I TACKED on my new “hippocampus note” which is a memo pad.

新しい海馬帳(メモ帳)にタック！

I’m working at a Soba Union which grow and harvest Japanese buckwheat and mill it to make soba powder . I mainly do milling and I see, touch, carry, fold and trash the paper bag which is a storage of soba.

And I thought what if I using it rather than just trash it. Then became new cover ! It’s familiar with my hands you know.

I put it on the original bag it’s like camouflage.

最近蕎麦組合で働いていて、ここは蕎麦の実を作り、それを製粉して蕎麦粉を作っているんだ。

僕は主に製粉をしていて毎日、蕎麦の実や粉を入れる紙の袋を見て、触って、運んで、畳んで、そして捨てている。

これ捨てるだけじゃなくて、使えないかなって事でタックに使ってみた。いい感じ、肌に合う。わかるでしょ？

元の袋に乗せてみたけど、同化してるでしょ？こういうのカモフラージュって言うんだよね。

Count Culture

I was a kid who likes to count numbers. I mean I often write down numbers on papers eternally.

One day, one summer, every student had "summer vacation research project" in school as a home assessment. Then I made it "this is 3000"

I put these small circle seals(actually this is name "My Tack" which produced by same company of "Nice Tack") to show each numbers.

Blue is ones place, red is tens place, gold is hundreds place and red in gold is thousands place.

I still don't know and look for how connect this counting hobby to my life works. But now I like to count one to hundred in some languages.

I hope it will be something

僕は数を数えるのが好きな少年だった。よく紙に数字をひたすら書いていた。

ある日、ある夏のこと、どの生徒も夏休みの自由研究という宿題が学校から出された。僕は「これが3千だよ」という物を作った。

小さくて丸いシール(実はこれ「ナイスタック」を出している同じ会社から出ている「マイタック」という商品なんだ)で数字を見せてる。

水色は一の位、赤色は十の位、金色は百の位、金に赤は千の位。

いまだにこの数える趣味が何かに繋がらないかと思ってるわけだ。でも今はいろんな言語で1から100まで数えるのにハマってる。

なんのことかさっぱりわからないでしょ？これはケニアの新聞をコラージュしたもので、音の響きと文字のバランスに惹かれて張り合わせたもので特に意味はないけれど、そういうもんさ。

It doesn't make sense at all but this was a collage by using Kenya news paper and I just want to put unique sound and shape of words. That's that.

Nice Tacking

Nice Tacking(paper collage and scrap used by only Nice Tack )

I started collaging and scrapping earnestly since I reminded the existence of Japanese double-sided tape called “Nice Tack” 

It was happened a lot to see color combination of blue and white. And I realised that I have many such stuffs like clothing and goods. Even blue sky and white clouds or snow were catching my eyes.

And I started chasing that combination of goods to collect. A day in my friend’s house I found a match box which was blue and white (B&W) and I wanted to get it. Few days later, I was in the convenience store(Family Mart) I saw double-sided tape which was B&W but I was looked down on it because I wasn’t into stationaries at the time.

On that day I found the B&W match box at another convenience store(Lawson) ! Then I though I have to get double sided tape because I saw hope in the convenience store. 

Next morning I even drove my car to buy that B&W double-sided tape from Family Mart. 

Later, I found some various types of double-sided tape from the same company which name is Nichiban. I knew that it is the most popular company of band-aid and I used to use it. So it wasn’t unfamiliar with me.

I discovered that there’s unique style number on each type of tapes. Like a NW-15 which’s regular type. I was thinking of what is NW means. And I thought that it is Nichiban + W(double)sided tape.

It is fun to imagine the long form of the style number and finally I knew the law of naming. It shows stickiness, its initial letter and width. Like NW-U15 is U(ultra stickiness) +15mm and NW-NU15 (NUNO which means cloth) +15mm. There is many more!

A word or phrase made by transposing the letters of another word or phrase. Like "secure" turns "rescue"

I cut out t-shirts and replace word "GRAND CANYON" what will be ?

Tシャツを切り取って、グランドキャニオンを並び替えると？

It's DRY NAAN ON CG

It means a dried naan(flat bread) is on the CG

? Yes it doesn't have any meaning but it makes sentence.

I like to eat naan by the way.

どんな意味だって？無いけどさ、文になってるでしょ？

ナーン食べるの好きなーんだ

Bud Rest Room

I was following a synchronicity which is color combination of Red & White. And I collected that colorway goods into a restroom in Jamming House.

One of representative is Budweiser beer. I like its design more than the taste but for making this world, I drink a lot though.

赤色と白色の組み合わせのシンクロを追っていた、そして赤と白の物を集めてジャミングハウスのトイレに飾った。

代表的な赤と白はバドワイザーというアメリカのビール

味よりもデザインがかっこよくてね、でもこの空間を作るためにたくさん飲んだけど

I painted door and window flame. I also "Tacked" Bud's box to display.

ドアはペイント、バドワイザーの箱も「タック」したぜ

doorstop is actually skateboard bushing.

戸当ては実はスケボーのブッシュゴム。

NW-DIA WAFRICA

New tack on my diary

this time I went to see an exhibition "Wafrica" which fusion of WA(term of Japanese) and Africa there are lot of similarity between these culture was inspirational

For me I am really inspired by both cultures

和とアフリカの融合作品を見ました、どちらの文化にも類似性が見られるものが多くとっても感化されましたね

自分もどちらの文化にも影響されています

たまに友だちにあげるためにタッキングをする

今回は同じ土地で過ごしてきた仲間の旅立ちに、感謝と思い出を残すために制作

彼らは良いカップルでアフリカや日本文化が好きなので、それらを盛り込んだ、彼らの作ったフライヤーも一緒にスクラップ

レコードと同じサイズなのは、飾るもよし、そして仕舞えるので場所もとらない、なかなかスマートやろ？

Sometimes I Tack to my friends as gifts

This time was for my friends' farewell who I spend time in my place

They are best couple and they like culture of Japan and Africa so I put them and also scrapped their designed flier too.

This is LP size like 12 inch because it able to display and also stock in record shelf, it's smart right ?

Used African art museum's flier, Sake(Japanese liquor)labels, label of baggage (Dar es Slam to Addis Ababa), Ethiopian post card, Tanzanian tea box package, Tanzanian beer label, and photo of my house in Tanzania. Those are my sweet memories.

This time was about Kodak camera and such red, yellow and block colorway

I used an instant Kodak film camera in Thai and I found a Bali's Kodak photo sleeve from my grandpa inherit

I wanted to make Kodak world on new diary

Then I put the sleeve, package and my drawing as an extension of colorway

今回はコダックと赤、黄、黒の色合いを表現

タイ旅行でコダックのインスタントカメラを使った、それとおじいちゃんの残したものの中から見つけたバリの写真屋の入れ物

それらでコダックの世界を日記に広げたいと思い、表紙にタックし、空いた場所にドローイングも赤、黄、黒で描いて埋めた

日記にタック

今回はタイ旅行の間を含んだ日記だったのでタイ王国仕様

表紙はおじいちゃん家に合ったタイの記念切手の外装、そこにココナッツミルクの缶のラベルを組み合わせた

そして開いたところには道中経由した中国とベトナムも盛り込んだ

飛行機が遅れて上海のホテルに泊まった、そこのチラシやベトナム航空のロゴや旅の道中手に入れた紙媒体

紙媒体ってとても大切だ、この業界においてね

ペーパーレスが進んでいったら僕らナイスタッカーやスクラッパーはどうやって生き延びたらいいのだろうか

話は逸れたが、思い出も視覚的に残せる日記っていいよね

Tack on my diary

During this diary time I traveled in Thailand that's why this is Thailand vibe

The cover I used anniversary stamps of Thailand 1981

ad I put canned coconut milk label also inside, I put paper mediums I got while I'm traveling like hotel card which unexpected stay in Shanghai and a Vetjet logo I took

Paper medium is very important for us

How can we( Nice Tackers and scrappers) survive without papers ?

Anyway, it is precious to remember the memories through diaries both literally and visually
