Twisted Temple

Two Temple Place is the brainchild of the famous architect, John Loughborough Pearson. Designed in the 1890's for the then richest man in the world, William Waldorf Astor who commissioned the architect to design his private estate office. The great oak staircase comprises newel posts adorning mahogany carved figures depicting characters from William Waldorf Astor's favourite books. Namely, The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnon, Madame Bonacieux, Aramis, Milady de Winter, Bazin, Athos and Porthos. The gallery arcade consists of ten solid ebony columns and inlaid marble floors in Cosmati style as seen in Westminster Abbey. The small maze of rooms is equally as beautiful. As is the great hall. A hidden gem in the middle of London, this masterpiece of Victorian design and craftsmanship is surely worth a visit. Open yearly for @openhouselondon or you can become a "friend of Two Temple Place" and enjoy access three months a year. Exhibitions, tours and events take place in the winter months

The staircase of Heal's, Tottenham Court Road was built in the 1920's. Each glass Orb hanging in the centre cost £7,000 and, on your assent, you will encounter a black ceramic cat. Part of a collection made in the 20's, she never sold and has become the Heal's mascot. Rub her paw and she will bring you luck. I rubbed twice!

The BT Tower! Love it's structure and reflective surface. I'll definitely be visiting this for Open House London next weekend, 16/17th September 😃

Today, I visited Down Street tube station in Central London. It was used by Churchill as a war bunker and was very interesting indeed!

Awoken by the sound of sirens The whoosh of blades Many helicopters overhead As I lay in my comfy bed I could never have known What I was about to be shown The flames of hell Lapping over like a bad spell Heat of a crematorium as well 400 bodies turned to ash Didn't even have a chance to dash! Now it looms Over Ladbroke Grove Like a well overused stove! Black and chard with ash falling It has left the area ballin' PTSD has overtaken me Which is hard for others to see Lies flowing like a river Sends us into a shiver Surrounded by lying scum The time has come For us to put an end To the gentrification Of our small nation

It happened so very fast I've not seen anything like it in the past A building full of screaming people All of them our equal I felt so helpless as I watched A burning building that was botched TMO are a joke As it all went up in smoke The residents of Ladbroke Grove Have pulled together in every drove We come together for humanity All we ask for is some clarity I feel so very sad That we are treated so bad By people up in high places Who never show their faces People want to know why They burnt up in the sky We need the answers today We the residents will ensure you pay!
