Bonnie stepped into the crowded coffee shop and got on the line. After a few minutes of waited she finally placed her order and stepped aside for even more waiting. Once she was handed her drink and a small bag she turned around and scanned the room. Nearly every seat was takenâŠ
"I know this place kinda sucks when it comes to getting your order but when they get it right its amazing." she said, smiling a bit as she sat down beside him. "So other than pissed off at the guy behind the counter how have you been?" she asked as she took a sip of her coffee. She smiled to herself when she noticed that it was the right order although she did have to tell him three times.
Dylan smiled at her as Bonnie talked, and he couldnât help noticing that she looked different, somehow. Happier. He couldnât quite put a finger on it, but he could tell that she was happier than the last time he was here.
"I havenât been too shabby." Dylan finally answered after a slight hesitation, not really sure what he should tell her about his trip. But, he decided it was the better thing to do. "Well, Iâm adjusting back to life here in busy old Chicago after spending a while in Overton, Nebraska and Silverthorne, Montana." He didnât quite know if Silverthorne was the name of the town, but he shrugged and gave Bonnie his usual lopsided grin.
"Just been road tripping. I also hunted a bit too. The things I hunted." Dylan let out a sigh and shook his head, his eyes locking with hers. "And how have you been? Anything happen when I was gone?"
"All that is making me miss my road tripping days to be honest. Hunting? That sounds like fun." She sighed "Not much has been going on to be honest. Itâs been pretty boring since I moved back." Bonnie brushed a reckless hair out of her face and combed it back into place with her fingers before taking another sip of her coffee.
Dylan nodded, not sure what to make of her answer. He smiled at Bonnie and pulled the cake out of the bag, holding a fork out to his longtime friend.
"Want some?" He rose an eyebrow at her and smiled convincingly, wanting to make peace with at least one StarKid after the huge fight he had gotten into with all of them before he had left.
"Well how could I say no?" she asked, taking the fork from him and taking a small piece. "This is really good." She said once she finished what she had taken.
Dylan nodded in agreement as he grabbed another fork from the bag and took a small piece of it from the cake. He took a bite and then nodded again, agreeing fully with Bonnie. After he swallowed, he continued their conversation.
"Look, I'm sorry for being an ass before I left. Or disappeared. It doesn't matter too much now." Dylan frowned and looked down at the table, avoiding Bonnie's gaze. "I just..." He sighed and shook his head, looking back up at her with tears glistening in his bright blue eyes.
"I can't tell you how much I'm sorry for doing that to you." Dylan's eyes landed on a small burn that was implanted on Bonnie's neck and felt a wave of guilt coming over him. "I just let the anger get the best of me. Like I always do."
