Mrs. Evelyn Lammin Moody. Wife of John Henry Moody, and mother to John, Margaret, Christopher, and future Sixth Officer of RMS Titanic, James Paul Moody.
As always thank you to Inger Sheil for providing this beautiful photograph of Evelyn Moody. What a beautiful woman, and a spitting image of her youngest son, James,
Evelyn Moody with 3 of her 4 children. To her left is Christopher. To her right is her only daughter, Margaret. The child in the middle is her youngest (albeit tallest child pictured) James Paul.
I love reading the transcripts from the American Titanic Inquiry because like when Senator Smith questions Bride he's like
"Marconi is only paying you HOw LITTLE?"
and from then on out legit all Sen. Smith cares about is how underpaid the wireless operators are. Like, forget the whole sinking thing, all he wants to know is what's up with their pay.
I know I am not too active on this blog but I would like to announce on my tumblr that I am beginning to outline something that has been a long time coming. As of today, I am beginning the process of writing a biography of Titanic’s Sixth Officer, James Paul Moody. I do not know how long it will take but my goal is for it to be done by January 1st, 2023. This date is just a goal and it may take longer than that depending on how long each step is.
I have no intentions of publishing at the moment but that also may be subject to change depending on how it goes. I hope to be in close contact with other historians and even, perhaps his family if I am able to get in contact with them. I want to be sure that everything I’ve written is approved by other historians and even his family before I even consider publishing.
I am going to use this blog to post updates on the progress of the book. I am really looking forward to telling his story, because in my opinion, there is no one more deserving of having their story told than our darling JP.

DID YOU KNOW: Titanic’s bandmaster received a massive funeral that rivaled that of a British Prime Minister? Wallace Hartley, the 33-year-old head of Titanic’s eight man band, was one of the bodies recovered from the sea by the CS Mackay-Bennett in late April, 1912. Hartley’s remains were returned to his hometown of Colne, Lancashire, and a massively elaborate funeral was held. Over 1,000 mourners attended the funeral itself, while between 30 and 40 thousand people lined the route from the church to the Keighley Road cemetery where Hartley was to be buried. In contrast, when Prime Minister Henry Campbell-Bannerman had died in 1908 at 10 Downing Street - to date the only Prime Minister to die at the address - his funeral was much more subdued, with only a few hundred mourners at Westminster Abbey.
