Since SJM is writing 3 more books and 1 more novella I’m praying one is about elriel, one is nessian, and one is about Mor and a lady! What do you think??

Well, the first book of the spin-off series will definitely be Nessian (that’s confirmed right?) and I’m thinking that the upcoming novella might be the introduction of Mor’s story and a new love interest (I hope for elriel, though!). The second book of the spin-off series might be the continuation to the Mor novella and we might read about her coming out and finding love. The third would be the elriel/elucien book. But I really hope we’ll get elriel sooner than that, the wait is just too long 😭 however me & @rosehallshadowsinger think that Azriel will probably need time to recover from Mor’s secret and won’t be able to jump onto the elriel train 😂 that’s why it would initially make more sense for Mor to get the second and elriel the third book 🤷🏻‍♀️

Haha @julesherondalex and I have spent an inordinate amount speculating on what characters will get novels and in what order! Az didn’t have a POV in ACOFAS so that makes me think Nessian and Mor’s stories will be explored first (and because of the point above). I’m going to need to drink a lot of wine between now and the (hopefully) Elriel/Elucien novel!

But we got so many great minor character nuggets in the ACOTAR series even from Feyre’s POV, so I’m hoping for lots of Azriel in the next book. Can y’all even wait to get inside his head and learn about his past, his thoughts and feelings, Rosehall, what he feels for Elain and who that mystery female is?! And bat boy interactions?? Ahhhh! ::pours glass of wine now::

and YES i cannot wait for the minor character nuggets, like the elriel ship sailed even just from feyre’s POV, like “I’m getting her back” ugh kill me! 

i just really want Mor to have a girlfriend, Nesta & Cassian to get together, and to get into Azriel’s head and figure out wtf is going on there and how he feels about elain…OR get into her head! they’re both so quiet and so mysterious and I Have Questions

I totally agree @marnz! My guess is also that the mystery woman mentioned in ACOFAS is Az’s mom for a few reasons:

In chapter 7, Rhys mentions Rosehall and says to Az, “Buy her something from me, will you? And put to on my account this time.” That makes it sound like someone they’ve both known for a long time. @julesherondalex also had the point that because Az has been in love with Mor, it’s incongruent that he’d have a secret girlfriend (who Rhys would offer to buy a gift for).

In chapter 12, Az gets defensive about Cass not waiting to eat until Elain has joined them. Rhys tells Feyre, “There are some scars when it comes to how his mother was treated. Many scars.” Cass also talks about his mom during his POV chapters, so hopefully SJM is planting seeds to explore both of their families and back stories!

i really hope so because the concept of (possibly fucked up) family dynamics over immortality is so intriguing and not enough authors explore it imo. and we don’t really know a lot about the illyrians, other than a) sexy wings b) war like people c) misogynistic wing clipping. so i really hope she digs her hands into these issues and we explore cassian’s backstory and azriel’s and meet some female illyrians 

i am also SUPER curious about what Rhys means when he says this in ACOFAS: “I held [Azriel’s] gaze, though. Held that ice-cold stare that still sometimes scared the shit out of me. I’d seen what he’d done to his half brothers centuries ago. Still dreamed of it. The act itself wasn’t what lingered. Every bit of it had been deserved. Every damn bit. But it was the frozen precipice that Az had plummeted into that sometimes rose from the pit of my memory.” because it sort of contradicts what rhysand said earlier in ACOMAF: “His half-brothers hadn’t been forthcoming, either. I knew because I’d met them, asked them, and had shattered their legs when they’d spat on Azriel instead.” i just need more azriel backstory!

why is cassian called “prince of bastards”

what happened to azriel’s mom & will we ever meet his dad or learn what he’s lord of

if azriel isn’t in love with elain then why does he refuse to track lucien and why did he give her truth-teller? further more, i saw a post theorizing that azriel also had a mating bond for elain snap into place and just hasn’t said anything and i can’t decide what i think about it

what the hell does bryaxis look like? what is it?

will one of the novellas address Vassa’s curse (she was definitely cursed by the bone carver’s brother, right? that’s the third and only remaining death god mentioned)

like i said…i’ve got questions haha :)

Ugh guys these questions are exactly the reason I can’t wait any longer for the elriel book! The story is far from being completed and I really need to know the answers to all of these!!

I also think it is very likely the female in rosehall is Azriel’s mother (or I’m thinking he might have a sister we never knew about? That would be interesting, sjm has so many options!). Can you imagine Azriel having a mother and being all soft with her? Azriel being a son?? Azriel relaxing for once and letting his mother be there for him?? I nearly melted thinking about it

And when Azriel made everyone wait in acofas for Elain at dinner? That’s one of my favorite scenes, because he’s just so thoughtful and always makes sure to pay attention to the littlest things. I absolutely love that about him!

Oh and as you, @marnz, pointed out the scene in acofas, about Rhys’s thoughts of Azriel’s icy rage: i can’t wait to get into Az’s head and know what he’s thinking for once! While I love him for all his light, I know there’s lots of darkness in him and I’m totally intrigued to find out about the “icy rage”, the bitterness I know he must be feeling about the situation with Mor (all the unrequited love that must feel like a burden to him after centuries), Azriel as the lethal shadowsinger/spymaster.

I feel like Azriel is such a deep, intriguing character and, for all it’s worth, highly underrated. I need more from his pov.

As for Elain’s character, she’s also underrated (esp in acotarverse), because people assume her to be kind, beautiful Elain and that’s pretty much it. In acofas, we see Elain being the cutie she is, always smiling and cooking and tending to her garden, but there’s this one scene, that shows what feyre notices:

“‘And you?” I made myself say, “Are you- all right?’ (…) ‘Why wouldn’t I be all right?’ she asked, a smile lighting up her face. I’d seen those smiles before. On my own damn face.”

I believe Elain is going through some things and trying not to show she’s suffering, trying to be brave for all of their sakes. But the loss of her father, former fiancée, the unwanted mate bond to lucien and Nesta in all her depressed glory are taking a toll on our flower grower. Despite all, she’s smiling and laughing with the IC! She organized a funny solstice gift for Azriel (made him laugh out loud!!). It’s the kind of quiet strength that is easy to overlook and she’s so full of love and light; I can’t help but love her! However after all that has happened, we would be ignorant for not seeing how darkness joined her light. That has made her just more intriguing to me. She and Azriel are alike in many ways and I firmly believe that they’ll help each other.

I think Vassa and her curse will be important in the later books. Sounds like another villain to me!! And there is so many unanswered stuff I hope that Sarah has a list where she reminds herself to answer those things!!!! I need answers!!!!
