Please, please, please, even if you’re not Canadian, I’m begging you to pay attention to what is happening in Canada.

Our current Prime Minister has committed election fraud at least three times. He considers missing and murdered indigenous women a non-issue, he’s cutting funding to schools, to social security, he’s shut down parliament because things weren’t going his way, he keeps a stranglehold on scientists so that he can keep denying global warming, he’s taken Canada out of the Kyoto Protocol, and he’s pushed dozens of new laws and amendments to limit freedom of speech and protest.

PLEASE pay attention to Canada. We can’t handle another four years of him, socially financially or internationally. If the international community is paying attention, we might stand a chance.

A Birthday Hike 2

The first day of my Birthday Hike with Lisabet was definitely a success.

After our wander around the magnificent Swaledale we head back to base at the Black Swan in Ravenstonedale for the evening meal and, perhaps, a cheeky whisky or three. (Incidentally, the food is delightful there. My rib-eye was cooked to perfection.)

Possibly one of the warmest and most content experiences of my life thus far was back in our room: sat in the four-poster bed, a sleeping Lisabet next to me, reading, and sipping delicious whisky with the fire in the stove roaring and casting dancing light around the room… READ MORE ->

What does that even mean? Your phone is not natural. Your house is not natural. Most of what you see and hear is not natural. If you are so concerned about being natural why don’t you fuck off into the woods, cover yourself in rabbit fur, eat mushrooms and die when you reach 30.

I saw a bag of almonds and was peckish, so I made a tasty and probably slightly unhealthy snack. I stated by frying about a tablespoon of whole peppercorns in a few millimetres of oil until they started popping like popcorn, then added a half cup of roughly chopped almonds and fried them until they just started to go golden. Then I took the oil of the heat and removed the almonds and pepper with a fork and placed them on a sheet of kitchen paper to remove excess oil. Covered this with salt to taste and found I'd created a rather tasty snack.

Do any of you know any cool/nifty/interesting facts about plants/a certain kind of plant?

My family has weird/awesome reunions where we do a gift/fact exchange thing, and this year’s theme is plants (so we have to bring a plant for the gift exchange, and a cool plant fact to share)… but I don’t know much about plants, and would like to have something fun to contribute that isn’t just a googled ‘cool plant fact’ effort! plz halp?
