The busy city streets were not a place to find what the sparrow was looking for. She was but a baby bird bustling and bumping into vendors and travelers alike. There was no need to rush, but she felt as if there was a time limit. Taliyah knew she wouldn’t be able to see Azir in the public eye, unless there was a meeting that included all of the city, and she knew she would not be able to ever greet him in private chambers.
Thus began the search for the emperor’s minions. One in particular…
He was large, quiet, and rather grumpy from what the girl remembered. A secluded place with no people around might have been a better chance to find him. Or, perhaps he was in the palace with the emperor… Discussing plans to ruin and sacrifice her people to the sands and sun. Shivering at the thought, Taliyah could not think so horribly. It would just make her more worried about the situation at hand.
The weaver trudged on, deciding to no longer think with that attitude. Following paths within the walls and slowly but surely making it to more secluded areas. She began to notice the decline in people. Soon enough it was just her in the tight fit walls… and stairs leading downwards. She had a feeling… something was calling her there.
And so, the young girl turned her head and stepped slowly. Descending further and further downwards until she was greeted by large doors and a light burning on a stick. Gulping, she placed both hands upon the stone and heaved a breath.
Taliyah pushed the large door open, stepping inside on sand-kissed marble stone. There… there was the person she was looking for. How lucky, she thought. This place did seem like the man would enjoy. Dreary and dark… yes. Very much him.
“ Just who I was looking for. “ She called out happily, closing the door from behind and trotting close but not too close to the ascended. Briefly, they had met. However the circumstances at the time made it difficult to really get acquainted. The jackal had knowledge and the girl had questions– many, many questions.
“ I need a favor from you, Nasus. “
Ah, the child of the sands who saved the survivors of Vekaura. Nasus himself would have been trapped beneath tons of rock and rubble if not for her intervention. She acted much more heroically than the curator in the face of Xerath’s onslaught. Inspired by her while ashamed of his own reluctance, Nasus withheld great respect for the sparrow. Placing his utensils aside, the Ascended turned to face his guest.
“Taliyah. It is good to see you well... I did not have an opportunity to properly thank you for your acts of selflessness.”
Rising from his seat, the jackal stood full, his ancient armor and figure no longer covered in crude shawls and wrappings. So the little bird had a request, did she? It must be of great importance for her to journey so far simply to ask. Giving his full attention, Nasus spoke in an amicable tone.
“--And what might this favor be, young one? I shall provide any aid within reason. It is the least I can do to repay you.”
She may have come to ask a single favor, but once addressed her curiosity was bound to make more trivial inquiries. However, they were not under siege by Xerath’s magics this time, so yes, perhaps the scholar would entertain the girl with some answers.
