redarsehole:
Roy was constantly terrified when holding Lian. She was just, very small. Roy sometimes had problems believing that this was his life now, but was somewhat happy for the quiet of a domestic, suburban life. It was easy. Lian got comfortable in his arms, and Roy leaned against the counter.
“Do you have to go back to…work anytime soon?” Roy said, as if Jade worked a secretary job. Roy wasn’t very excited to go back to vigilantism, but he was worried that Jade was going to bounce suddenly in a few days.
Jade grabbed a fork and the takeout container, trying not to laugh at the briefly terrified look on Roy’s face. She idly wondered how long he would look that way, or whether it would last until Lian was all grown up.
She stilled at the question, putting the food back down. “Roy,” she said slowly. “I dropped you into a Lazarus pit that I was not supposed to know existed. Do you really think the League is happy about that?” She had covered her tracks as well as she knew how, but it was only a matter of time before they realized what she had done. “I’m sure I have already been branded a traitor.”
