Movie Night Report: “Breathless”
Certainly not a noir feature.
Nor one that appealed to me whatsoever. It did, however, have a modicum of interest to Buddy, but more on that shortly.
Richard Gere was the main character.
If I said I detested the character, I would be guilty of a gross understatement.
I have known some guys very similar to him. And, after a very few brushes with that ilk, I have eschewed his sort, permanently.
He is, what we called in my youth, a bad boy.
We also referred to them as a BSA (and that is not the lamented lost Boy Scouts of America) but to be frank, a bullshit artist.
I realize there are some ladies that find attraction in his sort.
His character is everything I hate in a guy.
He apparently has zero talent for anything.
He is reckless, loud, crazy, self important… insane.
His actions, his driving, his interface with every other living being.
God, I hated him. You have no idea.
The lady lead character, I thought would have more sense.
She was an architectural student.
But any sort of intelligence evaporated before she set foot on the screen. And hooked up with the horrid guy.
There were considerable occasions of bosom for Buddy although he did complain about the reduced cuppage she provided.
He did compliment me saying I sorta ruined him for a lot of women.
And he got his thanks nonverbally.
There were a couple scenes that almost gave me a frontal shot of Richard, but not quite. And there was breast fondling and nipple sucking which I believe was mimicked by a couple of the on-site viewers, sort of like a physical sing along.
Anyway the girl referred to him as “Tare” which, I am assuming, is French for ‘horrible crazy repulsive human being,’ although I have not taken the Babbel course in French.
Progressing, against my will, through the movie, it almost seemed like a love story. If that is the case, I feel it somehow went astray.
I wasted an hour and 45 minutes.
Well, except for the grateful and attentive companionship.
