hello! ali here with a new boy on the dash, which is a little nerve wracking to me since i've been away from tumblr rp for almost a full year! but, i'd absolutely love to get to know you and all of your muses 💕 i still have some tweaks to make to my blog, but here's a quick? intro post about jaehyo to give you the basics, and perhaps if he interests you at all you can come say hi and we can do some plotting!!
introducing kim jaehyo, a main vocalist of twentytwenty ☆
he was born into a family that constantly struggled with debt. having very little money meant his parents were stressed more often than not, and as he grew he was typically only seen as another mouth to feed. while they weren't abusive, they could certainly be neglectful at times - emotionally and physically.
as much as he tried to make them love him, nothing ever seemed to work. his singing talent was his pride, but it was often only met with mockery since it wasn't considered 'useful'. whenever asked about his family, he typically responds with a forced smile and brushes the topic off the best he can.
he's never really forgiven them and probably never will. when his parents realised they could use his fame for their own gain, they started bragging openly that he was their son, talking about how hard it was to raise him coming from such a humble background - how much they still struggle, even now. how they wished he'd talk to them more. after everything they’d done to raise him.
in exchange for their silence, he sends them a portion of his wages monthly. this aggravates him constantly, and even though he hasn't seen them in years, they still feel like a heavy weight on his shoulders he has yet to shift.
he specifically chose to use his own name instead of a stage name because he wanted the people in his past who said he couldn't achieve anything with his talents to know exactly who he was when they saw him on their screens.
he doesn't particularly care about being the most popular as long as he succeeds, and continues to improve as an artist.
he can come across as either very shy, or very cold, depending on how you look at it. he makes an effort to talk more and brighten up when cameras are on him but beyond that he tends to keep to himself. he values his alone time, which is a rarity when you're a member of such a large group.
he's fuelled by pettiness, and has a surprisingly large competitive streak. turn something into a competition, and it's like a switch has been flipped in his mind. voted most likely to betray his members for a packet of instant ramen, probably.
while jaehyo is a pretty good all-rounder, he's comically terrible at rapping. he'd like to improve, but he's honestly kind of embarrassed by how awkward he sounds whenever he tries. people say it's charming, in a laughable way.
he says his ideal partner is the 'girl next door' type, but in reality, he's not all that sure who he likes, or if it's even limited to just girls?? he doesn't have a lot of dating experience forreal and for the sake of convenience he's been forcing himself to not think about that stuff too much, but alas...
his hobbies include a lot of crafty things, like sewing or knitting. huge grandma energy. he customises a lot of his personal clothing with his own small designs. as a token of friendship, he's been known to give small things he's made as gifts.
the animal he's associated most with is a hedgehog. prickly to some, soft and adorable to others.

anything and everything with other twentytwenty bbs of course. specifically perhaps someone who was his first real friend after becoming a trainee, who he feels totally, 100% comfortable around. boy was quiet as a ghost when he first arrived and too shy to stick around much outside of practice. they probably had to pspspsps and lure him closer with some snacks or sumn. an outgoing type to match his stoicness. a sun to his moon.
a friend outside of twentytwenty! maybe they were friends before their debut, or got closer after being introduced at some kind of show. they don't get to hang out much but the bond is still strong.
someone who just straight up doesn't like him? maybe they think he's rude, or someone unfamiliar who comes across as cocky and too confident rubs jaehyo the wrong way somehow.
flirtationship??? secret crushes??? one sided or not this one rly gets me, what i would give for a crumb of this content.
