We took over 3000 pictures on our trip, and we're still sorting through them! But here are a few from our stay on Tobago.
What we got when we came home from the tropics!
This is a link to Jan's Nature Blog for Day 1 of our trip.
A few pictures taken while we were on Tobago. We stayed at the Blue Waters Inn, Speyside, which I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the island. The service and food are excellent, the rooms very comfortable, and the beach is quiet and just a few steps outside your room. Ocean views from every room, and a very nice beach for swimming, as well as a new infinity pool we didn't use. Beautiful place with wonderful people.
Today we had tea at Pax Guesthouse up north of Tunapuna, where we finally got a nice close look at the parrots and also saw the Yellow Oriole!
Ever since reading an article in Bird Watcher's Digest about the Common Potoo, we have hoped to see one for ourselves. Caleb, our guide on the Dunston Cave oilbird hike, pointed out the roosting nightbird as we were returning.
The Scarlet Ibis is TNT's national bird. They begin roosting just before sunset. It starts in ones and twos, then in larger groups, and then in whole flocks. The roost we visited was just one of many in Caroni Swamp.
We took a boat tour of Caroni Swamp with Shawn, who was a wonderful guide. We got to see a Common Black Hawk, which is something Steph has wanted for years.
