You ask, still looking down at your book, he puts his hands on the pages so you can read. His eyes on yours, looking serious.

“I want you to wear my jersey next week.” Oh. It’s the last game of the season, of course he cares about it, he’s been so busy at practice you could only see him at night. You didn’t expect him to ask you something like this so soon.

The idea is pretty scary, wearing his jersey at a match means putting things in a very, very serious situation. It’s not a instagram post or going out to a party together, it’s… different. You gulp, looking at him and, before you can make your mind up, he kisses your cheek. “You don’t have to do it.”

You stop him before he can go lie down and doomscroll again, your hand on his shoulder, he stops almost on top of you so your arms can wrap around his neck. He relaxes at your touch. At the end of the day, you want to make him happy, a couple of nasty looks won’t mean a thing against his smile.

“No, I’ll wear it. I really want to.”

KICK IT ! chapter fifteen

Jungwon is one of the kindest people you know, that is obvious simply by the fact that this pool party is full of his ex situationships. You’d love to be mad at him, thing is, you know he doesn’t do it because of some sort of ego. He’s just that incredibly, stupidly blind.

You’ve seen five girls say hi to him with a hug already, he didn’t even have the time to say hello to you because they kept interrupting, and now you’re drunkenly watching him from afar. Sunoo, bless his soul, is telling you all about his date, like, really detailed. But you can only focus on the way a girl’s fingers linger a little too long on Jungwon’s arm.

“How long has it been going on?” You turn to him so hard even the water moves, Sunoo laughs at you before splashing even more water. You can only hope he’s drunk enough to not remember this conversation tomorrow. “What- Who? What?” You laugh in embarrassment, there’s no way he found out just from you staring.

“I mean, you spend more time at soccer practice, you don’t reply to the group chat and you’re looking at everyone who approaches him like you want to make them explode with your head. So, how long?” Maybe hanging out with the soccer team lowered your standards a bit too much, apparently people can be smart. “A.. a couple of weeks?” Sunoo nods, and he is about to say something, at least until Sunghoon grabs him by the wrist and you’re left alone.

When you look towards Jungwon again, he’s laughing with a different girls. And it’s not like you have a say in who he chats or laughs or who touches his arm so sensually… You decided to not have a serious relationship with him, if you’re in this situation now it’s only because of you and you’re an idiot.

You sigh, getting down in the water, just to wet your hair. When you come back up, a girl is staring down at you with a slightly disgusted face. Oh, you forgot you had makeup on. You squint your eyes, trying to figure out who it is, you suck at recognizing people. She’s really beautiful, and you feel a little bit of a pervert when your eyes fall on her chest, it clicks when she rolls her eyes.

You move just enough to give her space, having no intention to talk to her, as far as you remember, she didnt even say sorry to you when she pushed you at the club. “He’s not going to look at you, no matter how much you stare.” Oh! She’s not nice is she. “I’m sorry?” She looks at you as if shocked you even have a voice. “At the club, right now, you’re not really his type.”

You’re too tipsy to make two sentences together that won’t make you sound like a jealous mess, you dont even know if you have the right to be. “I’m not one to fight over a guy, really.” You just laugh, running a hand through your hair and trying your hardest to not look back at Jungwon. She raises your eyebrows, you believe you’re a feminist but she’s really making you want to grab her by the hair and push her head under the water. Instead, you simply ask; “If you’re his type, why aren’t you two dating?”

When you’re back in the kitchen, you can feel a panic attack approaching. The pool was small, there were too many people, you’re friends were far and that girl just had to mess with you. You open the fridge, hoping to find a bottle of water but there’s only alcohol in there. Well, any other transparent liquid will do. The music is too loud, so you go up the stairs, Jungwon house is like a labyrinth, but you’re lucky enough to find a bathroom.

You didn’t want to spend your day like this, sitting on the bathroom floor with a bottle of maybe gin in your hands and your head full of thoughts. Honestly, all you wanted was to makeout in the hot tub. You hear a knock on the door, but they don’t even wait for you to answer before entering. When Jungwon sees you there, he sighs loudly, locks the door and sits next to you.

“Jay told me he saw you going upstairs.” you nod before letting your head rest on his shoulder. “Is everything okay?” His words are a little slurred, his smile is big and his eyes can’t stop going up and down on you. He kisses your temple and for a second you wonder what would happen if he did it in front of those people.

Would they look at you like Mina did? Tell you it’s not going to last long, because it’s Jungwon and you’re not even his type, they’ll probably make fun of you for even trying. “Penny for your thoughts?” A kiss on your cheek. Your jaw. Your neck. His hands on your hips, but it’s not helping. Your heart is racing fast and you don’t even feel real.

“Is this really working?” He stops immediately, his brows furrow in that, oh so attractive, way of his. “I mean… are you happy, Jungwon?” He gulps, his hands no longer grabbing but just holding. “I am the happiest i’ve ever been, are you not?” “I am!” You hide your face in his chest, this is wrong, you’re both a bit drunk and you’re a little too emotional. “I am happy, when it’s just us two.” You bite your lips, taking a bit breath, closing your eyes just to let your thoughts make sense. “Then reality hits and everyone is on you and i’m not, but if i were then i’d feel constantly at the center of attention and i’m anxious but i want you, i just don’t know what to do.”

His hands move from your hips to your back, hugging you gently as you calm down slowly, hearing the beat of his heart. This is nice, even if the bathroom floor is cold and you can feel your ass hurting. It’s just you two here, no loud music, not a single person looking at you. Jungwon looks at you once again, his expression softening before guilt flashes through his eyes. “We could.. go slowly. Post a pic on instagram, let them talk for a while, I’ll hold your hand when we go out and let it become the norm. Or even slower. I don’t mind waiting.”

“You like me that much?” “I do.”

KICK IT ! chapter fourteen

“I really need to go now,” As if he didn’t hear you the first three times, Jungwon whines in disappointment, his face hidden in your neck. His hands grab your hips one last time before he finally gives you space to breathe, not that there is much space in his car anyway. “Mmh do you really have to?”

You nod energetically as you move back into the passenger seat, looking in the mirror to make sure you look presentable and not like you’ve been making out with Jungwon in his car for god knows how long. “I can’t keep telling the girls i’m busy, they’ll figure out i’m lying eventually.” “Mhmh.” Jungwon takes your hand in his, his eyes are completely on you as you comb your fingers through your hair. He kisses your wrist, bites your fingers before you can move away.

When you get your lip gloss out of the purse you can hear him scoff, you’re tempted to just put your fingers in his nostrils, but instead you just free your wrist from his hold. “At least give me a kiss before putting that on.” You roll your eyes at him, but still peck his lips quickly, moving away immediately so that he doesn’t have the time to pull you in for another makeout session. “You’re a tease.” “And you’re spoiled.”

When you’re finally ready to leave his car, just to get in yours and finally stop making your friends wait, you see him pouting. You didn’t think Jungwon would be so incredibly clingy, you don’t mind that most of the times. After all you only see each other once every other day, and other than watching movies, chatting and kissing you don’t do much. You found out he has many more interests other than sports. He likes to watch movies, he reads sometimes, and, nerdiest of them all, actually likes legos.

“I’ll see you on saturday at your place anyway.” He lets his head rest on the seat, his eyes still going up and down on you. Not that you’re wearing anything revealing. Just a pair of jorts and a light blue top. “Yeah but that’s different. It’s a party and everyone will be there, like Jake and your friends and my friends and…” When you said you didnt want anything serious you didnt actually think about this part. Telling everyone how you’re just kissing Jungwon and hanging out with him would be weird, but not telling them feels like you’re doing something wrong.

“You don’t want to spend time with me in front of your fanclub?” You laugh, but he actually quiets down, he sighs and thinks about for way longer than he should. “I’m just kidding, Jungwon.” “I don’t like how you keep putting yourself down, you don’t even realize it.” You open your mouth to say something but you dont know how to respond. You gulp before running a hand through your hair. “I’m not… it’s that, you know. Your popularity can be overwhelming, that’s it.” He shakes his head, looking out of the window for a few moments, you bite your inner cheek.

“I won’t push you out of your comfort zone, you know that already.” You smile gently at him, you lean in to kiss him one more time, even if he doesn’t kiss you back. “Thank you,”He nods, even if he doesn’t seem too sure. You know Jungwon by now, the last thing he would want is for you to feel inferior. But you don’t feel that, not now at least. Not when he looks at you like you’re the only one worth of his attention. “Text me when you get home.”

KICK IT ! chapter thirteen

It’s an awful idea, letting Jungwon sneak in your room by the window is the stupidest, most reckless thing you’ve ever done. But also the hottest. His hair is pushed back, cheeks red from all the force he had to use to climb up, and he’s wearing a sleeveless shirt.

“Jake is in his room, you could’ve easily come through the door.” He smiles, his eyes taking quick glances at your room. Your room that is full of posters, figures and has a couple more bookshelves than any normal person would ever need. “You didn’t tell me.” You just roll your eyes and close the window.

When you turn back Jungwon is sitting on your bad, a chopper plushie on his hands. “Okay, hands off that.” You lean towards him to take the plushie off his hands but he moves it higher, a smirk still on his face. “I know this thing! It’s Grogu or something.” “It’s Chopper, now give it back!” You get on your bed, arms trying their best to reach out for it.

When you finally get it, Jungwon is under you, that annoying smirk gone from his lips, instead he’s just looking at you likes he’s done many times. For a second you think about using Chopper to strangle him. At least that is until his hands go to your sides, keeping you firm on his thighs.

“I… I thought you wanted to talk to me?” From this position you can clearly see how long his lashes are, and you’re close enough to notice a mole on his chin, and even though you don’t want to admit it, you can feel the way his chest goes up and down. “We can talk like this,”

You freeze when his fingers gently touch your thighs. He sits up with you still on his lap, now he’s even closer, and your hands only grip on the plushie even harder, if it weren’t for chopper you’d be chest to chest. “And in my head we weren’t going to talk that much anyway..”

One of his hands, thankfully, leaves your hip, only to catch your chin instead. When he gets closer, your instinct is to hit him with your forehead, hurting both of you at the same time. “Fuck, sorry. Oh god, i panicked.” He lays back down and finally you can move off his lap, you sit close to him, your hand on his head. He whines in pain before laughing it off.

Your cheeks must be red by now, and you can feel your ears getting hotter. This is the most embarrassed you’ve ever been. You lie down next to him, hiding your face on Chopper while he silently chuckles. “Do you want me to try again or was that supposed to be a rejection?” You take the plushie off your face, regretting it immediately when you realize how close he is. His nose almost brushing yours.

You dont know what to say, or think. You’ve never shared a bed with a guy, let alone a guy as confident as Jungwon when it comes to… things like these. Still, you let him take the plushie off your hands, touch your jaw, your waist. You let him get so close you fear the sound of your heartbeat might scare him off. But then you put your hand on his chest, and apparently he’s not doing much better.

The second you nod, his lips are on yours. It’s not a peck like the one in the woods, not at all. He’s sweet, but moves with precision, he guides you into it until you relax and his body moves on top of yours. At some point you stop overthinking, your hands find his hair and his settle on your thighs. “I’m not good with words.” “Then don’t speak.” You bite his bottom lip, bringing him closer once again.

He pulls out for another second, your eyes are closed, your back shivers when he kisses your neck. “Do you want this to be serious?” That’s enough to stop all of your nice thoughts. “What do you mean?” You look at him now, he bites his swollen lips, he looks so disheveled already, it’s almost unbelievable to think that you did that.

“Like… boyfriend and girlfriend kind of serious, I- I’m still trying to figure some stuff out and you know, the team is my first priority and..” Honestly, a relationship is the last thing on your mind right now, but being kissed by Yang Jungwon must be the highest point of your life, you want to keep doing this, but labels scare you. And being his girlfriend would bring so much unwanted attention to you. You loved being his friend in private, so this could work, maybe.

“No. We don’t have to be serious.”

KICK IT ! chapter eleven

Not many things can scare you, it’s mostly just the dark, things that could eventually spawn in the dark and a simple “i want to talk to you.” Which might be the worst one, actually. It’s scary because it’s bound to happen.

You weren’t really trying to ignore Jungwon all day, you were… busy. Swimming with Yunjin and Yunah, you made sandwiches for everyone with Sunoo, tidied everything up with Sunghoon and Jay. There just wasn’t much time to talk, really.

And now you’re sitting around the campfire, you between Sunoo and Yunah, Jungwon right in front of you, the fire making it hard for you to see him, but he’s there. Chatting with a couple of girls, you recognize one of them as the girl from the beach, but he doesn’t seem to be having fun, his eyes are on the ground.

You didn’t drink at all, maybe too anxious to do that or probably not in the mood, so while everyone is already half drunk and playing games you find yourself kind of…bored. Your hair is still wet from the latest swim, and as more people get up to either play or who knows what, you just get closer to the fire, yearning for some warmth.

“Boo!” Two strong hands fall on your shoulders, and if it weren’t for that you would’ve probably fallen in the fire. You glance at the person holding you, Jungwon smiling like a maniac. He doesnt smell like alcohol, you saw him drink during the day but he probably stopped before dinner. “I almost became i double chicken bbq.”

He laughs, loud enough for some people to turn around. Actually, too loud. “Are you okay?” You almost whisper, you’re still close enough. Jungwon looks around before whispering in your ear. “It’s Mina, she won’t leave me alone no matter what i say!” You already heard that name, was it at the club? You also look around and when your eyes fall on a girl who’s staring down at you, you immediately understand what he means.

It’s the same girl that pushed you at the club, the same he kissed at the beach. “Well… if it isn’t the consequences of your actions.” You get up, making him hold your hand. Weirdly enough, you’re not scared of a staring contest, so when the girl, Mina, doesn’t stop, you just glare at her.

You’ve always been a girl’s girl, at least you think. Fighting for the attention of a man is cheap and not classy at all, maybe that’s why you’ve never been a relationship, no one is worth a fight, and you give up way too easily. That said, you know Jungwon can’t really stand up for himself in these situations, so you just walk him out of there.

“I swear, i’m trying to stand my ground, it’s harder to do it with girls who are so..confident.” You just hum in agreement, Mina is a gorgeous girl, no wonder she’d be full of herself, and even though you’ve never really talked to her, that stare was intimidating enough. So that’s the kind of girls Jungwon attracts. No wonder they break up with him first.

Your feet on the leaves is the only sound for a while, until the music from the campfire is no longer loud and the laughs and chatter is only a distant sound. You only realize you’re still holding hands when he grips harder on yours. You try to leave but he doesn’t let you. “Why not date her, though?”

When you ask that, Jungwon furrows his brows. “I mean, she’s pretty and someone confident would teach you a lot.” “You also taught me a lot.” You bite your inner cheek at that, he shouldn’t say stuff like that so easily. “But she’s prettier.” He scoffs and rolls his eyes at your before taking a step closer.

“You think that’s what i care about?” You finally manage to free your hand from his grip. “C’mon, you only ever dated gorgeous girls, you wouldn’t even talk to me a couple of months ago.” “I’ve changed.” You didnt even realize you were stepping back so much until your back hits a tree, you gulp when he comes closer.

“And that’s different, i wouldn’t talk to you because you didnt want to be talked to. You kept hiding in corners and hope no one would notice you, what was i supposed to do?” Now he’s too close, closer than you were in the car, so close you fear he might hear your heartbeat. You just look at him, so confused by his words.

You’re about to speak but this time its him who takes a step back. He runs a hand through his hair, bites his lips before turning around, you can only see his broad back now. It takes you a few seconds to stop your heart from beating so hard. And even then, you can only think about so much. He was close and then he wasn’t, and now you’re missing that.

As if under a spell, your body moves on its own, your hands find his arm, making him face you once again. Words die on your lips, you look at him as if you want to say a thousand things but you just can’t, instead your eyes fall on his, before going down to his mouth. You take a deep breath, feet on your tippy toes, and your hands find his jaw, not for long. Just for a few seconds, enough time to leave a peck on his lips.

It lasts even less than you’d thought, but when your eyes open again he’s just staring at your with an expression you can’t quite read. Is he mad? Or maybe he’s just processing it, maybe he’s finding it ridiculous, such a short touch for someone like him. His hands are near you, just like in the car, he doesn’t know what to do with them. Maybe he just finds you disgusting and you ruined his night or…

And then his hand finally falls on your waist, you don’t dare look up at his face or even down at his hands, you didn’t think this through. You feel him move, his nose tracing your forehead, then going down to your cheek, where he leaves a kiss on the corner of your mouth.

“You mean a lot to me, you know?”

KICK IT ! chapter ten

You never thought you’d find yourself getting a bag of fries and picking up a man from a party. Especially since that man is Yang Jungwon himself. He made you drive away from the party, and he did not stop talking for a second, he talked about the match, how he had much more fun than he had in a while, then he told you how he’s doing his best in rejecting people he doesn’t like, and lastly he stuffed his mouth with fries.

You’re now in a very empty parking lot, your head on the wheel as you watch him eat. “You’re like a damn baby.” “And you drive like shit.” He hands you the fries, which you actually take with pleasure, you forgot to buy something to eat yourself. Jungwon leans his back on the seat, his whole body turned towards you.

Jungwon is wearing a headband today, you only see him with that during important matches, he probably forgot to take it off. You also noticed the stain of lipstick on his neck, it makes you glad you weren’t there to witness it. “What happened? It seems like you were having fun.” He touches his neck, right where you were looking. He tries to take the stain off but nothing happens, you roll your eyes.

“I was trying to,” You lean towards the passenger seat, knowing you keep a pack of wipes under there. “I kept getting mad about someone not being there.” He hits your forehead with a flick. All while you take a wipe from the pack. “I like to preserve my energy.” He leans into your touch when you clean up that mess of a lipstick, his eyes on yours, he’s too close. Or maybe you’re too close. You can see his hand twitching, as if he’s thinking whether or not he should touch you. Grab your waist and… no, it doesn’t matter because he doesn’t do any of that.

“Have you ever liked someone, yn?” And there he goes again, that whole figuring out ‘how to like someone’ stuff. You sigh when you come back to your seat, body also turned towards him this time. “Of course I have, I’m not incapable of loving, you know.” “But you’ve never dated.”

“You don’t always have the luck to date people you like.” By the look on his face you can tell how weird of a concept that is for him. Of course, he’s so used to being liked and dating, without even liking back. He opens his mouth, but bites his lips before he can actually say something. You can almost see the gears in his brain turning.

“I’ve never seen you kiss anyone either.” “I’ve kissed before, Jungwon.” His lips form an O shape, nodding his head. He’s trying so hard to not look at you now, his ears becoming red. “And what about… you know? The other stuff.” You laugh at him, you’ve never seen him so embarrassed, and to say he is the one who’s more open between the two of you.

“Does it matter? I have more experience than you give me credit for.” His eyes go on you almost immediately. So suddenly you feel your heart drop. “Really? With who?” “I didn’t say I did it..” This time you can feel your cheeks become red, not as red as his ears before but still enough for the both of you to notice. You clear your throat. He’s still staring at you, but then he runs a hand through his hair, Jungwon sits back normally before biting his lips again.

“You’re making things very hard for me.”

KICK IT ! chapter nine

Jake has been playing soccer his whole life, and because of that you’ve seen plenty of games. Even if the rules aren’t quite clear to you, you can tell who’s a good player and who isn’t. For example, watching from the stands right now, you can say with full confidence that Riki is a monster player while Jungwon, who you’ve seen play as much as your brother, fucking sucks today.

Your arms are resting on the metal railing, there’s only two days left before the actual match, and you’re forced to go to their practice only because Jake’s car is basically dead. You sigh, now letting your forehead rest on the metal instead, you scroll on tiktok, watch some instagram stories, nothing is interesting.

Not much later practice is called off and you wait for Jake and friends to come up here. Its been three days since friday, and you still haven’t found the courage to talk to Jungwon, or look at him in the eyes. When Riki, Jay and Jake come sit down with you, you understand the energy is not it.

“Do you think you could talk to him?” You dont raise your head at that, pretty sure they’re talking to each other, but when silence comes and you actually look at your brother, they’re all waiting for you to answer. “Mh? Me? Why?” You dont need to ask who, you already noticed Jungwon’s mood yesterday. “Because he won’t listen to us, so you might as well try.”

Why you agreed is a concept that is foreign to you too. But now you find yourself inside the locker room, no one else inside, the only sound coming is from a few lockers away, you can’t really see him but you can hear the nervous tapping of his foot on the floor. “Jungwon?”

The tapping stops, you don’t move, you don’t even know if he’s wearing clothes. The boys basically pushed you inside the room without thinking too much about the consequences. “What are you doing here?” “Well, i was kinda forced.” You take a step forward but regret it immediately, so instead you decide to stay hidden behind the lockers, you sit down on a bench.

You can’t believe your own brother locked you inside the room with another man, and there you thought he was a protective older brother. “Are you okay?” You both ask that at the same time. You wait for him to answer, but when he doesn’t you understand that its your turn to break the ice.

“I don’t remember much, honestly. Sorry if i was weird on friday.” You hear the muffling sound of clothes going on the floor, or maybe a towel? You just hope he’s getting dressed. “It’s fine, you were drunk.” If anything that only makes your anxieties worsen, you’re glad you can’t see him right now.

“Can you tell me what’s going on with you?” Silence again, sounds of his head resting on the locker on his side. You’ve never been good at comforting people, especially when you don’t know what the problem is in the first place. “You know, Jungwon. I’m very jealous of you..”

“Yn, please. I don’t need your bullshit right now.” His voice has gotten colder, deeper, even. You didn’t even think his honey voice could get so cold. You feel your heart tremble at his words, he always knows how to hurt you. “I haven’t scored a single goal all season. I’m supposed to be the Captain but i’m just holding back my team.” He stops talking and judging by his breathing you can only assume he’s fighting back some tears.

You feel conflicted, Jungwon is the same guy that hurt you so many times, no matter what he said he always had a rotten word for you. And yet here you are, debating if you should wipe the tears off his face or not. You wait for him to talk or ask you to come closer, knowing him he probably wont do it, but you wait nonetheless. After a few minutes you hear him sniffle, and a smile spreads on your lips. So even Jungwon knows how to be gross, then.

“Is that why you hate me? Because you’re jealous of me?” “I don’t hate you.” He sniffles again before coughing a laugh, then silence again. “I thought you’d be jealous of the girls that get with me.” He’s trying to tease you, his voice is still nasal and yet he’s trying to tease you. “What else is bothering you, Jungwon?” “I don’t want to play this game.” You get up from the bench, not knowing what’s gotten to you.

But then his eyes meet yours, big and dark, now shining because of tears. You lean on the locker to look down at him, you’ve never seen him so lost. “Hi.” Jungwon just looks up for a few seconds, his eyes go on your cheeks, that you know for a fact have gotten pinkier because of all the time you spent under the sun, then on your hands on the locker, then your own eyes.

You sit down next to him, you look around, mostly too embarrassed to look at him in the eyes, but you’ve also never been in the locker rooms. It’s not that good of a place, though. “I won’t force you to talk to me. But your team cares for you, so talk to them if that is the problem.” “Why won’t you look at me?”

You look down at your own feet, you can feel him staring. Instead of the usual sassy remark you can only feel the beating of your heart going faster, just like that time at the club, you forget how to breathe until you see him. And then your brain manages to work once more. “Your face pisses me off.” He laughs. Jungwon laughs hard enough that his forehead goes to rest on your shoulder, your body becoming rigid.

This shouldn’t be happening.

KICK IT ! chapter eight

You feel your best with a cup full of alcohol in your hands. You’ve always felt a little anxious, paranoid even. Lurking around, observing, making sure no one is looking at you, judging you. That feeling stops when your brain gets all smushed up and melted by the liquid. And suddenly nothing matters, you’re giggling like a maniac holding onto sunoo’s shirt, all while he and sunghoon are taking another shot.

You feel someone holding your wrist, Yunjin taking you to the dance floor with Yunah behind you. You don’t remember last time you had so much fun, and it’s very likely you won’t remember this time either. When your vision gets less blurry and the sounds start making sense you realize you need another drink.

Still, you don’t want to get lost so you decide you can wait, just a couple more songs then you’ll be able to drink just a bit more. Cold hands catch your waist, and this time you know for a fact that they’re not Yunjin’s. You turn around and much to your surprise Riki is behind you, smile on his lips and a colorful drinks in his hands. He gets closer to you ear, just enough so you can hear him.

“I thought I could only see you on minecraft this week?” The music is loud, and added with the brain fog you’re currently experiencing his words come in as a muffled sound. “You’re here alone?” He shakes his head and moves his chin to indicate where his friends are. Jay, Yunjin and Yunah are already chatting. Your Brother is not too far, dancing with the same girl he brought home a few weeks ago, and Jungwon… you don’t know where Jungwon is.

Maybe it’s because your vision is quite blurry, but even when you move around to look for him you don’t seem to find him. You had hoped to see him, to say sorry at least since the last time you two met you called him a whore, just for that. “Looking for someone?” It’s your turn to shake your head. “I’ll get you a drink, stay here!”

When Riki turn around you decide to join in Yunjin’s and Jay’s conversation. Yunah went off to say hi to some friends. You’re not really listening, just looking around, doing the same time you promised yourself you wouldn’t do tonight. And suddenly the music is too loud, you’re sweaty and people push you to walk by, there’s not enough space to breathe and.. And he’s there.

Not too far from you all, he’s talking to some people but his eyes land on you for a few seconds. The red light of the club is making his features shine, Jungwon looks nice tonight. You realize you’re staring when someone pushes you too hard and makes you stumble into your friend.

You give a glance at the person who did it, the group of well dressed girls struggling into the crowd to get near Jungwon. He’s no longer looking at you. Was he not looking at you this whole time? “Fucking bitch, she didn’t even say sorry.” You stop Yunjin from breaking a fight, the last thing you want is to be kicked out of the club for a stupid push. “It’s fine, let’s catch up with Sun.”

The rest of the night goes smoothly, almost too smooth. Riki came back with a drink for you, then you had a few too many shots, you danced, forgot how to think again, and then the night is almost over. Sunoo and Sunghoon go first, and the girls actually fight for you to come back home with them, but Jake is almost done so you decide to wait for him.

So here you are, phone in your hands, retweeting and liking without too much care, your back is against a wall, has to be or you’d just stumble over and over again with how drunk you are. “Where’s Riki?” You have to blink a couple of times for your eyes to focus. Jungwon is in front of you, hands in his pockets. “Home.” You mumble, head resting on the wall behind you so you can look up at him, phone long forgotten.

“Without you?” A giggle escapes your lips, so this is what he thinks? You found a great friend in Riki, you wouldn’t want to put a hand on him even so drunk. “I don’t like him like that.” Jungwon looks up and down at you, and for a second you wonder why he isnt with a new girl, every other night he would already be in his car, or bed. And totally not alone.

“Did you get hurt?” “Mh? When i fell from heaven?” Jungwon laughs before getting closer. “No, you idiot. When Mina pushed you.” “Oh, no, no i’m fine.” You laugh with him, giggling drunkenly until your cheeks become red. When he stops your eyes fall on him you’re glad your cheeks are already red. Has he ever looked at you this way? He becomes serious for a moments, as if debating if he should come closer or not. Eventually he takes just a little step. You’re too far.

“Go on, give me a compliment.” Next time you decide to drink so much, you should tell your friends to knot your tongue. You’re never so confident, but your dress tonight is hot, and as much as your heels hurt you feel great, your hair might be messy right now but you still feel as pretty as when you left your house. Jungwon doesn’t get closer, for some reason you want him to. He’s still looking at you, his silence almost making you regret your words. “You look like you want to give me a compliment.”

“You’re drunk, yn.” Your hand reaches him before you can think, your back no longer against the wall as he becomes your pillar, you stumble a bit, adjusting to the new position, but your hand doesnt move from his hip, where you’re holding on his shirt for dear life. “That’s not what i asked.” He’s not holding you back, but his eyes are still on you, and you’re looking up at him with those drunken eyes of yours. “You know you’re pretty, you don’t need me to tell you.”

“Sometimes I do.”

KICK IT ! chapter seven

You’ve never really been afraid of missing out, if anything you would’ve had the opposite. Still, you’re a bit disappointed about being kicked out of the house right when the guys had a cozy afternoon planned. Not that it matters now.

Reading A Song of Ice and Fire at the library when no one else is here is also a great way to spend your day. Except you can’t focus, at all. You thought it’d be good for you to read something that isnt a manga once in a while, and you basically watched the whole eight seasons plus the two spin off series in less than a month, this should be fun for you!

Instead you’re stuck looking at a page, leg bouncing under the table while you bite your nails. You don’t even know what’s been troubling you lately. You go back to the start of the chapter since you read through four pages without understanding a thing, and right when you’re about to finally focus, someone sits right in front of you.

It wouldn’t be weird during exam season, but that’s long ended, and the library is completely empty except for you and a couple other people. Still, plenty of tables. When you raise your head to see who it is, you’re faced with a huge smile and deep dimples.

“You can read?” Jungwon’s smile fades at your comment, he sits down, and you notice just how full of books his bag is. And.. is he wearing specs? You’ve never seen him wear them. “An ‘Hi’ would’ve been enough.” Your brain is short circuiting, Jungwon is here, in a library, right in front of you. Shouldn’t he be on a date?

“What are you doing here?” It’s becoming hard to whisper, the last thing you want is to be kicked out of here too. “Studying.” You watch as he takes out a thick book and a pen. Maybe he’s in a bad mood, because you open your mouth to speak again he just glances at you through his specs.

Okay fine, you won’t talk to him, you don’t have anything to say anyway. So you look down on your book again, feeling incredibly stupid for some reasons. You knew Jungwon was doing great in school, Jake told you that once or twice, you just didnt think he’d be so serious about it. And here you are instead, not even being able to focus on a book you’re supposed to like.

Suddenly you remember about the other day, him being surrounded by friends, kissing that girl. Ugh, how does he manage to do all of that? He’s captain of the soccer team, he has amazing grades and his social life is to envy. Maybe you are a bit jealous. You can’t keep up with the few friends that you have, your grades are enough to make it and the word social doesn’t even exist in your life.

Your leg begins to bounce faster, focus, focus, why can’t you focus? You take a quick look at him. He’s wearing a black shirt, pen between his lips as he focuses and your eyes fall on his biceps, of course they do. Yeah, you can’t keep quiet.

“You didn’t say hi.” “Mh? When?” He’s not even looking at you, so you decide to focus on your bookmark instead, playing with it. “At the beach.” “Ah.” Don’t look, don’t look, he’s only going to piss you off. “I mean, it’s not like we’re close. You’re just Jake’s sister.”

Oh, right. You’ve been that your whole life, why would it change now? Your hand grips a little tighter on the seat. “And besides that, you were with Riki.” He lets his pen rest on the book, both of his elbows on the table. You look up just for a second, enough to regret it immediately. “He’s nice. I had fun.”

You understand why so many people fall on Jungwon’s feet. He’s not only handsome, he’s charismatic and he probably treats people better than he treats you. “I also had fun.” The conversation is awkward now, or maybe its just you who sucks at small talks. “So are you… you and that girl? Like, dating or something.”

Jungwon chuckles, and now you feel even dumber. “You think people start dating after just a little kiss?” If that was ‘little’ you dont want to know what the standard is for him. “You act like you know so much, Jungwon. Some people just aren’t whores like you.” It’s insane how easily he manages to piss you off, you run a hand through your hair but before you can speak again he cuts you off.

“It’s you who’s frigid for no fucking reason.” You don’t really have a reply for that, so instead you just go back to ‘reading’ your book, silence coming back between the two of you. It lasts a bit too long, until he takes his glasses off by basically throwing them on the table and startling you. He massages his temples, eyes closed. “I didnt mean to offend you. You’re a nice girl, i just have a lot going on lately.”

“It’s fine. Me too.”

KICK IT ! chapter six

As much as you love your friends, you hate the situations they put you in. When you asked Jake and he told you he wasn’t coming to the beach, you thought you were safe. It’d be hard for Jungwon to hang out without Jake. Hard, but not impossible. You forgot about Jay, probably the nicest guy on the team, but also Jungwon’s babysitter.

Seeing him there you thought he’d come up to you and mess with you like he’s been doing the past few weeks, but Jungwon didn’t even seem to notice you today. Which shouldn’t be weird, before that party you barely spoke to each other anyway, but seeing him come back to his usual self was a bit disappointing.

You curse yourself for only bringing two volumes of the manga you’re currently reading, so now you’re forced to interact with other human beings. Except that Yunah is nowhere to be seen, probably making new friends somewhere else, and Yunjin is a bit far from you, talking with Jay. Right, they used to be in a band in middle school, it didnt last long, though.

“Beer?” You raise your head, Riki is smiling down at you, beer in his hand. Or hands, since he’s holding two. “Oh, sure. Wanna sit down?” You scoot over a little, just to make space on the towel for the giant. You found out that Riki is way nicer than you thought, smarter for sure. You asked him to sit down but its not like you really have something to say to him, so instead you keep quiet, looking around.

It’s beginning to get hard to see, the sun set a while ago now, the beach being lit by the moon and the bar blasting music. Still, you notice Jungwon near the shore, talking with a girl that’s been on his side ever since he arrived. Everything is back to normal it seems.

“What do you think of him?” You raise your brows at Riki’s sudden question, “Of Jungwon, I mean.” Yeah, you figured as much, still doesn’t makes sense why he’d ask about Jungwon. “I think he’s annoying. And he’s mean at times, and also doesn’t know what personal space is,” As you say that, you can see Jungwon’s hand going on the girl’s waist. “Why do you ask?”

When you turn around to see Riki, he’s already looking at you, you take a quick glance at his tattoos, but dont really pay much attention to them. He shrugs. “Just curious.” And after that silence comes again. You drink your beer, trying your best to not look at the shore, the last thing you want is seeing Jungwon make out with a girl. So you keep your head down, watching the sand cover your feet.

“And you, what do you think of him?” Riki laughs when you ask that, he gets close enough that your shoulders are now touching. You don’t want to look at him, you know he’s looking at you already.

“I think he’s really, really stupid.”

KICK IT ! chapter five

There’s something really relaxing about being in your car, aircon on, watching the last episode of One Piece while you wait for your stinky brother to finish practice. The first ten minutes feel like heaven, no one is talking, your notifications are off and if you look out of the window you can see a clear sky and… Jungwon brushing the sweat off his face with his shirt.

Wait. What?

You take another quick look, just to make sure. He’s sweaty, hair sticking to his forehead, and by the way he’s holding up his shirt you can totally see the chiseled line of his abs. You try to hide, but it’s too late. Jungwon is knocking on your window, the biggest smile on his face. The asshole saw you staring.

You shake your head quickly, but he keeps knocking and when he tries to open the door, it actually opens. You forgot to lock yourself in. Jungwon leans on the door, one hand over the roof of the car.

“So you’re also a human capable of lust?” “Lust?!” Your voice gets maybe a bit too high, and when you try to get up you accidentally hit the roof. “Gosh, you’re so obsessed with me, yn.”

“You wish. if anything, its you who’s been obsessed with me lately.” Jungwon rolls his eyes before looking around, both of his hands still on the roof, from this position, all you can really see is his chest. Which is much better than his punchable face, honestly.

“Yo. What’s with y’all and my sister lately?” Thankfully Jake is here. Your brother enters on the passenger side as soon as he reaches the car, but Jungwon still doesn’t move. He’s way too comfortable. “You guys are going somewhere?” “Why do you care?” You’re fast to answer, you’re debating if you should just start the car and run him over, In the meantime, you see the other weird guy from the other day approaching the car.

“We’re going to the mall,” Next time Jake should just walk home and pretend its part of practice. “That’s great! Because Riki and I also wanted to go!” “Riki?” Oh right, that was his name. The blond guy reaches the car, he was probably just going to say bye, but instead he furrows his brows. “Did I tell you that?” “Yes!” Jungwon finally takes a step away, you didnt realize how close he was until you’re finally able to breathe again.

“Get in the car, Yn is taking us shopping!”
