The Tower

I’m back with more papercraft! Art Fight is fun for trying new things, but I like drawing old things too. Comfort things!

This one took a hot minute to figure out. I actually started this last month, but I couldn’t sort out the mechanism and set it aside. I was happy that everything came together so easily after the break!

Initially, I wanted this to be an Apotheosis piece, but the floating effect worked better for the Tower!

Genuinely curious, what makes you so interested in rot and decay? I notice it's in a lot of your art, most of your fruit people were paired with a rotting, moldy version. I think you had some mushroom people drawing like that too iirc. And your newest piece is a decaying mermaid. What draws you into those themes?

It’s kinda silly, but I had a very religious upbringing and was taught I’d live for eternity and that I must devote my life to god in order to gain a spot in heaven - which sounded like absolute purgatory to my young self. I didn’t even ask to be born, and now you’re telling me I have to keep this bit up FOREVER? A lifetime is already overwhelming, let alone eternity.

As a cope I got really into death, rot and the natural cycle of life. Let there be a conclusion to this short window of existence

Self-indulgent appreciation post!

I want to thank everyone who has shared and liked my art since the beginning of my journey. I’ve said it a hundred times, but Black Tabby Games has been my biggest inspiration in overcoming my anxiety about making art. Their fanart event last year made me really lock in and practice hard, and I’ve still been drawing and doodling every day since!

I’ve made a lot of progress, and there’s always so much to learn; but I’m so excited to do more!
