Every day. I don’t have to talk to the customers much in my position, but I have to deal with their stupid orders.
“Huh. At least you have the chance to talk shit about them, don’t you?”
“Well, if I really wanted to sell you on going, I guess I’d just add one more thing. Everyone thinks Tinworth is only grand during the summer, when its full of life and laughter, celebrating summer vacation. Personally, I’m growing to love it more in the fall. There’s something so serene about being wrapped up in a big sweater while walking around alone, no worries of bumping into people. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you need to unwind and recenter yourself.”
“Huh. Yeah, I just might. Haven’t been in a few weeks. Niamh likes it there. Couple of my cousins are from there, but I couldn’t tell you the last time I visited ‘em at home that wasn’t on a summer holiday.”
“And now there’s masseuses.”
“But that’s not a bad thing?”
James felt as though he’d dug himself into a neat little hole. He was either going to sound like he was criticizing the hell out of Niamh, or like he was lying about not criticizing the hell out of Niamh. “Depends?” he said uncertainly, his heart beating a bit faster than usual. “I mean---no. Not unless you let ‘em take advantage of you. So---in this case, maybe?”
“I’m no good at ethics and shit.”
“Yours, putting out negative energy wastes yours and draws in more negative energy to sap out even more of your own.”
“Yeah, yeah. Fuck my bad vibes, right?”
“Well, a friend who hands out loads of money would be nice.”
“For that one, you’re gonna have to try my dad.”
“One – we’re in Puddlemere, during off-season, on a Wednesday. Two – I’m not the one who’s wanting to test it out. And three – are you going to drink it or not?”
“Yeah, fine.”
“Maybe you should take the metaphorical tie off and let the world be what it is. Being cynical wastes so much energy.”
“I’m sorry, so much of whose energy?”
Elliott had been waving goodbye to her friend when she heard a voice from behind her. Turning around, she raised a brow at the oldest Potter child. “It’s rude to eavesdrop, you know? And anyway, it could have happened. I don’t think she’d lie about it.”
“I don’t think she’d lie about it either,” James a greed with a shake of his head. “But sometimes, people’s eyes get all--- wonky.”
”You can’t know that’s what she really saw.”
Yes. Nice running into you, too.
I think we should get drinks sometime, actually. You’re a pretty funny kid. Owl me or something.
“Okay?”
harperdiggle:
“I’m going to win Project Runway.”
“Uh---cool?”
“This year, and next.”
“But after I graduate, I’m going to like, be famous, or something really cool, so I don’t think I’ll be super concerned about what’s happening here.”
“You’re gonna be famous? You just decided that on your own, huh?”
“You’ve spent seven years here, I’m sure it’s weird being away.” Albus agreed. “Haunted? What do you mean by that?”
“I’m not even sure. I might’ve pregamed in the Three Broomsticks, and it might’ve impaired everything I’m saying right now a little bit. Might’ve being the key here. It might’ve not, too.”
“I know, yeah. I’ll be alright. My dads didn’t start the brewery right out of school, and well, Aidan’s still figuring his stuff out. Things are changing enough.”
“Yeah...You think it’s ever gonna slow down?”
“Did you think everything would suddenly change just because you left?”
“No, I just--- I don’t know. Wouldn’t you think it’s weird to come back and not belong? Except that it looks just like it did when you did?”
Unfortunately.
“So positive, so optimistic. The real world hasn’t given you an edge at all, has it?” James quipped sarcastically.
“How different could it look after a summer?”
“Hey, you never know. Things can happen in the blink of an eye.”
“I’m worried that if I don’t figure it out soon I won’t figure it out ever.”
“Oh, c’mon, like your dads and Aidan wouldn’t push you in the right direction if you needed it. Or Sof, or Rowan, or me. It takes time sometimes. You can’t be the only person who’s ever figured it out past when they graduated, can you? Look at my uncle. He dropped out of the Auror department to work a joke shop. It’s never too late.”
