Dylan shrugged and closed the door behind Jaime, locking it shut. He lead the way into the kitchen, suddenly in the mood for hot chocolate. “Hey, I’m gonna make some hot chocolate, Jai, you want some?" Dylan got out a pot, some milk, and the hot chocolate mix, looking for but not finding the marshmallows. “I think you’ll be missing out." He winked at Jaime and grinned widely as he turned the eye on the stove on and poured some milk and hot chocolate mix into the pot.

"Dylan Saunder's famous hot chocolate? Why I'd be an idiot to turn that down," Jaime laughed, following Dylan into the kitchen and pulling up a chair to sit in to watch him make it. "While I'm asking for things, this is me requesting permission to go through your DVD collection to find a movie for us to watch."

Jaime rolled her eyes and waved Dylan’s concern off. “I used to live with Lauren, Dyl, really, I can handle a little mess. Besides, I’m sure it’s not nearly as bad as you think it is." She started up the steps, pausing halfway up and turning to him. “Coming?"

Dylan followed Jaime quickly and unlocked his door, opening it for her. “Well, that’s true, Lauren is very messy sometimes." He chuckled and looked in the house. “And I guess the house isn’t that bad."

"See, you worried for nothing," Jaime laughed, poking Dylan's side. "So, what do you wanna do? What do you usually do when you hang around here?"

Dylan nodded and got out of the car, hoping that it was just his imagination, but he could never be too sure. “I don’t think it’s cleaned up, so sorry about the mess in advance." He said, somewhat sheepishly, and he stuffed his hands in his pockets. Dylan was a bit embarrassed that Jaime would see how cluttered his house would be.

Dylan shook his head as the feeling went away. “Nothing. It’s gone." He smiled and turned to Jaime. “Just my imagination, Jai, you’ve got nothing to worry about." He placed his hand on her knee and patted it gently before bringing it back to his lap, trying to ignore the strange feelings he was getting in his stomach from her.

"Oh god, don't scare me like that," Jaime said, giggling nervously as she pulled off the highway and into Dylan's neighborhood. "I'm always jumpy these days, it's ridiculous." She pulled into his driveway and parked, smiling. "Inside then?"

Dylan grinned and looked down, still surprised that she had noticed that he had been gone for a while. “I missed you too." He whispered in an almost inaudible voice, and then the hairs on the back of his neck stood up. Dylan looked out his window and then turned towards Jaime, looking out her window as well. “Something feels wrong."

Jaime's grip on the steering wheel tightened. "What do you mean, something feels wrong?" she asked, starting to get nervous.

Dylan smiled at her comforting touch and nodded. “Yeah, you can come over. Besides, I do miss human company. Haven’t talked to another person for several months and then I got back, and you’re the second one I’ve talked to." He chuckled and sat back in Jaime’s car, hoping he didn’t sound depraved or anything.

"I'm glad you're back, Dylan. Really, I am. I know I was short with you earlier....but I missed you a lot." Jaime started her car and quickly pulled out onto the road, ready to get to Dylan's and away from the creepy vibes she was still feeling.

Dylan hesitated slightly, but he eventually took her outstretched hand and he followed her to her car. “I probably should’ve brought my car too, but I ended up walking." He shrugged and smiled at Jaime. “You don’t have to come to my house if you don’t want to, you can just drop me off at home if you want."

Jaime gave Dylan's hand a soft squeeze, hoping the gesture was comforting. "Well if you don't want me to stay, I can go home, but honestly, I wouldn't mind not being alone right now...it's up to you, Dyl," she said, releasing his hand and reaching for her car keys to unlock the doors.

Dylan shrugged and bit his lip nervously, stuffing his hands in his pockets. “Um, we could go back to my place?" As soon as he said it, he regretted it slightly, not sure if she would get any ideas, but he hoped she wouldn’t.

Jaime's overwhelming desire to get out of the forest allowed her to pass by any undertones to Dylan's suggestion. She nodded eagerly, offering her hand to his for the walk to her car.

Dylan felt more relaxed and he let Jaime hold him as his mind raced faster with his thoughts. He had been so sure that Jaime would have forgotten about him as everyone else had seemed to, but when she had decided to come, he had gotten his hopes up just a bit more. First Britney, and now Jaime. He was surprised that there were StarKids that hadn’t forgotten about him, but he didn’t know who else had remembered that he had been gone for months on end. “Thank you for being a good friend Jaime."

"That's what I'm here for," Jaime said, smiling softly. She kissed Dylan's cheek and dropped her hand, leaning casually back against the tree. "So now what?" she asked, glancing around the forest.

"Why do we have to leave?" Dylan looked at Jaime with slightly sad eyes, and he then moved his eyes to look at the ground. “I like it here." He looked into Jaime’s eyes again and placed his hand onto the hand that was resting on his face.

The forest creeped her out a bit, but Dylan seemed calmer now, and she knew that if anything happened, he'd protect the both of them. She hated how useless her power was most of the time, and this wasn't an exception. "Then we'll stay, we can stay," she said quickly. "I just want to make sure you're feeling better."

Dylan pushed away from the tree angrily and turned away from Jaime, hardly able to believe what she was saying. “Weak?" He scoffed and turned back to her, his eyes blazing with rage. “You have NO idea what feeling weak is like." Dylan’s skin was crackling with electricity at this point, and it was visible, making him look like the villain he really wasn’t. “Feeling weak is like having no control over something within you. Like my powers. I couldn’t control them for months. I felt weak." He lowered his voice to a whisper and all of his rage left him, replacing itself with the very feeling of feeling weak. The electric currents on his skin completely disappeared, and he looked down, not wanting to see Jaime’s expression. “I am weak."

Cautiously, Jaime reached out and placed her hand on Dylan's cheek, running her thumb along his cheek bone and raising his head so he was looking at her again. "There's nothing wrong with that. I've learned that now. Being weak, being scared...yeah, it sucks. But it's a part of being human...can we get out of here? Please?"

Dylan almost gave into Jaime when he saw her eyes widen, but he surprisingly kept his poker face. He licked his lips and moved closer so his breath would land on her face. “You have no idea how many times I thought back to that fight. How I wished you didn’t snap at me for just helping you stand up from a bad fall." He growled slightly and moved even closer, the only part of himself touching her was his finger, which was now tracing down her cheek and jaw to her neck. “I don’t even understand why you got so mad at me, but it had to be something, Jaime, and I know you remember why you snapped at me."

"I don't like feeling weak," Jaime told him, suppressing a shiver at the contact. "You made me feel weak, and I resented you for it. I didn't want the help. I wanted to prove to myself that I could handle it. Obviously I was wrong...but that's why I snapped. And I'm sorry."
