Jan Dyntera is proud to have been born in the Czech Republic. He grew up during communism in a beautiful, forested area close to the border with Poland, an upbringing that has been a major influence on his work. During his art studies, which resulted in him qualifying as artis doctor (ArtD.), he received several awards and exhibited his work around the Czech Republic. Jan takes a spontaneous and highly individual approach to his visual art, using surrealism to convey his vision. Composition is all important and he cleverly combines the use of symbols to suggest stories, although interpretation is left to the viewer. He uses provocative, biblical motifs in order to challenge the perceptions of those looking at his work. He is best known for his innovative series of colourful panoramic photographs, black and white still open photoseries “Kon-Tiky” and also his abstract graphic arts and paintings that he says are the product of his restlessness. He has made his mark at both domestic and international exhibitions and his works are included in many private collections. He adds: “my art needs to be a little bit dirty, nihilistic, dark, chaotic and layered but at the same time simple, calm and colourful. Some may say this is what I am like. Whatever medium I use, I always try to bring levity rather than seriousness and seek to bring peace, beauty and brightness and also something of the chaos of everyday life.
