So I'm quickly falling in love with one of my character's lines - one that seemed to truly come from her, without any help or cogitation on my part: "I wonder if we're like a candle; you know, how they burn so bright until you put them out, and then smoke goes everywhere? Well, I was thinking: what if the candle is like our body, the fire is our mind, and the smoke is our soul?"

So, I’m sitting her laying out the rough draft for my latest novel and just had a very surreal moment: I’m an author. An actual author. I’ve sold hundreds of books, paperbacks, and audiobooks under several different pen names and genres, make a considerable amount of money doing so, but…for some reason it didn’t really hit me until just now that I’ve become what I’ve always wanted to be since I was a child: a bona fide author. It is at once humbling and mind blowing…
