He’d taken a laminated picture of Jamie with him, supplies for as many people as he could carry on his back and still swim, and set out on his journey to find Alex’s brother - be it a corpse or a survivor.
He hoped beyond hope, though, it was the latter. To his surprise, though, he not only found Jamie - but his own sister sitting there without a tail, in the fucking lifeboat. Upon further inspection and a brief argument in Russian, he’d found out she’d taken upon the same “curse” he had but with less luck. Someone had taken her tail and was taking her from where she’d been on St. Kitts to the states. That was when the plane crashed and she didn’t know where her tail was.
Letting out a sigh, he heaved a backpack full of supplies - food, water, first aid, clothes - and turned to go back into the water with a flop of his tail.
Which, of course, prompted Sasha to just look sheepishly at Jamie as her brother proceeded to insistently wave random women’s scarves at her as he looked because he didn’t know what her tail looked like in this form.
“I should probably explain him, shouldn’t I?” She shook her head no periodically at her brother purely so he wouldn’t swim back over and shove the damn things in her face.
“That would be...helpful.”
Out of the many strange things Jamie Hamilton had seen in his life, this easily had to be the strangest. He was trying to process things a little bit at a time and yet there was only one conclusion that he would arrive at. Especially since he had just seen a man with a tail.
Merpeople existed. He had just seen one. Which prompted him to think that she might be one as well. He would probably freak out later but he was in the middle of the ocean with two...people? fish people? whatever, and he was going to have to rely on them for his survival, if he wanted to make it home to Nevis.
Exhaling slowly and trying to remember to breathe, Jamie settled himself against the side of the life raft and waited, keeping his attention focused on her as though they were just going to have a polite discussion about all of this.
