thinking about martys relationship with his father and the doc. about how the george marty grew up with was terrified of rejection and never put himself or his work out there for fear of contempt and criticism. about how doc is always and forever fearless in his pursuits, throwing every little thing at the wall to see what sticks because he knows the one little thing that does is going to make it all worth it, even if everyone around him thinks hes a quack. about how marty will do anything to prove hes not chicken, not like his father, but has to be goaded into doing so, never taking the first step himself, exactly like his father. about how marty and doc, so starkly contrasted at first glance in all ways, share the same desire to be known and seen, to create something new and shiny, the likes of which have never been seen or heard before.

Marty Mcfly is the best protagonist because he’s simultaneously so awkward and so cool. He says insane ominous things to strangers. He has the goofiest run I’ve ever seen. He plays loud music no one gets. All the women are in love with him. All the men are impressed with him or threatened by him. The children look at him like he’s the coolest person in the world. His name is Marty Mcfly. That’s such a sick name.

Ok, how come I’ve seen this movie a million times and I’m only NOW just realising this is Michael J Fox?!
